Rating: Summary: Mmmmm, it was OK I guess Review: Maybe I don't get it. I'm from the south and know women like this I guess, but after the first 20 pages of this book, I stopped smiling and it got old....fast. I'm sure you have to "be there" to appreciate it.
Rating: Summary: don't waste your time Review: I continued reading this book because I thought it would surely get better if I got far enough into it. But after about 3/4 of the way through I gave up. The Sweet Potato Queens are not depictive of myself or other women I know from Texas....... The so-called wit in this book is nothing more than junior high school level potty humor. Those who loved this book and found it so refreshingly funny need to get out more.
Rating: Summary: This was Laugh Out Loud Funny!! Review: This book was so funny! I am glad i purchased this book. I will recommend it to all my friends!! Long Live The Sweet Potatoe Queens!!
Rating: Summary: The Sweet Potato Queens' a role model to be proud of . . . Review: I read this on a flight from Chicago to Sacramento, It was the fastest flight I had ever taken. I giggled, I laughed, I have given this book to all my friends. . . every woman needs to feel like a queen and be treated like a queen sometimes!
Rating: Summary: The Sweet Potato Queens' Guide to Life Review: I have never laughed so hard at any book I've ever read. I have shared it with all my friends, they want one too, but we can't find them. She is the funniest woman alive....I read Chapter "Before Zena There Was Curtisene" out loud in my deepest "Southern Voice" and I literally brought down the house! How can we get more of these books?
Rating: Summary: Truly the FUNNIEST Book I've ever read...... Review: This is the funniest book I've ever read and I must relate her style of writing to that of Erma Bombeck many years ago. But...this is about a "2002 kind of Southern woman" that I think is the "Woman of Today" that every middle aged woman wants to be....If you don't already think like her.....her style of writing and humor will certainly make you "stop and think" about the people you have "known" who would fit into the chapter perfectly....or even the times you, yourself have experienced those very same "thoughts or feelings" that the main character is having. I literally spent my nites laughing out loud at this book and calling my friends saying "let me read you this line"!
Rating: Summary: all women must read this book Review: I don't know or care what men think of this book. All I know is that this hilarious book will improve the lives of all women and remind them they have the monopoly and can use it at whim. This book is a training camp for showing women they can be all they didn't even know they should be dreaming of being.
Rating: Summary: Not for every woman Review: It's only for those women who want to have fun in life, and live it to its fullest! If you want to laugh 'til you cry, and don't mind a bit of bawdy humor, this is the book to buy! You will not be the same woman after you've read it - you'll want to rush right out and get yourself a tiara and some sparkly accessories and start your own Local Chapter of Sweet Potato Queens.
Rating: Summary: South's best kept Secret! Review: Girls, Girlfriends, womenfolk, hear me now: This is a delightful, irreverant book for women only...ok, perhaps for a few thick-skinned men too, but they'll never be the same after readin' it!. It is so funny, so honest, you must read it. It is so Southern too! I'm talking, laugh out loud, laugh out loud, laugh out loud!
Rating: Summary: Sweet Potatoes Queen's Guide to Life Review: This was hands down THE most hilarious book I have ever read. I had so many laughing out loud, side splitting giggles, I had various members of my family coming in to ask me if I was okay. I would therein read the particular passage that got my funny bone to wiggling and before long they would be holding their sides and wiping away their tears too. My very favorite part was about Curtisene Lloyd - the most prepared woman on earth. The book was worth every penny I paid for it!
