Summary: Wonderful Cookbook!
Review: I liked the first edition so much, I had to get the second edition just for the 50 new recipes. The "hash browns" are unbelieveably wonderful; I now look forward to breakfast! I used the "Cowboy Sauce" the other day as a marinade for London Broil. Then I added horseradish to the left-over sauce for dipping the meat, and served this with Lauri's remarkable Ceasar Salad. WOW!! The praise from the family on this one dinner alone was worth buying the new edition. Thank you Lauri for another great cookbook, (I really love the new format, too!)

Summary: If it is so great, why is it out of print?
Review: I just began the Atkins diet and I'm looking for variety

Summary: It's great to have variety!
Review: I just started Dr. Adkin's diet and I can already tell that variety is the key to staying on track. I have tried several of the recipes already and have liked every one of them. The directions are easy to follow and Lauri has a good selction of different recipes. The Custard Breakfast Squares are a wonderful alternative to fried/hard-boiled eggs. The Cheescake recipe is really good and EASY as well. I bought Dr. Adkin's Quick and Easy New Diet Revolution Cookbook at the same time I bought this book and I like this book better. The ingredients are not as "fancy" and, therefore, more affordable and easier to find in the local market. This book is really a winner!

Summary: Excellent recipes for both low-carb diets and good flavor
Review: Thanks for a great cookbook. The recipes are simple, nothing too fancy or "out there", just really good food. I would recommend this book to those on a low-carb diet, as well as anyone who just wants a good simple cookbook.

Summary: Easy great tasting recipes
Review: I have been trying the low-carb diet, and with some success. The problem is the repetition of food. Lauri's book offers easy recipes, with ingredients easily found in grocery stores. They are flavorful (lots of cream!). The avocado soup is too good to be true and whips together in no time. I made the spinach mushroom salad for a company funtion and people couldn't believe how terrific it was. If you need variety to your low-carb meals, this book will deliver. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I haven't tried ALL the recipes yet.

Summary: lo on the carbs - high on the flavor
Review: Newburg Sauce, peanut sauce, avocado soup hot and spicey asparagus salad - I got hungry just reading the titles. If any of you have tried the standard lo-carb approach you'll know two things - one, it works; and two, most likely you'll give it up because you'll find yourself in a loop of eating the same things over and over. If you're about done with the lo-carb approach or are eyeing the neighbors cat as dietary variety -- STOP -- buy this inexpensive book. The worst that can happen is you will learn some wonderful recipes for your cooking and eating enjoyment. The book is straight forward, recipes are easy to make, and most of all they are lo-carb. FINALLY a lo carb book with some PIZAZZ!! Lo carb can be fun to eat -

Summary: My Favorite Low Carb Cookbook
Review: I started trying low carb living for my husband and I since we both wanted to eat leaner. So far this is the best low carb cookbook that I have been able to find. Some recipes are a bit high in fat, but you can substitute ground turkey for ground beef and the like. I know that you're not supposed to worry about fat with low carb diets, but I think that it only makes sense to stick with lean turkey, chicken, and fish when possible. Also, the author tends to recommend Sweet-N-Lo as a sweeter, I have used Slenda instead and had successful results. Overall, if you're a beginner or advance with low carb eating, you can probably find some helpful recipes from this book.

Summary: the best cookbook i have ever purchased
Review: The recipes I tried were very good and applicable to a low carb lifestyle. I did notice, however, some editing problems amounting mainly to ingredients in the instructions that are not listed in the ingredients section of the recipe. Therefore, amounts remained ambiguous. I just guessed. Cooking is about nothing if not creativity.

Summary: It's ok
Review: The intro of this book is helpful, giving a general overview for people who might not know a lot about a low-carb diet. The recipes are varied and there really is something for everyone. The ingredients are not fancy, many of which would be found in most household kitchens or your everyday grocery store. My biggest issue with this book is that it does not tell you the amount of fiber in each dish. This is important because fiber is one of the things that you get to subtract from total carbs (ie. it doesn't count!) and that is important. Some of the recipes are also a little vague and I question the actual total number of carbs if you tried to make the dish yourself. For example, there is a recipe for Alfredo Chicken. One of the ingredients is alfredo sauce, but such a recipe is not found in the book and most brands that I viewed in the grocery store were fairly high in carbs. Like I said, it was O.K.
