Summary: In defense
Review: I went into menopause at 45 and gained 30 pounds in one year. All of a sudden I'm not sure what to do. I ask that this weight come off so I can think of other things besides what I look at. But I'm an American Woman living in this world and it's all around me. I can't handle the weight. My friend kept telling me to add fish and go into The zone. But the book baffled me. I just kept excercising. I ate less and exercised one hour and a half every day heavy for three months. Took diet bills, did what ever it took and the weight turned to muscle but that was it. I lost weight for a week. Then I ate and exercised and gained even more. Suzanne Somers diet is great because it's so healthy. You can eat vegatarian easily. I eat Indian food a lot and it works perfectly. I don't eat the rice and it's a carbo meal. I put fish with vegtables and it's protein. I think of it as Krishna's diet.(Krishna loved Cows Cream and butter and fruit.) I've had to add fish to my diet which I'm not fond of but menopause for me has not been easily. I've been on this diet for 20 days on level one. I don't know what I would add on two. It's so easy. I have lost two 1/2 inches around my waist, once inch in the hips and one inch in my thighs. I havent' lost any weight yet. It's been great to eat so heathy. Giving up sugar is no big deal. Cream is very sweet, and so is butter and actually ripe tomatoes are the best. I have no problem staying on this diet for life. I like Suzanne's cheerful nature and attitude. I think she must by now be a professional at this weight stuff and the best to champion the diet. If this doesn't work I'm going to Dr. Atkins which makes me very concerned as I can't really stand the thought of two weeks of no fruits and vegatbles. Oh lease Diet Devi make this work. I like it. Here is a good flan receipe and it's really great. 5 Eggs, 1 cup of cream, 1 cup of water and put it together with nutmeg and vanilla.Put it in a pan of water and cook for 40 minutes on 400. I don't add sugar because i find it way to sweet after giving it up. ALthough it sounds horrible to eat so much cream it is very satisfying and it's hard to really eat too much. I hope this is working. My seond favorite is I cut a large eggplant in strips and dried it in the oven on 200. The thin slices are chewy and good as a substitute for bread when I get depressed about eating cheese straight. Good luck everyone.

Summary: Eating to help others
Review: I love this book. It's delicious. I'm so glad that it came out and now that I practice what it says, I have truly seen dramatic results in my life.

I enthusiastically recommend that you read this book because it can not only help you to loose weight but perhaps, just like it did with me, it can help you to gain the confidence to be the best you that you can be.

Summary: I'm terrified for the people who are following this diet!
Review: I am utterly horrified by what Suzanne is promoting. She is correct in abdicating sugar, white flour products, and processed foods, but misleading people into thinking they can be healthier by eating all the meat and fat they want is terrifying to me. Not enough people are aware of all the health risks they are taking by eating animal products. PLEASE, if you are truly concerned about your health, research veganism - it's a diet devoid of animal products. It may sound drastic, but once you learn enough, it's benefits are undeniable. Meat and dairy products contribute to cancers, heart disease, and calcium deficiency. (Animal proteins actually leech calcium from your bones!) And you may lose weight now, but what are your arteries going to look like in 10 or 20 years? Animal products are the ONLY source of that menace, artery-clogging cholesterol. PLEASE, don't just take her word for it, or my own, for that matter. For your health and the health of your friends and family, look into veganism. There are books on it available online, and of course, at bookstores. ( "Vegan", by Erik Marcus, is a good place to start.) And if you're worried about what you could eat, there are TONS of delicious (many low-fat/fat-free) recipes available for you. There are alternatives to any animal-product ingredient you can think of! I wish you all health and happiness.

Summary: A great way to live with food!
Review: Even if you don't have a weight problem, this book is fabulous for digestion. I had only about 8 pounds to lose but I have lived with severe digestive problems most of my adult life. I couldn't eat any fruit or most vegetables, I thought it was the spices in food and wouldn't touch garlic and many other great spices. this diet has freed me. Now that I understand the digestive process I have learned how to eat and I am not sick anymore. I weigh 110 pounds at 47 years old. Thank you Suzanne I will eat like this forever.

Summary: Eat Great Lose Weight worked against big odds.
Review: We live in Acapulco half the year, and the first winter gained 15 pounds each, with the rich Mexican food plus a couple of margaritas and wine every night. Not acceptable. We heard about Eat Great Lose Weight, bought and read it, and started the diet. During the first five weeks, we lost 10 pounds, and during the next eight weeks, another 8 pounds, AND WE DID THE BIG NO-NO, continued drinking margaritas and wine, AND STILL LOST. It's healthy, easy, and you're never hungry. We're ordering the new book too.

Summary: Finally, someone did it right !!!
Review: Suzanne Somers may not be "the" expert on food, but she has done her homework. It goes to show that maybe all of those so called experts out there may not know everything. If you really want to understand why this new way of eating (you can't call it a diet -- it's a way of life)works, read the forward by a very reliable doctor that deals with a lot of diabetic patients. If you still are skeptical, pick up a basic physiology book. I've taken graduate level physiology and it explains these basic concepts so plainly -- it's almost odd that doctors seem to be deviating from basic scientific norms. It works!!! That's all that I can say. Read the book cover to cover -- after even a few days of Somersizing you will be dying to go out and run because of all the energy that is released from your fat reserves! And after that if you ever eat something badly combined boy do you know it. Now I know why I was always bloated even after what the experts called "healthy" meals. Maybe they were, but they were badly combined. Thanks Suzanne!!

Summary: The ABSOLUTE BEST way to lose weight and stay healthy!
Review: I got Suzanne's first Somersizing book a few months ago and have lost 10 pounds. I'm not overweight- I'm just not an healthy eater. Yet, by becoming an healthy eater I lost the weight. The only complaint I had was that there weren't a lot of recepies. No sooner had I said that- I found out that she was coming out with this book. The recipes are incredible. This works! You just have to be dedicated. If you get all of the FUNKY FOOD out of sight- then it's that much easier. The other night we went to an all-you-can-eat pizza place that we constantly went to before I started Somersizing and I really felt terrible afterwards. Thank you so much, Suzanne. I feel wonderful now- and I even have people at work trying it out.
