Rating: Summary: Buy this book!!! Review: As a 2002 high school graduate, I highly recommend this book to any young, sarcastic, Daria-esque goddess like myself. This book backs up my see-through-the-crap attitudes and opinions to a T. I cannot get enough of Gilman's sassy and brutally true remarks and observations. Her voice is sophisticated yet real. The beliefs of this woman should be considered, if not adopted, by any young woman who is ready to take on the world.
Rating: Summary: Loving Susan Jane Gilman Review: I bought this book after reading the comments on it just to see what it was like and I was pleasantly surprised how great it was!! My fiance and I sat each night and read it together then I let a bunch of coworkers borrow it who also loved it! I highly recommend it!! Very funny, very witty.....
Rating: Summary: KISS MY TIARA Review: This was a very smooth transaction, excellent service. Couldn't ask for better service, very pleased
Rating: Summary: Completely Hilarious Review: I started this book two nights ago and just finished it today. I couldn't put it down (I had to, though, 'cause of school and work and typical teenage life). The wit an humor is amazing and the way she empowered women is great. My boyfriend, of course thought it as a "guy bashing" book and my mother wasn't ready to hear my brother, 13, when reading out the table of contents, the title of the 8th chapter (i think it's the eighth). Anyway, I gave it to my "sister" who's now on the second chapter. It's an irresistible, can't-keep-your-hands-off-it book. And if you like to read something that's hilarious and witty, this is definitely for you!
Rating: Summary: Forgettable Read Review: If you're looking for a light read with the author's personal ideas on being a politically correct feminist in the '00's, then pick up this book. I was not however and was deceived by the title into thinking that this would be a witty 'guide to life' for 20somethings and was pretty put off by reading about Ms. Gilman's viewpoints for the entirety of the book. It does have its moments & most women will find themselves nodding along to the author's feministic outpourings, but mostly it's just forgettable.
Rating: Summary: Funniest Book on Earth Review: I read this book about 5 times before passing it on to a friend, with the explicit promise that she would pass it on as well.Kiss My Tiara made me want to jump right up and call my congressperson, attend a women's sporting event, send money to planned parenthood and just generally get active. It did this while also making me laugh so hard I'm sure I almost broke something. The book was hilarious, and because I agree with almost all of the author's views, I was (almost) never offended. However, if you are not a 100% crazy feminist liberal then you may find yourself wincing now and then. All in all, a must-read for liberal women and men who love a good laugh and a little political motivation.
Rating: Summary: Is she is a Lula or what???? LOVE IT Review: After I read this book, I thought of a persona that this person would be if she were real......I came up with...."Lula". She is the eptiome of what we all want to be.....Vivacious, outgoing, fun-loving, courageous, dynamic, gaudy (but in a Las Vegas flashy trash sort of way) and outspoken for what we want. Susan must have this inner "Lula" inside her...because she has let her break out in the world of free press. She is one of the most graphic and imaginative writers that I have come across in awhile. I loved every minute of this book.....I cannot praise Susan enough.......I would love to meet Grandma...She sounds like a hoot!!!! You will love this book, if you have a free spirit and love to laugh......Susan is a WONDERFUL writer and I can't wait to see what she is cooking up next....Perhaps a sequel featuring our hero...."Lula".
Rating: Summary: You don't need this book! Review: If you are savvy enough to consider reading this book, then you don't really need it, especially if you are an intelligent feminist woman! The entire book is nothing but Gilman's whiny opinions, and believe you me, I already have my own on all the issues she presents (politics, careers, shopping, PMS, dieting, marriage, etc.). Gilman actually suggests that women should eat more ice cream as a show of solidarity to our sisters, the cows! Where did she get that from? I usually like reading feminist memoirs and well-researched books about pop culture, but this one did not work for me. Instead of Tiara, I highly recommend trying The Bust Guide to the New Girl Order.
Rating: Summary: A must read!! Review: Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!!! All women should read this book. Susan Gilman has an amazing knack for combining razor sharp humor with plain old common sense. The entire book is hilarious!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Generally funny but partially offensive Review: This book is funny just like other feminist's books, and I can agree with lots of parts. I was laughing until I read, "if my gal from Japan prefers gAsianh to gOriental, g shefs got my backing. Ditto for a person in a wheelchair who prefers gphysically disabledh to gcrippled"." I don't care if they call me Asian or Oriental but being Japanese is not comparable to being handicapped. Put your own race and test to see how offensive this sounds.
