Rating: Summary: How to Laugh your way through dinner. Review: I could hardly wait for the new cookbook by the gals that wrote A Dinner A Day. I come home from work and open their new book and laugh as I prepare one of their complete meals. Sometimes my children get in on the fun and help. This is one great way to get the family together for a meal that doesn't have grease as a main ingredient. I don't always follow the whole meal, but the idea of what they put together is creative and colorful. Now I have both of their books side by side and the dinner stress is gone with the wind!
Rating: Summary: The Accidental Gourmet Review: I happened to brouse the cook book section of a local book store...en route to a boat crafts section where male craftsman hang out. I was struck by the total number of cook books and appealing front pages. I don't buy many cook books and wanted to stick to a good general book, rather than the sometimes seasonal or specialty meals.I found one that stood out and it's a winner!! Five stars for a guy that wants a meal without worrying about timing, temperatures, when to get this or that ready next--it's all thought through by the authors. I tried a "Prosperous Pasta" on page 85 and yes it tasted great as well as the humor of titles throughout added to a light-hearted flavor. Following the 7 steps made it easy and with wine, a close friend, this cook book made for a tasty and fun meal. Because they have about a years supply of weeknight meals--I'm looking ahead to a good year and probably some compliments from friends thanks to an accidental purchase with a fun gourmet flavor.

Rating: Summary: The Accidental Gourmet Review: I thought this cookbook was great! I enjoyed cooking the recipies. I am no longer in that dinner rut where I have no ideas on what to make for dinners. Even my picky family likes the meals. I really like the shopping list, I just pick the week and take my book with me to the grocery store. I even saw another shopper with this cookbook in her cart. I think the recipies are easy to follow, and they have a nice variety. Thank you Sally and Suzannah for another wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: too hard to follow Review: I'm in the middle on this cookbook, it's great for grouping together a complete meal for each night of the week, recipes are on one page, with preparation steps in logical sequence, grocery shopping list is already prepared and it lays flat so you can easily keep the book open while cooking; all good attributes. HOWEVER, there is no index or table of contents so you can't find a recipe easily, the recipes have stupid names that give no clue as to what you're preparing so you have to read the whole recipe to figure out if it's a soup or salad or an entree. It just depends on if you're a good enough cook to be able to read the recipe and figure out what you're cooking. I liked the cookbook but it's very confusing to follow and find an individual recipe.
Rating: Summary: ridiculously titled recipes, awful puns and no descriptions! Review: This cookbook is a nightmare! It has two fatal flaws. First, the names of the recipes gave me very little information as to what they were (in addition to making me cringe at all the bad puns). For example, "the Teutonic Tomato"...is it a salad, a soup, a casserole, what?? I had to read the entire ingredient list and instructions before I could determine what it was and if I wanted to prepare it. Other examples of recipe titles include: "Minneapolis", "The Thighs the Limit" and "Never Beefore". How about "Chicken in White Wine Sauce"?! Secondly, In addition to a useless title, there are no descriptions of the recipe. Something along the lines of "this risotto will remind you of tex-mex flavrs" would be extremely helpful. Yes, it is thoughtfully organized with a lovely two page spread for each meal. It includes an equipment list for each day, a weekly shopping list and detailed step by step preparation instructions. Unfortunately, that's all it has going for it. What a waste of time! Next time try naming the recipes in a descriptive vs. "humorous" manner and give the reader some idea of what it is he/she is preparing.

Rating: Summary: How to Laugh your way through dinner. Review: This cookbook is as much a godsend as A Dinner a Day was when I first received that. Now my family has another complete year of weeknight meals to enjoy. I don't know what we would do without this book. Now every member of the family wants to cook dinner, even my son. I have to fight them off to get in the kitchen myself, and then we all sit down at the table together, which is a miracle in itself. The menus are easy, the shopping is a snap, and the food is delicious. And thank you, authors, for the delightful names. It's great when the cook can have a laugh over dinner. Can't wait for their next one.

Rating: Summary: Best Cookbook I own Review: This cookbook is terrific. A perfect sequel to A Dinner a Day. I didn't even know it was available until last week when I was in the market and saw a lady with it open in her shopping cart. It's another whole year of new recipes that are so quick, easy, and fun that you won't even realize you're cooking. Now I can shop at my leisure on the weekends, and come home from work during the week and have all new dinners that I know my family will love on the table in no time.
