Summary: Skip This Book
Review: This book really pissed me off. The snide remarks and generally condescending attitude towards pregnant women in the book implies that the author thinks that pregnant women are a joke and an oddity. I guess Tom and Pat think that the only way to give a man (who's wife is pregnant) support is to insult women, nature and motherhood because they're feeling inadequate and side-lined. It contained very little actual information and really soured my husband and myself on the whole series.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Funny but educational too
Review: This is a great gift for the new father-to-be. It takes a light hearted look at these 9 (10) months from the man's side but also teaches along the way.

Summary: Distrespectful and offensive
Review: This misogynistic, sarcastic book is completely worthless except to those few husbands that find their pregnant wives to be annoying, unattractive "nags", and who want to be completely uninvolved in her pregnancy except to belittle the mother of his child. Each chapter coldly begins with "what she will be complaining about", which gives you an idea of the level of mature compassion and supportiveness encouraged by the book. Also most unhelpful are sections that teach prospective fathers pregnancy "lingo" so that they can trick their wives into thinking that they actually care enough about the pregnancy to have learned a thing or two. Finally there are drawings of the pregnant woman which show her becoming more and more unattractive and angry as her pregnancy progresses-how wonderful. Finally, although the book claims to be a parody (of a book that actually has value?), it is rarely funny and often slow, repetitive and bitter. It is as though the author considers his pregnant wife his enemy. This book was written in the wrong century. Fortunately for all of us mothers and children, most men that I know would not relate to a book this stupid, crass or dull. We threw it away.

Summary: Lighten up folks, it's a PARODY
Review: To all of you disappointed at the lack of pertinent information in this book, didn't you read the description before you bought it? Didn't you see the red banner on the corner that says "A PARODY"? C'mon people, this is not an informational book, it's a joke. It's meant to be a joke. It's not supposed to make your husband care more or give him any useable knowledge about pregnancy, it's supposed to make him laugh.

I bought this for my future brother-in-law when we found out my sister was pregnant.....he loves it, and so does she! I think it's a fantastic book, for those with a sense of humor.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very funny
Review: Unlike most of these attempts at humor and parody, this book is actually very funny. It's a good parody of What to Expect When You're Expecting, but you'll also find it funny even if you haven't read that book. My wife laughed a lot when she read it too.

Summary: A Very Funny Parody
Review: We bought this book because he thought it would be fun to read. I don't think he actually got to read this book because I was always stealing it! It is hilarious there is no other way to describe it. There are cartoon pictures of what you can "expect" your wife to look like and there is a guide of what you need to buy each month.

It puts a lighthearted spin on pregnancy that at times can be much needed. There does seem to be some filler hence the 4 stars. But if you are looking for a funny book this is the one. I can't say enough good things about this book, it's the perfect pregnancy companion. Also at times the woman in the book seems to have it harder than the avg. pregnant woman.

Summary: Waste of money...
Review: We found it to be a sad display of bad jokes. Hubby didn't read it.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: some real moments of humor with too much filler
Review: Yes, it is a parody of the What to expect when you're expecting real book on pregnancy written for the father. Now that you know that, it is amusing in places with some downright funny parts, but overall I wish it had been funnier. Maybe it tries to give real advice every once in a while instead of sticking to just humor which might confuse some readers (judging from the reviews that didn't notice it was funny?). I feel the same way about this book I feel about episodes of Monty Python and the Flying Circus -- some great skits with lots of mediocre bits thrown in. It was a clever idea that I feel could have reached even higher comic levels, but as a quick funny read for fathers, it might just hit the spot.
