Summary: Sweet Potatoes Clobber Ya Yas
Review: Now this is a great look at women's friendships. If you are too smart to be a Ya Ya, you'll love this hilarious book. It's also a great way to look at the world. Wish I had thought of this stuff. What's more, wish I had KNOWN some of this stuff -- could have changed my life. Oh well. At least now I know about The Promise and the Five Men I Must Have in My Life.

Summary: I laughed so hard my face hurt
Review: I read this book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. I have never laughed so hard or so much while reading a book. These self proclaimed Queens are most definetly Queenly.

This one is a must read, especially if your from the South. I think this book would be a great gift idea. I can't wait to try out some of those recipies and of course I must try some of the other advice and tips noted. I wonder how well they work for us regular folks, maybe you have to be a Queen to pull them off.

Summary: Perfect Gift!
Review: A friend gave me this book with the advice of "don't ask me to try and explain what this book is about, you just have to read it". I did, then proceeded to purchase 9 copies (through Amazon.com of course)OB and sent them to all my girlfriends with the comment of "if this book doesn't make you laugh out loud, I'm sorry, we can't be friends any longer", and laugh out loud they did! My copy is still circulating around the neighborhood, but I was certain to put my name in it so I would be sure to get it back! I'm sure this book is going to be a reread!

Summary: Best of the Best
Review: This is the funniest book I have ever read. Every woman over forty will love it.

Summary: Oh so very funny
Review: This book of Southern "Ladies" and I use that term loosely, is laugh out loud funny. I spent a good portion of the time I read this book rereading aloud passages to my husband with tears in my eyes. I have sent this book to friends and relatives. A must read.

Summary: Better than Laughing Gas
Review: Friends keep a woman sane, but friends this funny make a woman insane! This book was so funny, people thought I'd cracked up laughing to myself while reading it. Had to leave my bedroom one night, 'cause I was reading it in bed, and got to laughing so hard I was afraid I'd wake up my husband, and Lord knows, you couldn't explain this book to a husband. I want to be a Wannabee, just to hang around this group.

Summary: Sweet Potato Queens Keep Life Sweet
Review: The Sweet Potato Queens have discovered the secret to happiness; life is what you make of it, and each of these fallen Southern Belles has decided to make life a riot, a romp, a long, involved, and perfectly executed practical joke, a reason for joy. Even while facing the variety of idiots and jerks and creeps (as well as indigenous critters) we come across in this world, the Sweet Potato Queens handle every dilemma with aplomb, humor, and sisterhood. They are also (thank God!) cheerfully addicted to bad food, good drinks, trashy lingerie, practical jokes, and watching beauty pageants with the supreme satisfaction of goddesses who know that the best crown is the one you give yourself, and it's yours for life. They are convinced of their own sovereignty, and what's more, they will convince you of yours.

This book relates the history of the SPQs and then swings into a profoundly funny trove of advice and anecdotes. There are also recipes not to be found in any Junior League Cookbook and stories that you must not read while drinking a soda, lest cola come out of your nose from hysterical laughter. When reading this book for the first time, read it with a good friend close by; this is a book so funny is BEGS to be shared, and shared immediately, with someone who will laugh with you.

As long as your girlfriends (or, in certain cases, your boyfriends) have a sense of humor, you will always have the perfect gift for them in this book. I myself keep having to buy new copies because I keep giving them away.

When I reach for this book, as I have time and again, both in blue times and in silly ones, I know for sure I'm going to come away all perked up, grinning and blushing. Life is wonderful, and we can make it up to be so; the SPQs show you how to follow their example with the sassy and wise enthusiasm that is the trademark of a group of women who have declared themselves bona fide goddesses and are having a complete blast with the world at large.

Mix you up some Fat Mama's Knock You Naked Margaritas (the SPQs tell you how to make them) put on some trashy lingerie (they tell you the best place to get it) and invite your girlfriends over and read this book aloud to each other. Put this book on your list of things you must read this year, and put it on your Christmas List for all your gal pals as well.

Summary: What a laugh!
Review: I made the mistake of reading this book when I was waiting for my car to be fixed. I was waiting in the lounge with about 4 other people, all of whom will undoubtedly be telling people at dinner tonight about the Very Strange Lady who was laughing so hard she was crying!

That was okay, but the hard part was when the service manager came to talk to me about my car and I'm wiping tears from my eyes as I was reading the pregnant lady underwear section!

This was a really funny book. I've read other books and been irritated by the 'ism's of a region, but this one is just about women who make no excuses and enjoy being women. In an age where everyone works very hard to be what they aren't, this book just enjoys the hell out of being a girl.

Summary: Hysterical! Laugh-out-loud funny! Read this book!
Review: I have purchased 10 copies myself. I have given this book to my mother and several of my girlfriends. I always include the promise that you will laugh-out-loud. No one believes me until they have read it. The candid humor is very refreshing. The stories come alive and leave you wanting more. Every woman should own a copy and every man, for that matter. Remember...Be Particular!

Summary: Slow Start, includes raunchy language, hilarious
Review: If you are insulted by raunchy language, save yourself the insult. However, it has passages so funny and sweet that I recommend it to friends who can get over the sleaze. Jill Conner Browne is outrageous but not shallow. She is, in fact, a sensitive woman who has her priorities right on. Reading the reviews at Amazon.com really gives an accurate accounting of the book; read a few and note which you are likely to relate to. I laughed very whole heartedly and felt her ending was touching. I like her. Wish I knew her.
