Summary: Best Book on health EVER MADE !!!
Review: I have to admit that I was unsure and a bit afraid to start this program. I did not think I would be able to follow it. I am so glad I gave it a try. I can't think of anything that has been BETTER for me. I feel SOOO much better I have lost 26 lbs so far and my energy is great. My husband even loves the food and his cholesterol has dropped considerably. Thank you Dr. Mcdougall !!! You are the BEST !!!
UPDATE: I am down 36 lbs now and still going strong.

Summary: This is the most important book that I ever read!
Review: I really mean it when I say that this is the most important book that I ever read. This man has made a huge difference in my life. A month ago I was at the docter because of the blood tests that I took showed high cholesteral. My weight with shoes and clothing on was 226. I told the docter that I didn't want to go on cholesteral lowering medication. I said to give me 6 months and I would get myself squared away. I immediately went on the 12 day McDougall program. I feel absolutely great and have lost 16 pounds already and I have only been on the program for 30 days. Dr. McDougall is the man. I urge every one to try the program for the 12 days.

Summary: Extremely helpful diet program helped relieve my arthritis.
Review: I've been following Dr. McDougall's diet since February 1998 and have lost 20 pounds and gained enormous energy, along with freedom from joint pain and digestive disorder. It works! The diet is simple, albeit boring at times, very convenient, especially for single people, and completely satisfying. I recommend all of Dr. McDougall's books.

Summary: What every human being should know.
Review: Invaluable health information. Dr. McDougall explains, in common sense logic, what best to put in your body to support optimal human health. I experienced a dramatic rise in my energy level and spirits. I look better and no longer suffer depression. It probably isn't the easiest "diet" to follow, but he includes lots of recipies, meal plans and helpful solutions to sticking to it. If you are tired of feeling crappy, GET THIS BOOK!

Summary: THIS BOOK CAN SAVE/IMPROVE YOUR LIFE DRASTICALLY
Review: McDougall tells it like it is. If you want the scientific FACTS about health and nutrition, this is it. If you want a Watered down version that will make you more "comfortable" (but WILL kill you), then go to your doctor or the ADA. If you have a chronic illness, it can probably be reversed through lifestyle changes. But since healing you is inexpensive and simple, there is no profit motive for anybody so prevention and healing is not really promoted.

Summary: Possibly the healthiest way to loose weight.
Review: Prior to going on Dr. McDougall's diet I had been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 23 years. When I became a vegetarian long ago I hoped it would help me stay healthier. Then decades later my colesterol was good (166) but I was over 100 lbs overweight and boarderline hypertensive. I noticed at vegetarian get togethers that there were plenty of overweight vegetarians but I don't remember ever seeing obese vegans. You'd think that after 23 years as a lacto-ovo vegetarian going vegan wouldn't be that hard but truth is that I needed some help to get started. This book helped me over that hurdle.

I've been on the diet for a month now. I've lost about 16 lbs. I'm still on blood pressure medication which I'm a little bummed about because Dr. McDougal says that after a short while on his program that your BP will come down. Perhaps after I loose more weight it will but so far I'm still taking BP pills. This is a diet I feel I could stay on for the rest of my life but after I get my weight down I do plan on adding some more fat in the form of avocados, nuts, and a little oil used when cooking. One of the problems with his diet is that with so low fat the food doesn't "stick to your ribs" for long. I feel pretty satesfied after a meal but an hour and a half later I'm hungry again. If I don't have snacks with me I'm starving by the next meal time. I do think that a diet can be too low fat and this one probably is.

Review: This book outlines how to eat sensibly and as much as you want and still lose weight. I have tried this "diet" (if you can call it that) on and off for awhile now. I always feel better and lose weight but it doesn't take long for those terrible cravings to take over. If you can control the cravings (I'm working on it!) it's a wonderful way to live, lose weight, reverse disease, ect. I recommend it.
