Rating: Summary: I didn't realize it was weight watchers!!!! Review: I was browsing through this book and was intrigued by the recipes...they seemed simple and I love Italian food. I found several that I wanted to try and then started to notice the nutritional info...they were all so healthy!! Then I noticed the Weight Watchers line in the title!!! No wonder!! I have tried ten recipes so far in this book and have loved every one! Most can be made with things I already have on hand...no strange ingredients. The chicken marsala was great as was the roasted pepper pesto over penne pasta. We loved the peas with prosciutto. My husband and two teens have loved it all and never knew it was "health' food.I highly recomend this book for busy cooks who love Italian food. It's so nice to get away from 'diet' food!
Rating: Summary: Good Selection but requires some planning Review: I was really happy to find an Italian cookbook whose recipes are healthy, but get away from the typical lasagna and meatballs. There's a good variety of authentic recipes similar to those I enjoyed abroad (like broccoli sauteed with garlic and anchovies). The book also includes recommendations with most recipes for items in the book that work well with them. So far, I've followed a lot of these meal suggestions. That said, a lot of the recipes call are time-consuming or require some preplanning. Also, the portions aren't consistent from dish to dish. So, one roasted vegetable dish I made created a ton of food, while a pasta and cheese dish has itsy bitsy portions. I think it's that the book shies away from using everything low-fat (lots of regular cheeses, meats, etc.), so I've found myself making sure I plan to make salads and veggies with the meals. Because of the time investment in many of the recipes, I haven't used this book nearly as much as I would like. On the other hand, It's been worth buying for me just to have the chance to cook a greater variety of Italian food.
Rating: Summary: Proves that eating healthy is easy! Review: If you love Italian food, you'll love this cookbook. It has great ideas for all your favorite foods like Calzones, Deep Dish Pizza, Biscotti, Ravioli, Linguine with Calamari, Meat Filled Tortellini, Mozzarella Bocconcini with roasted Peppers, etc. All of the receipes are authentic Italian. They don't leave out any of the flavor. The portions are good sized and I got to eat all my favorite foods and still loose weight.

Rating: Summary: Proves that eating healthy is easy! Review: My mom and I have made several recipes from this book, and we have loved them all -- and we're Italian!! I most recently made the tiramisu recipe for dessert, of which I was a little bit skeptical. We were so pleasantly surprised with the results! It wasn't overly difficult to make, and it tasted fabulous. If you love to indulge in good food like we do, but you want to treat your body right (whether you are on the Weight Watchters program or not), THIS COOKBOOK IS A MUST!!!!
Rating: Summary: Boring Ingredients = Amazing Taste Review: Remarkable authentic fresh Italian taste without the fat. Try the eggplant parmigiana. The sauce is amazingly fresh and flavorful. The Aromatic Bean Soup made with fennel bulbs, celery, ginger root and white beans satisfied my hunger for "fat" without adding calories. Don't be deceived by how boring the ingredients look because when the dish comes together, the taste is amazing. The recipes are new, low fat twists on old Italian favorites without compromising taste or quality. I would serve these recipes to guests. Some reviews mention inconsistencies with yield or difficulties. Don't let that stop you from trying this book. I like to cook so difficult recipes are not a problem, but I also appreciate the shorter recipes in the book. The different yields actually help the cook learn how to cut down or increase ingredients for serving self or family members. It's nice to have a book with vegetable recipes and soup recipes that have great taste and little to no fat compared with other high-fat Italian dishes. It's my #1 book.
Rating: Summary: Great buy! Review: The bad reviewers of this book are crazy. I own tons of cookbooks and this is one of the best I've seen. It offers wonderful rich tasting authentic food for litttle calories and fat. Entries such as the three-cheese pizza made me feel like I was eating from a restaurant when I was eating the foods I cooked from this book. The recipes are amazing and until you buy this book you won't know what good food is. I also found I had many of the ingredients for the recipes in my kitchen!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful but impractical Review: The lay-out & the photographs in this book were beautiful but there were very few dishes that were practical to cook on a regular basis. I consider myself to be an above average cook but these recipes called for too much time and too many out of the ordinary ingredients to bother with. I've tried to find recipes to use from this book but it has really become a "stay on the shelf" cookbook.
