Rating: Summary: very funny--just what one needs occasionally Review: Although the book was not "great literature," it was really funny and worth reading, if you have a sense of humor. Some may not "get it."As a middleaged woman, having the time of her life, I know just how Miss Browne felt in all those situations.
Rating: Summary: The Perfect Brain Cushion! Review: I had entirely too much fun reading this book. It makes me want to dye my hair red and cover my vitals in green sequins! Jill Conner Browne describes us southern 'wimen' to a tee.
Rating: Summary: Be careful! Sooooo funny you may pee your pants... Review: This raunchy, bawdy and outrageously tacky book is an absolute scream. I devoured it almost as fast as my kids devoured the Butterfinger cookies from the recipe in the back of the book. (Miss Lexies' Pineapple Casserole is deliciously unusual, as well.) Can't wait for the sequel, TV movie, etc. Since reading the Book of Love, I've been wearing my hair a bit bigger and my nails a bit longer... and Tammy is right-on about the power of The Promise... If you don't get this book, you're taking it too seriously, and I suspect yourself, too. Kick off the stilettos, pour yourself a Knock You Naked Margarita, get out your dart gun and LIGHTEN UP!
Rating: Summary: A Yankee Wannabe Review: Read the book and be prepared to laugh out loud. Great book to read to get a grip on how things can and should be! Plan to make the trip down south to meet the Queens in person and see if they will take me as a Yankee wannabe! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Female Lewis Grizzard but even funnier Review: This one of the funniest (if not THE funniest) books I have read. Most of the time we take life much too seriously - THE queen reminds us to actually live. Please, please read it and throw away the Prozac.
Rating: Summary: Darling! AND Precious!! And a REAL HOOT!!! Review: This book provided absolute uplift to a home-sick Southerner. Yankees may not "get it", but every woman over the age of 30 SHOULD!
Rating: Summary: Most hilarious book I've read in a long, long time! Review: I was laughing out loud and at times tears were rolling down my face! This book should become a "bible" for every woman who aspires to be "queenly"! I want to join their gang! Go out and buy this book for you AND your friends. Some great recipes, too.
Rating: Summary: a bit disappointing Review: I was a bit disappointed with Browne's book. I was expecting it to be more like Divine Secrets of Ya-Ya Sisterhood, but it was more a how to wheedle and connive your way through life using men whenever you can. Some parts were very funny, but not enough to get me to finish the book.
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL TRIP BACK HOME Review: I grew up in Jackson, MS and reading this book was like a tripback home. It is baudy, down home, and most of of all hilarious.Whether you are from the South, the North, or anywhere in between, this is a must read. I now live in the Chicagoland area and I am recommending it to all my friends. Those that have read it so far love it and say they can see me within the pages. Love those Sweet Potato Queens.
Rating: Summary: The only book every woman should read! Review: Jill Conner Browne is one of the best humorists of our time. After I bought The Sweet Potao Queens' Book of Love, I couldn't put it down or stop laughing out loud. From "Jay at the desk" to the differences between boyfriends and fiances, this book is a must have for anyone who has been through the trials and tribulations of love or just pure lust. I garuntee that as soon as you pick up this book you will not be able to put it down or stop yourself from laughing out loud at the pure wit and southern humor of Jill Connor Browne. I am definitely a Sweet Potato Queen Wannabe and you will be too after you read this book. I can't wait to see what Jill Conner Browne comes out with next!
