Summary: Excellent Ideas in this Book!
Review: I was very skeptical in buying this book but I am very glad I did! I have just started to follow the ideas in this book but can tell already that they are exactly what I needed to lose the weight I haven't lost from having my son 2 1/2 years ago. The combinations of Proteins/Fats and Veggies and Carbos and veggies, etc. makes alot of sense to me but I will admit at first the recipes were very very intimidating to me. Don't let it scare you. Start by using the quick reference guide at the end of the book to get used to putting various foods together, then start using the recipes. I just got all the ingrediants together for some of the recipes I want to try from the back of the book and I must say they look easy enough, and save for a few ingrediants that may have to be found at a whole foods store or specialty store, I found everything I needed.

Another tip I have is for lunch, if you don't have time to make one of the recipes, steam a veggie and buy a grilled chicken sand. at a fast food place and don't eat the bun! I did that today and felt satisified and happy to have followed the plan. It's not difficult to do and makes alot of common sense. For you people who thought you could buy the book and instantly lose 10 pounds - get back to reality! Eating right takes work, eating wrong is easy.

I found the book very informative and interesting and will probably read it again to pick up what I missed the first time. I found the pictures in her book very interesting also. I can tell you right now she has every right to be proud of her family and if I had written that book I would have included my family too!

I would love to get emails from people who have quick recipes that they are using that are working on this plan and would love to share any ideas I have too. I really believe this book is it. One reader made a comment about contacting Suzanne Summers with questions, I would love to too, but to thank her too!

HAPPY READING!

Summary: Content and concept are reasonable
Review: I enjoyed reading the book and learning about the concepts of food combining, metabolism and appetite satisfaction. The content of the book and its author makes for very believable reading. I am comfortable with this way of changing my eating habits; it's no hassle. I believe however, that I should lose more weight so I will stay with the program. I would like to know why it is not working for me as well as it should. What could I be doing wrong? Goodbye funky foods forever. I pretend I am allergic!

Summary: Thank you from me and my family
Review: I think Suzanne Somers has done a great job with the new get skinny booK! I have lost 6 lbs. in one week. I am a borderline diabetic with 70 lbs to lose. Six pounds is the tip of my iceburg. It is truly working. I was eating lots of carbos like white bread. I loved corn on the cob, I also will miss carots. The best thing is I am not experiencing sugar highs and crashes. I was living like this all the time. I think its good to give up the junkfood only because I was always hungry. It won't help anyone really feel good. Digesting food the right way is making me feel like I have energy which I had none. My bloodpressure also came down a little. I have changed a few of the recipes a touch by adding a little more brocolli to the brocolli soup. I like it more that way. As much as its only the beginning I am slowly gaining my self esteem back. Which I had lost. I've tried so many diets in my life and I believe this works without the hungry all the time feeling. I also belive that the self esteem raises when you feel better . I would never say this if I did not believe it as I am a realist which a lot of people do not like in people. But thats o.k. with me. Thank you Suzanne Sommers. You are a beautiful person on the inside to share your knowledge with people who really can benefit from it. I'm one of them.I think the inside is so important to really get to know people. You are a beatiful person on the outside too. I am doing level one. Its not hard! Sincerely, Marianne

Summary: Terrific to be eatting again.
Review: I have followed this book religiously for one month. The first week I lost 4 lbs. and nothing since. I walk 4 miles a day and I'm eatting less and less. When will it start to "melt away"? One more thing, in both books Suzanne talks about Herbs de Provence but never says what they are. I also agree that there is way toooooo much "wonderful family".

Summary: The male view-point
Review: Too many weight lose books only show the female angle, my wife ordered the book and thinks it's great. So, with that in mind I decided to try it also. It is difficult to try any programs with my work schedule but I decided to at least try the basics and after 3 weeks I've lost over 13 lbs.

Summary: To Dazed and Confused
Review: To the dazed and confused reader that is having problems - somewhere in Suzanne Somers' first book, Eat Great, Lose Weight, she mentioned that it took her about two months to see results, and that the weight kind of melted off overnight. Since we are all different, we all probably will have different results - some will lose faster than others. I'm not sure about the blood type thing - I have read it somewhere, but don't know what my type is (believe it or not). I'll have to check on it. I found that if I cut down the cheese and bread, at least for me, that I got quicker results. My advice would be to try a plan more in accordance with your blood type for a short while to see if you get better results - if you do, then maybe there is something to that, and you can add that to your store of knowledge, and adjust the eating plan to suit you. It's worth a try. Good luck! (P.S. It took me a while to see results, too, until I cut back on the dairy a little and the bread. I seem to do better with more protein - protein also seems to do real well at controlling my appetite).

Summary: It could be a winner
Review: I started sommersizing about a week ago. I haven't weighed yet, but I feel as though I've lost. I probably could lose more if I would stop cheating. I'm not crazy about vegetables. I like okra and squash, but they have to be breaded which is a no-no on Level One. Could someone give me suggestions? I think though if I really stuck with it, this diet could be the one to change my life. I've been constantly depressed about my weight ever since the birth of our daughter. My husband thinks I'm crazy. But we are about to move back to Hawaii and I don't want to be fat the second time around. We lived there about 3 years ago and I didn't like going to the beach. Could anyone help me on recipes for this plan? Suzanne's recipes are a little too extreme for me.

Summary: Great, healthy way of eating - read more on this
Review: For those embarking on "somersizing," I highly recommend to complement Ms. Somers's book with that by Diana Schwarzbein (who wrote the introduction to "Get Skinny..."), "The Schwarzbein Principle." Although Ms. Schwarzbein does not advocate food-combining, the essential principles of reducing carbohydrates and increasing the amount of protein and good fat in your diet are the same and are scientifically explained. Food combining simply accelerates the weight loss and makes it easier to control the amount of carbs we consume.

This is a great way of eating, which not only allows you to lose excess weight effortlessly but makes your skin look better and gives you more energy. The mood swings are a thing of the past - as is the constant running to the snack machine in the afternoons. And there is no fear of dining out - "somersizing" allows so many choices on any menu, you don't even have to explain to your friends (or dates) that you are on a "special" eating plan!

Summary: She rambles on and on about how this diet works
Review: I was very disappointed about this book. She clearly has a big ego. I surely didn't want to see her family on practically every page. I bought this book hoping I could learn from it. Not how "fabulous" her family is! This book should be titled Suzanne Somers ' Look At How Great My Life Is'
