Summary: Quick, Easy, & Fabulous!
Review: I recently changed my eating lifestyle by adopting the Sugar Busters plan. This cookbook, Sugar Bust For Life (Part II) is the best cookbook I have ever purchased! The recipes are so simple, they do not require any ingredients that are impossible to find (unlike some low-fat and/or gourmet cookbooks), and every recipe that I have prepared tastes unbelieveably delicious. It is very difficult to come home after a long day of work and want to cook a meal, yet this cookbook offers an abundance of flavorful, fabulous, and fast meals that I actually look forward to making. Not only have I lost weight, but I feel much more energized than I ever have. Sugar Bust For Life is a part of my life now, and I know it will be...forever!

Summary: Health & Great Taste: What More Could You Want!
Review: I usually do not respond to claims from the obviously ignorant, but in this case, I felt compelled. Unlike the reviewer from North Carolina, I have found Sugar Bust for Life invaluable as I have attempted to get my health in order. The recipes are healthy, yet fulfilling and I am always satiated through my daily exercise routines (try the Venison Chops for a real treat).

I encourage all health conscious people to follow this book as a guide to healthy living.

Summary: More recipes, wines, brands, tips to Sugar Bust for Life!
Review: Sugar Bust for Life! ... with The Brennans Part II is terrific. There are 300 new recipes, more wines and brands to use. Now, together with the first Sugar Bust for Life!, I have over 700 low sugar recipes to use. That's a lot of variety. I'll never get bored with this healthy lifestyle of eating.

Summary: GREAT RECIPES FOR EASY WEIGHT LOSS!
Review: The reader from Lake Charles sounds like a friend of the authors of Sugar Busters! Living here in New Orleans, I am well aware of their gripes. Most people that I know here and in other cities are thrilled with the wonderful selection of healthy and delicious recipes in both Sugar Bust for Life!editions. I am grateful to be able to rely on the Brennan family's expertise and Ellen Brennan's understanding of the Sugar Buster diet (she was very involved with the first edition of the original Sugar Busters! and even wrote its forward). No one has deliberatley been fooled unless one can't read. How unfortunate that the reader from Lake Charles bought the book when all the information that she/he found objectionable was on the cover. If they had read the book they would have seen that the Brennans addressed the high fat issue (often associated with the Sugar Busters! diet) by providing the readers with a low fat modification chart for low fat as well as low sugar recipes. The Brennans have shown us that we can indeed eat healthily and deliciously and still lose weight. Without this book I would never have lost 28 pounds!

Summary: Variety Is The Spice Of Life!
Review: This is a possible alternate title for this second SUGAR BUST FOR LIFE! ... WITH THE BRENNANS. The Brennans have given us over 300 new recipes, researched more acceptable brand names,suggest even more wines,obviously trying to include something for everyone who is following a low sugar lifestyle. For those who don't want seafood recipes, there are over 30 chicken recipes as well as recipes for other meats, such as turkey, pork, lamb, veal, beef. Not to mention the vegetable recipes and dessert recipes. There are new categories and good health tips. I think the reader from NC is missing the point. This book shows how you can eat well and not suffer from the usual "diet cravings," like pizza and desserts. While there are some "forbidden foods" listed, even if you indulge in eating them sparingly, the authors give you encouragement that all is not lost; that doesn't make you a failure. Just eat right tomorrow! Watching the size of your portions,using their suggestions for possible substitutions, drinking adequate water, and taking proper exercise are important, too. Smothered Chopped Sirloin and Black Eye Peas sound pretty much like "Mom's home cooking" to me! And I am glad to find such a variety of recipes:French, Italian, Southwest,Mexican, Greek,et al. Keeps my family happy. Maybe this book is for "gourmets" only-if that means people who appreciate good-tasting food and want to eat wisely and well.

Summary: For Gourmets Only
Review: This is expensive New Orleans restaurant cooking at its best, or worst, depending on your taste. Heavy on cheese & butter. 48 appetizer recipes, 5 caviar recipes, 13 crab recipes, & 17 shrimp recipes. If you don't live near the coast, these can be hard to find fresh & are expensive. There is a good selection of salads, dressings, & pizzas. However, if you like fast food or "Mom's home cooking", these French-style recipes won't appeal to you.

Review: When it comes to preparing tested, low-fat, low-sugar recipes, I am delighted that members of the family acclaimed for its superb cuisine, Ellen and Ted Brennan of THE Brennan's Restaurant in New Orleans devoted so much of their expertise and time to creating the many wonderful and varied recipes in their two super cookbooks, Sugar Bust for Life! ... with The Brennans and Sugar Bust for Life! ... with The Brennans, Part II. These two books offer such a variety of acceptable and reliable recipes for low-sugar, low-fat diets. Ellen Brennan reminds everyone in her books to exercise caution in portion sizes and to eat in moderation. After all, we all are human and occasionally are inclined to err in excess. The Brennans, however, offer support by minimizing feelings of guilt and encouraging the reader that any occasional excess in eating can be corrected easily enough by returning to the principles suggested in the diet itself. I offer my thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Brennan for their support, wisdom, and for giving me so many suggestions and menus to maintain a lifestyle of healthy eating. I have lost 20 pounds. While the concept of a low-sugar diet has been around a long time as have low-fat diets, The Brennans have written easy-to-read guidelines and easy-to-follow, tasty recipes. I recommend these books highly to anyone who wants to eat foods that taste good and help keep you healthy.
