Summary: Excellent, informative and simple!
Review: I have been involved with soy products and their obvious medical benefits for some time now. I finally found a cookbook that offers new and exciting ways to cook with soy products that don't have to be repetitive and boring.I have really enjoyed experimenting with many of these innovative and different recipes. It has not only been delicious and fun, but it really has been excellent, informative and simple, Thanks to the author.

Summary: I recommend you pass on this one!
Review: I have both never written a review and never returned a book before and I have done both for this book. I looked carefully over the variety of soy cookbooks available on Amazon and was particularly pleased with the reviews this book received and so I purchased it.

Unfortunately, when I received the book, I was quite disappointed. The book calls for all sorts of specialty items (soy butter, soy ham, soy yogurt, soy cheese, etc) and then pretty much just uses those soy items in an otherwise normal recipe. Even still, most of the recipies did not sound interesting or appealing.

I would recommend that you try a different soy cookbook... and let me know when you find a good one!

Summary: Soy dishes are SO great, unless...
Review: I have long been curious about forms of soy other than the tofu and tempeh I know, and this book adds to my knowledge and thereby helps create even more variety to my asian cooking. My family and friends are as happy as I am at the surprises I can come up with. Overall, this book includes interesting info and tips, too. There is one important caveat, however: anyone who must maintain a low-fat or a low-carb diet will not be happy with this volume unless ways are found to substitute for these food items.

Summary: Outstanding overview of soyfoods especially tempeh.
Review: I just picked this title up and since I was a tempeh producer in Michigan I have earmarked many of the delicious tempeh and tofu recipes in this book. I like it since many of the recipes are easy to read and the ingredients are available in most any supermarket. I would enjoy writing to the author of this book and perhaps when I am in the Los Angeles area, we could get together. At our Lansing potluck I will be taking along a recipe from this cookbook and will let others know about it. I wish I had more people to cook with but now I'll just enjoy this alone. However, next week I'll be going to several vegetarian cooking classes and this title will be on my list to share with the class. Thank you for yet another wonderful book about the world of soy. Summary: My favorite vegetarian cookbook
Review: I love this cookbook. My husband is a vegetarian so I try to find recipes that include protein without a lot of fat. The recipes in here are perfect for that. We love tofu and tempeh - as opposed to the heavy cheese and cream dishes many other vegetarian books might have.

The cookbook is easy to follow with all the nutritional info at the end of each recipe. It even tells you regular protein plus soy protein content. Most meals are quick to make. I am able to find most ingredients at my local grocery store without a special trip to the health food store.

My favorie dishes are the Near Eastern Curried Tempeh, Corn Chowder, and the Soy Sloppy Joes.

I recommend this cookbook to anyone, vegetarian or not.

Summary: Healthy cooking with great flavor
Review: I purchased this book shortly after switching to a vegetarian diet. What a life saver! Most vegetarian cookbooks I had found relied upon excess cheese for protien. Or worse yet, many books that claim to be vegetarian use such things as chicken broth, fish, shellfish, and other products which contain animal products. This book is different. It shows many ways to use different soy products; not relying just upon tofu, but introducing tofu, soy milk, and soy cheese. The instructions are easy to follow and the resulting food is quite tasty!

Summary: I am not a cook and I love it
Review: I was looking for EASY and healthy alternatives to eating out and to store bought meals. This book is great for that. The Tofu Florentine is especially good!

Summary: The Whole Soy Cookbook
Review: I was very disappointed with this cookbook. I have been a vegetarian for 10 years. None of the recipes in this book were appealling to me. I stopped eating meat for many reasons, including just not enjoying the taste. This book calls for a lot of fake "meat". If I don't want to eat real sausage fake sausage isn't going to much for me either. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Summary: Hard to get ingredients
Review: If you live in a town or city which don't have orienatl food markets, you will have to do extra work to obtain many of the special ingredients in this book through mail order or long shopping trip. Although I am in Japan, one of the oriental countries, it is not easy to get those ingredients. I don't recommend this book if you are just planning to cook with soy beans in your kitchen.
