Summary: A truly original book...
Review: "Mr. Right, Right Now" is not for the faint-hearted or the dim-witted. E. Jean Carroll, with her razor-sharp insights and wildly popular way of serving them up to the masses, is, above all else, a truth-seeker. The chapter on fear where she interviews Fear itself may just be one of the most brilliant and original pieces written about one of humankind's oldest subjects in the twentieth century. "Mr. Right, Right Now" is for anyone who cares to think, to tell the truth, to know their truth, and live their best life (instead of just griping about it)--and have a few spit-your-coffee out laughs in the process. E. Jean Carroll is the den mother of re-invention, and the mother of all interventions.

Summary: Fun but not productive
Review: E. Jean is a fun and sometimes funny writer. But I was looking for serious advice: I want to find the right mate, not curl up with a book about it. I read a review in the New Yorker last month of a similar book called "Find a husband after 35", so I bought that too, which had a lot of practical tips and really changed the way I approached the search for a mate. Most of these dating books have some similar advice, but I think this other book I mentioned will get results faster.

Summary: Mr. Right, Right On!
Review: Finally! Someone who's not afraid to tell it like it is when it comes to dating! I've been reading E. Jean's columns in Elle for years and have been wondering when she was going to put all of her wacked-out wisdom in a book. Well here it is, ladies -- and it's hysterical. I'm not saying E. Jean is going to find you (or me) a man in 6 weeks (come on!) but who cares? This book is so much fun that it's worth giving up a few Saturday nights just to curl up with it! Besides, who needs a man when you have E. Jean!

Summary: Sassy, Hilarious, Insightful & Helpful!
Review: Here's a dating/relationship book that women are really going to enjoy reading. It is packed with helpful pointers, hilarious phrases, and sassy female insights. As a fellow author in this genre I'm always checking out what other authors are saying and E. Jean Carroll has become up with a clever plan that should be very useful for eager bachelorettes looking for a great boyfriend with upside potential.

The book is based on something the author calls "The Man Catching Method" which says that: 1) Mother Nature designed women to find and seduce a man, 2) Men decide pretty much everything about a woman in the first 30 seconds, and 3) When a woman meets a man and they like each other they will synchronize or click.

This book is about getting a man to fall in love with a woman and not about getting married or being responsible in a love relationship. It is focused on getting that fast and secure attachment with a man and then deciding later whether the woman actually wants to keep him or not.

With this limited scope, the author takes the reader on a 6 week journey that covers: 1) acquiring the proper aloof mindset, 2) looking appealing in a man's eyes, 3) getting a firm grip on debilitating fear, 4) 119 places where to meet men & smart online strategies, 5) how to initiate contact, 6) asking a man out on a date, 7) some insights about intimidating men, 8) when to have sex in order to drive the man wild, and 9) 79 ways to lose the man that's been caught.

What is probably underappreciated about this book is how the author uses credible sources in the behavioral sciences to back up her claims.

And what is most delightful about this book (even for a male reader like me) is the absolutely hilarious way the author makes her points. Like a comedian, there's something funny every paragraph or so. And it's tasteful, intelligent humor too!

In the genre of dating books this one really stands out as about the most entertaining and helpful in its limited scope (getting a man to fall in love) of just about any one I've ever come across.

Summary: IT WORKS! IT WORKS! IT TOTALLY WORKS!
Review: I admit I was dubious. I skipped two of the weeks----I did all the beauty advice (which is FANTASTIC! The Mr. Right Food Plan is genius. I've lost seven-and-a half pounds so far) and then I went straight to Week Four. My expectations were low, but I was looking so fabulous, I decided what the heck? And I was amazed. I 've met two wonderful men . . . and I've just started. (Now I am going back and doing the Six Week Plan from the beginning. I like the whole MIND-SET the author, E. Jean, advises.) It totally works. Totally, totallly works!

Summary: True, True but Unrelated
Review: I am not sure which one is the greatest waste of money: buying her book or joining her website. Let's scratch "joining the website" because if you "recommend" you can be in for free. Everything in the book is probably true (ie how to catch the man) but keeping him it's just a totally different story, This book is great if you want to land many dates, but don't count on it to get married. The mere fact that you "click" with a man does not make him good marriage material. And for Goodness sake, do you really want to date a guy you met while opening a store door, just because you clicked? What about his background, character, income, and moral values? After wasting four months with their "strategies" and website, I took their best advice (where to find men) and went on my own with other book's advices and most of all with an open heart, and landed the man of my life in 4 weeks and married him within 3 months. Good luck to y'all single ladies.

Summary: A Girl's Best Friend
Review: I have been a devoted fan of E. Jean's Carroll's since her Hunter S. Thomson days and all I can say is Brava! Miss E. Jean for writing a book that encourages women to go Bigger and Bolder and more Brazen then they ever could imagine. In a world where everyone is supposed to look and act like Britney Spears, I think E. Jean's advice to finding Mr. Right, is like a brisk, cold slap in the face, coaxing women to get out there and strut their stuff, baby, with no apologies! I crown E. Jean Carroll the new Lolita of modern love with her fresh and saucy approach to finding a man and making the pursuit of love a bit sinful and fun! Carroll constantly emphasizes the importance of loving your own life and getting out there with your own talents, style, verve, pluck--whatever you are, be it to the hilt. After reading her timely tome I'm ready to meet my Mr. Right, bring 'em on!

Summary: E. Jean Carroll is right on target!
Review: I just read Martian Bachelor's review, and I have to disagree with his ridiculous statements. Myself, as well as all of my girlfriends, have read Mr. Right, Right Now, and on top of finding E. Jean's style to be fabulous, it was also excellent advise that women really need to hear right now.

Summary: Who Doesn't Love E. Jean?
Review: I never read a dating self-help book before, but I love E. Jean's column, so I gave it a go. Mr. Right, Right Now! is funny and smart, and the logic of following E. Jean's advice is unquestionable. Who doesn't want her best self to be squired around town by someone just as fabulous as she is?

Summary: A Real Writer
Review: I read everything E. Jean Carroll writes. She's a real writer, a sharp and funny social commentator, and a terrific journalist, and I love her voice. Smart readers will be particularly impressed with her skill reporting the current research in sex and marriage. I admire the way she covers the waterfront. She goes to rock-climbing spots, moto-cross tracks, gun clubs, university labs, millionaires' cocktail parties. About halfway through, I realized, this woman is an explorer. I think we're lucky that someone with her quality of mind and sense of humor has turned her attention to one of the most frustrating dilemmas of contemporary women: how to find someone real to love.
