Summary: My favorite cookbook
Review: First I want to say that I am not a diabetic, so I have no idea if this book is useful for that purpose. I am a young mom who is trying to eat sugar-free without counting carbs or points, and I want some easy recipes that we will be excited about for supper. I have been using this cookbook for over six months, and it is absolutely the best thing that ever happened in my kitchen! Of course there are a few recipes that we have tried and do not like -- I just cross them out! But I would say that 90% of the recipes that I try are easy and taste delicious. These recipes use ingredients that I have heard of, the procedures are explained in everyday language, and they end up tasting great. We are eating more variety now and trying new things on a regular basis. I also bought Mrs. Bahan's Sugarfree New Orleans, and we like it just as well. We're just hoping that she eventually puts out another cookbook!!

Summary: Enjoy delicious, healthy meals on very little time & effort
Review: For people who don't have the time or inclination to spend hours in the kitchen, but still want to enjoy tasty and healthy meals at home, Sugarfree, Quick & Easy! is a real find! It is a new cookbook of no-sugar-added recipes, by Deanie Comeaux Bahan, author of Sugarfree New Orleans. Sugarfree Quick & Easy! offers tips and information on cooking and shopping to help busy people stick to a no-sugar-added diet. For example: "If you are just starting your sugar free diet, job one is to clean out your pantry and refrigerator before you go to the store. Remove the canned corn, ketchup, biscuit and pudding mixes. Dump the sugar-laden jams, spaghetti sauces, corn syrup and white flour. Give them away. Then restock with sugar free, low glycemic index basics. Nothing is quick or easy if you have to stop what you're doing and run to the store for ingredients." The glycemic index, essential information for a no-sugar-added diet, is included in this book's foreword. The index assigns a numeric "score" to foods, based upon how rapidly they are converted to blood sugar. The lower the number, the better. This comb-bound book lays flat so it is easy to flip pages from appetizers, salads, soups, meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables and desserts recipes. Deanie wrote Sugarfree New Orleans last year for her husband Mark who is a diabetic heart patient and following the Sugar Busters! diet. Now she and many others are cooking sugar free quicker and easier. We believe this book will be popular with, not just people on sugar-restricted diets, but everyone who loves to eat and live well. Even if you are sugar free, you can enjoy eating again with recipes from this book.

Summary: Overuse of artificial sweeteners
Review: I was greatly disappointed to see sugar-free desserts loaded with artificial sweeteners. There are many creative ways to have desserts without using chemicals of highly controversial value.

Summary: Sugarfree, Quick & Easy! is so much more than just recipes
Review: I would recommend the book Sugarfree, Quick & Easy! to anybody who loves to eat but wants to be healthy. I was at Edgewater Mall here (in Biloxi, Miss.) and caught a free seminar that was given by the author, Deanie Comeaux Bahan. She has written several books about maintaining a sugar free lifestyle. Her cookbook Sugarfree, Quick & Easy! is so much more than just recipes. It is helping me already with terrific time saving tips for shopping and cooking. Thanks to this book, I have learned how to start and keep up a no sugar life, which is perfect for me, since sugar is something I am not supposed to eat! Deanie answered questions from the audience and explained the glycemic index so even I can understand it now! And the index is printed in this book. Since using Sugarfree, Quick & Easy! recipes, I am making great meals that don't show up on my waistline.

Summary: The payoff of these ideas is eating and living well.
Review: I wrote the book Sugarfree New Orleans last year after creating sugarfree recipes for my husband, Mark, who is a diabetic heart patient following the Sugar Busters! diet. I never dreamed that I'd be writing another book with all new recipes less than a year later. The success of Sugarfree New Orleans has been astounding. Everywhere I've gone, people have said, "We want more." And so here we are with Sugarfree, Quick & Easy! I've included something extra (called lagniappe in New Orleans where I live) in this book: a collection of time-saving sugarfree diet, shopping and cooking tips that help turn no-sugar-added diets into a successful lifestyle. The payoff of these ideas is eating and living well. For example: Reduce weekday stress by planning a week of meals and shopping for all ingredients at once. Plan to cook more than you'll need at one time so that you can incorporate the leftovers into another meal. For instance, instead of baking one chicken for dinner, bake two. Cut the meat off of the bones of the second one and freeze it. On a harried day, pull it out, heat it with no-sugar-added Alfredo sauce and serve over whole wheat pasta. Turn extra roast into Beef Stroganoff. Buy vegetables already chopped and cleaned if your grocery has them. They're great for making salads, stir-fries and soups. If not, don't chop one onion or green pepper. Chop three. They freeze beautifully. I want to help people remain true to their sugarfree diets, without having to sacrifice the foods that they love. Most of my recipes can be modified for low-fat diets as well. We know that a lot of the damage done by eating wrong for years can't be undone. But all of Mark's doctors agree that even at this point, a sugarfree diet is the best thing that could have happened to his health. This comb-bound book is easy to use. It makes eating and living sugarfree easy, too!

Summary: Fool proof recipes that are delicious!
Review: My boyfriend and I just started the Sugarbusters! style of eating. This book makes it so easy and very enjoyable. I have had no cravings for sugars and starches. This is not the same old steamed vegetables and baked chicken that quickly become boring. These are easy recipes using lots of herbs, creams and other things you'd never believe you could eat, lose weight and be healthy, too. My compliments to Deanie Bahan. This is a lifestyle change - not a diet. Try it! You'll be surprised at how great you feel.

Review: Not too often do I find a cookbook that makes me want to cook more! This book is not only quick & easy but the recipes are fabulous! It's surprising at how these recipes are so simple and so full of flavor. Just as tasty as some of my favorite restaurants. Imagine that! Try the "Christen's Crunchy Chicken" (using Triscuits) or the "Broccoli and Chicken Casserole". Yummm!
