Summary: Kiss my Tiara
Review: I haven't read a book like this in a long time. Gilman makes sense of all the things we women do such as plastic surgery and dieting. I highly recommend this book for all women.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Fun Reading!
Review: I thought the book was great. It was fun and easy reading as well as being highly entertaining. I hardly ever laugh out loud while reading but I sure did this time. If you're looking to have fun and be entertained...read this book!

Summary: Incredibly funny
Review: A girlfriend recommended this book to me, and I put it on my amazon... list. ... I am loving it - I keep doing that "nodding in recognition" thing as I read, and have made a mental list of chicks to lend it to. But not until I finish.

Summary: Awesome Book!
Review: This was the best book I have read in a long time that really made me laugh out loud. Amazingly funny, fresh and no holds bared. A must have for EVERY woman!!!

Summary: You Must Read This Book!
Review: First of all, do not rad this if you beleive in the following things: Pro-Life Right Wing Republicans The NRA Kathy Lee Gifford Politcal Correctness Neo-Nazism, KKK or other such groups and using Proper Grammer. In other words Do Not Read This if you are a right wing male english teacher with no sense of humor.

Now moving on, this book offers practical, time proven advice on deprogramming your brain, dealing w/ your family, getting a job, and making money.

That being said I must go back to seaching for dime a dozen cheezy romance novels(sarcastic).

Summary: Absolutely fantastic
Review: Susan Gilman is funny, articulate and right on the money. I laughed my way through this book, and cried when she touched on the topics near and dear to my heart. It's a must read for any woman in the rat race.

I have fallen in love with her grandmother and wish she could have been mine.

She hits the nail on the head: we gals have GOT to stick together.

Hats off to Susan Gilman. Will there be a sequel?

Summary: On my bottom 10 list
Review: I picked up this book because the title caught my attention, and now I realize why you should never judge a book by its cover. At first I enjoyed the book and Gilman's wittiness, and I was happy that this wasn't another typical male bashing feminist book. However, the further I got into the book, the more annoyed I became with Gilman and her ideas...and the more it seemed to bash men. Her sarcasm quickly became overbearing. She also seemed to try too hard to be politically correct (so much so that it was distracting), but then contradicts her pc-ness by blaming the Republican party for almost everything that is wrong with this country (not all of us are anti-woman pro-lifers).

It's an ok book for a light read, but I wish I had saved my money for something that really would have enriched my life.

Summary: 5 is for the laughs I had with this book....
Review: Susan Jane Gilman has her way with us!

With tongue in cheek, she says all the things we say (that's the fairer sex) when we are out with girlfriends drinking margaritas (I date myself, if I were under 35, it would be cosmopolitans!). It is, and I quote, "her intention to offer women inspiration, wit and tools for intelligent resistance"..... to all the wacky things we are supposed to be and think and do because.... we are broads.

She inspires us while giving us inside information to philosophy passed down from her old grandma. Most of the inspiration and grandma's sayings far surpass the advice you will get from the "health and well being" or "feminist" magazines that exist today.

Here are my favorite takeaways from the book, in no particular order:

1.The term "Smartmouth Goddess" (SG) - what we all would like to be. We ARE SG's, deep in our inner thoughts, but our need to "build relationships" keeps us from spewing.

2. Advice on friends: "Friends shouldn't be treated as leftovers".

3. Advice on good habits to adopt from men: "Men do not schlepp."

3. Advice on family: "Regard your family as a source of popular entertainment- distance yourself from their neuroses by pretending they're on television".

Gilman combines her knack for turning a phrase and cynical humor with a little political agenda, sex and Biblical references thrown in for good measure.

Read it when your husband is out of town!

Summary: Burn "The Rules" and Laugh a While!!
Review: It was the pink kissy lips that attracted me to the cover, and then, after reading the back of the book, I thought that this would make a nice gift for a friend who is going through a "rough time". I thought I should scan the book before giving it to her, and ended up reading it myself. Now, I have to buy her her own copy, as well as copies for my sisters, gal pals and nieces. After reading too many "how to" books and self-help fodder, finally, a book that tells the whole truth, holds nothing back, speaks the mind of most women and sounds so very much like ME! I have e-mailed all my fellow Goddesses and recommended this book for their pleasure and to enlighten them. I hope Ms. Gilman will have some speaking engagements in NYC because I would love to personally meet her and giver her a "Thank You" hug! Hoping she'll continue to write!

Summary: A new favorite
Review: I'd like to thank Ms Gilman for making my gift shopping easier, I now know what all my female relatives and friends will be recieving for gifts this year. This is one book that will not be sold at a garage sale or donated to a charity. I plan on rereading this yearly and giving it to my thirteen year old daughter and ten year old son to read in the near future. I put her in the same catagory as Erma Bombeck and Ellen Goodman (that is what I would write if I had any talent catagory). I highly recomend this book!!!
