Summary: Thank God for the Sweet Potato Queens!
Review: If you were wondering what all the hoopla was about over the Ya-Ya Sisterhood...if you know in your heart of hearts what the Magic Words To Make Any Man Do What You Want are without having to be told...if riding on the back of a convertible wearing a tiara is a heady thought...if you think any book that quotes Miss Suzanne Sugarbaker in the first chapter HAS to be good...then THIS is the book for you!! I laughed until I cried more than a few times. Jill Conner Browne has definitely won over yet another wannabe here!

Summary: Make Me a Wannabe!
Review: I laughed through this entire book. Jill Conner Browne gives us a glimpse into the wonderful world of the Sweet Potato Queens, a land of high-calories, low-cut dresses, and adoring followers. Bawdy, with bitingly accurate descriptions of Southern myths and stereotypes, The Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love had me holding my sides constantly from laughter. It is number one on my Christmas gift list...for all my Sweet Potato girlfriends, and the men who love them. ....

Summary: The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love
Review: Bought this book for our 8 member book club. We loved it. One friend said she laughed out loud so many times on the plane while she was reading it, she embarrassed herself! Our Book Club serves dinner and the menu was prepared from "comfort food" recipes in the book. One girl (who had not read to this chapter) tasted the pie and said "Oh, God" and we yelled "that's the name of the pie!" Makes a great gift for an openminded friend with a sense of humor. We can't wait for the sequel.

Summary: She's more of a Hot Potato!
Review: A vey funny insightful look at life. Every girl can relate to one of the Tammys! I'm going to buy one for each of my girlfriends for Xmas. This book had me laughing out loud.

Summary: The gift that keeps on giving
Review: This is a book you will pick up over and over again to read a chapter and remind yourself that you are "Queen". Be queen of anything or everything... It's a perfect gift for any occasion.

Summary: I laughed myself out of bed. Really.
Review: I laughed, I cried, I gave it five avacados! Jill Conner Browne is so funny and honest that my husband asked me to quit reading this book in bed. (Every minute or two, he asked, "Okay, what's so funny now?!" And that was actually before I fell out of bed laughing.) Those of us who have always known that women are Queens, or at least Princesses, love this book because it's all true. The Queens' attitude is one of funloving, honest, live-it-up passion. The attitude of: Have fun wherever you are, make fun if there isn't any readily available, and lavish everyday life with laughter and hilarity. These are the stories of some friends who decided to do more with every day, think highly of themselves, express their most outrageous opinions, and be happy. They did it with the classy-tacky style any girl can appreciate, and of which any man should beware!

Summary: Loved It!
Review: This book was a real Hoot!! I couldn't stop laughing as it reminded me of so many of my past relationships.

Also recommend The RoMANtic's Guide for practical tips and advice for relationships.

Summary: A wannabe, but a queen none the less
Review: Green sequin mini-dresses, stuffed to enhance certain body parts, teased fiery-red wigs, majorette boots and bright pink lipstick. Sound like the product of a young child playing dress-up? Not in the least. This outfit is just one of the many things that set the Sweet Potato Queens apart from a typical 'Southern Belle.'

"The Sweet Potato Queen's Book of Love" is a guide to such important topics as "The true magic words guaranteed to get any man to do your bidding," "Men who may need killing, quite frankly," and "What to eat when tragedy strikes, or just for entertainment."

Jill Conner Browne is amusingly blunt in "The Sweet Potato Queen's Book of Love." If easily offended, this light-hearted, but sometimes humorously crude, book may not be your best choice for reading. But, if you are looking for an easy read and an easy laugh, this is a perfect book and one that I will definitely read again.

Summary: Just as good in Person!!!
Review: I met the Queen herself yesterday at the Faulkner Literary Conference in New Orleans!! And got my picture taken with her. She is just as nice as you imagine from her book. Plus she is mighty cute. I got to hear a bit about her new book, can't wait.

Summary: Sometimes More is More
Review: Gently reared females are taught that less is more. But females also know that rules were made to be broken, and sometimes you've just got to let your hair down, tease it up, buy yourself a tiara, and strut your stuff in sequins because ... more is so much better!

The Sweet Potato Queens break all the rules with an earthy joie de vivre that is hysterical to read. Since nobody is going to do it for you, appoint yourself the queen of whatever, stock up on comfort food, and read this book. From majorette boots and white girls and suntans to men who may need killing and zippity-doo-dah, I hooted like a loon. I was raised to be prepared, but I never thought of pocket hams. I loved the possum story and the recipes for Chocolate Stuff and Fat Mama's Knock You Naked Margaritas, but my favorite was the one about the mixing bowl. You may not want your mama, if she's prissy, to be reading about making The Promise in spikes and trashy lingerie, but women of a certain age will bust a gut laughing. This is by far the funniest book I've read this year and, believe me, I'll read it again next time I get the blues.
