Reading is fundamental is what educators say, I say reading "Tiara" is every women's fundamental right. "Brava La Diva" to Ms. Gilman. And Ms. Gilman, "Do you have more delicious nuggets of delight to come?"
Rating: Summary: Oh my Goddess!! What a hoot!! Review: This book is right on the mark and hilarious with it. I just crack myself up on the train on the way to work and I don't care!! Goddesses out there unite and put this on your MUST READ list.
Rating: Summary: Very, very cute! Review: Kiss My Tiara, is a great read, especially if you're feeling lousy, as it will lift your spirits. I was laughing out loud at so many parts, and I would love to loan this to my friends, but I want to keep it with me in those times of need! Susan Gilman does give legitimate advice among the humor, she is a gifted writer. Even though Ms. Gilman is extremely liberal I let that slide. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Bold, witty and empowering Review: As clichéd as it sounds, I could not stop reading this book. Gilman's style is sharp, assertive and fresh, and the book is filled with witty and humorous advice to help explain, examine or justify many of the strange events that happen in a woman's life. Although the title may suggest it encourages women to look down upon others (i.e. men), it instead attempts to empower readers to find and encourage the best in both themselves and others- what ever the "best" may be. I particularly like that Gilman set up the chapters individually, so that readers can skip around as desired (the chapter "Fish Who Need Bicycles" seemed to call to me), and the writing is simple and quick-paced. I've recommended this book to several friends who were dealing with variations of the quarter-life crisis. The book seems to be aimed more at younger women, perhaps late teens to mid 30s, although I think all readers could walk away with a lesson or two.
Rating: Summary: All women should read this Review: Common sense feminism. The author is funny, witty and even made a self-assured woman such as myself reflect even deeper into some of my values and behaviours. Every woman should read this!
Rating: Summary: Wow! Girl Power! Gotta love this one! Review: I bought this book on a whim at a book fair -- about one week before I was to attend a family wedding in Vegas. I dreaded attending this function, once again, as the "Single Female" family member. I liked the title and bought it in case I needed something "Smart Mouthed" to say to the question as to why I wasn't married. Needless to say, I didn't need to get snippy with anyone; but the book had such a humorous approach to sex, love, money, family, careers, etc -- I decided it was to become my new "bible". It's philosophies just put a great spin on the weekend. Not only do I wish I had written this book -- but I wish someone had blessed me with a copy when I was 18!
Rating: Summary: Everyone should own this book! Review: What a wonderful, funny, empowering book. With a great sense of humor, Ms. Gilman points out how many fantasies women have bought in to and deflates them all. I found myself laughing out loud during every chapter. Recommend this to all you women friends...and men too!
Rating: Summary: Hilarious Review: Loved it! Don't lend it to your friends, you'll never get it back!
Rating: Summary: This book rocks! Review: It is the best guide to loving yourself as a woman, while giving the finger to anyone that dares to mess with you. Unfortunatley it is grouped with the self-help books... but is SO beyond that. It inspirational and lifesaving. Pass it around your group of friends,,,, you'll propably never get it back!
