Summary: Creative healthy cooking for everybody...the best!
Review: To quote from the header for "Mushroom Sesame Tofu Stew": "Plain, simple, satisfying...a dish that somehow becomes greater than the sum of its parts..." This tells the story. The book is easy to follow, with generally common ingredients that blend together to make wonderful, tastes. As a not-so-serious cook, who is NOT vegetarian, but looking for "healthy" food, this book was a find that I will treasure. Recipe analysis and cross-referencing for ingredients round out an excellent diverse selection of recipes, 300 in all. Aromatic Middle Eastern Tofu-stuffed peppers, Banana muffins made with rolled oats, New England Squash Soup... Can't wait to explore the rest...yum!

Summary: Delicious!
Review: We received this as a wedding present and have loved everything we've made in it. The Festive Black Bean Chili is fast, easy and GREAT. We also loved the Curried Sweet Potato Roti and Golden Basmati Rice. The spices used are phenomenal -- making this the best "healthy" cookbook we've ever had.

Summary: The most used cook book in our home!!
Review: What a wonderful suprise, the Moosewood Low-Fat Favorites has made going "veggie" easy and tasty for both myself and my "die hard" meat and potatoe guy! This book not only introduces the reader to new foods and tastes, it does so in a simple easy to follow way. The glossary is quite helpful in this book and even the authors views shared in the beginning on food and the writing of this book got us both off to a great start eating healthier....The recipes are not just low-fat they are naturally healthy and are composed of unprocessed flavorfull foods.....we've loved using this cook book!

Summary: This book is fabulous
Review: While I am neither a vegetarian nor a vegan my wife and I enjoy eating healthy meals using more vegetables than red meat or poultry. I have used this book numerous times, especially when we entertain. There are plenty of interesting recipes that are not only healthy but easy to make as well. I think every household should have at least one Moosewood cookbook!

Summary: Not just for vegetarians
Review: While staying at a friend's house, I cooked several dishes from this cookbook. I was impressed with the flavorful results -- all from the combination of ingredients, not from a lot of added seasoning. Yes, you can make even a bland dish taste OK with enough herbs but this cookbook produces yummy stuff with very little "dressing up" necessary.

Summary: blech!
Review: Yuck! I tried a few recipes from this book, and they were just terrible. They ranged from bland and flavorless to downright inedible. The food may be low-fat and healthy, but if nobody will eat it, it won't do you much good! My recommendation: "The 15-minute vegetarian gourmet" by Paulette Mitchell, which is a wonderful book.
