Summary: Much needed help for Zoners
Review: A fairly balanced cookbook, with helpful hints in the front for maintaining a zone diet. However, many of the recipes and suggestions rely heavily on high glycemic carbs, not necessarily the best for someone who is trying to stay on the diet without hunger. A beautiful salmon recipe recommends a small baked potato as accompaniment. A better suggestion would be a cup of steamed broccoli and a cup of strawberries. If you are new to the Zone, beware!

Summary: Great, Easy, and Balanced too!
Review: Although I am not a die hard zone fanatic, this book allows me to eat a balanced and delicious meal. The receipes are fast, easy to follow, and loved by my whole family (including my choosy children). The best receipe is on page 112, szechuan chicken, the best i've ever had. OPRAH NEEDS THIS BOOK.

Summary: Response to reviewer who complained of no index
Review: I agree it's too bad there's no index in this terrific cookbook, but don't blame the author! As a publishing executive, I can say that it is not the author who decides whether to include an index, but the publisher, unless, of course, the book is self-published (which this is not).

Please do yourself a favor and order this book...it's great.

Summary: Disappointed Despite Favorable Reviews from Others
Review: I was happy to find this book as I wanted some fresh ideas to incorporate into my "balanced" diet; however, I found that many, if not most, of the recipes called for ingredient(s) with a higher glycemic index. Of course I use some "unfavorable" carbs in my cooking from time to time but I think a serving that consists of one-quarter of a bagel is just silly and I'd find something altogether different to eat. The bagel is just one example, there are many more recipes that call for rice and bread and the like.

Summary: Must have for zoners!
Review: If you are a busy zoner then you will love this book. The recipes are easy to prepare and all the ones I have tried, have been outstanding. Even my picky husband and daughter love them. I like the fact that Mr. Taylor adds suggestions for balancing a meal, if the recipe is not balanced. No sitting and planning meals for hours. Just pick your meal and what your craving. It's so easy!

Summary: Delicious, easy meals for carbohydrate-conscious people!
Review: My doctor recently pronounced that my eating, although considered healthy for many years, no longer suited my "older" metabolism. As I searched for advice on changing from a high carbohydrate diet based on my years of physical exercise to low carb, I found myself confused and dismayed. The 40-30-30 philosophy led me to Bill Taylor's cookbook. My family loves the recipes, and his bits of advice are understandable. I highly recommend this book if you are stuck on delicious meals in the 40-30-30 way of eating.

Summary: Healthy, quick, and oh so flavorful!!!
Review: My family (ages 38,34,13, & 10) have tried the 40-30-30 fat burning nutrition cookbook and have had great results. The only problem was that there is a limited amount of recipes. Then while on Amazon.com, I discovered Bill Taylor's cookbook. WOW!!! Every single recipe has been incredible and easy to prepare (a lot of vegetables chopping though). My husband has been the main cook for the past 2 or 3 years in our house but this book actually has me cooking and enjoying it again! I am the type of person, along with my kids that will rarely attempt to even taste a dish made with fish. But I am here to tell you that we have made the Halibut Provencale, Baked Salmon w/tomatoes, olives, & fresh herbs, and the Halibut w/red peppers & red onions and oh my gosh...everyone ate every bit and all but licked the plate! The chicken and beef dishes are outstanding and my son who would never eat anything with cottage cheese ate a whole Egg Salad Sandwich (with cottage cheese mixed in it, he didn't have a clue!) and begged for it the next day for lunch again! The breakfasts are great and if you have never tried steel cut oats I suggest that you do! It reminded me of grits which I love, but only better and healthier! My family and I are in this for the long haul and hey, if we happen to drop a few pounds along the way, great! Our main goal is to eat fresher, more balanced foods for a healthier life and this book is the best we've found. No complicated, confusing, scientific figuring of "blocks" as in the "Zone" books and with about 100 meals and over 30 snack ideas, you simply must buy this book! The taste and quality of these meals is worth the very affordable cost of the cookbook. At this point, 10 days into it, we have made 30 different meals and have yet to be disappointed. The snacks are pretty good but not as outstanding as the meals. I wish you all the best and get ready for a wonderful taste sensation!
