Summary: will make you want to eat your vegetables
Review: Like others who have reviewed this book, I can attest to the fact that the recipes are relatively simple to prepare, very nourishing and tasty, and make you feel vital, fresh, and energized. Whenever I have guests coming over for anything, I reach for this book. Everything that comes out of it is just so delicious, guests frequently ask me for the recipes. I had a friend stay with me recently, and we had been out and about, fairly busy all day, and came back to my place too tired to spend any real time fussing in the kitchen; I reached for this book and sure enough found a tasty recipe for zucchini casadillas that were ready, along with a fruit salad, in only about 15 minutes. These recipes are so simple to prepare I've even taken some pre-prepared ingredients camping (along with tinfoil), and cooked up near gourmet meals over the campfire!

This book is a compliment to an eating/lifestyle program that Dr. Dean Ornish calls the life-choice program, because he emphasises that followers of this program are making a choice to eat healthfully to make MORE of your life. And that is EXACTLY what the recipees in this book--delicious, nourishing, simple, easily adaptable--have really allowed me to do. No matter what I'm doing--entertaining, camping, or just cooking for one--I know that there is always a real treat waiting for me when I open this book.

Summary: "Eat More, Weigh Less?" Really?
Review: No question about it. Ornish is much better than Atkins. Especially for your heart. But can you really, as Ornish promises, "Eat More, Weigh Less"? The answer is NO. If you try to eat all you can on these recipes, as I did, I guarantee you the result: you will gain weight as I did. Even get fat! Many fat veggans in India, you know. Not to mention U.S.

As the New York Times and some other places have pointed out, Dr. Ornish is not exactly slim.

If you wish to achieve dramatic weight loss, shed body fat, make it stick for life, and do it in the most healthy way possible, and have a very nice life, then your best bet is The Elixxir Program.

I have lost 45 pounds. And have kept it off for over three years. And it doesn't require you to be veggan. As Ornish does. And it does not prohibit alcohol in moderation. And it does not obsess about restricting fat calories to 10% or less.

Haven't heard of it? It is known only to certain circles in the know. But you can get a copy of The ImmorTalist Manifesto: Stay Young & Save the World" by Elixxir. Elixxir is known as "the only anti-aging guru who has actually stayed young." (Investor's Business Daily, Marilyn Much, senior reporter)

But The Elixxir Program is not only anti-aging but also anti-heart disease and anti-stroke. And with more scientific studies to prove it than Ornish. So why not retard your aging and heart disease at the same time?

The ImmorTalist Manifesto will tell you about The Elixxir Program on excerpt at the back. And then you can search for and go to Elixxir's website. There you will find info about The Elixxir Program. Get the Executive Memo about The Elixxir Program.

You don't have to be veggan and abstain from fine wine and spirits for the rest of your life!

Summary: Scientific and easy to use!
Review: This book was written by a respectable medical researcher whose works has been published in various medical journals...

My wife and I have use those recipes and to our surprise the food look visually appealing as well as delicious!

We have found the recipes easy to use. It took significantly less than than other vegetarian cookbooks (some of which are loaded with fat) took about 2 hours to make. On average, we found it took from 1/2 to 1 hour to prepare.

I also highly recommend reading Part One in Ornish's earlier book, "Eat more, weigh less". That essential section laid out, in depth, the foundataion for this book.

Critics who said Ornish's program is extreme or hard have obviously NEVER tried out any of the recipes in THIS book!! The critics also failed to provide evidence for this purported "difficulties." If you are still skeptical, go to the library to try out the book before buying. (I'm not sure if the libraries carry these type of books) What have you got to lose?

Summary: Too lowfat, how about some nuts and/or olive oil
Review: This is a good book for obese people who want to lose weight. If you want to maintain your present weight, you may want to consider eating nuts and olive oil. Moreover, Dr. Ornish leaves out all the awful diseases that are linked to dairy proteins. Read Robert Cohen's Milk the Deadly Poison and for vegetarian nutritional info, I prefer the Vegetarian Way over Dr. Ornish's book. Either way, saying goodbye to meat and dairy will make you feel much better...as long as you eat a good vegan diet.

Summary: An Excellent Book
Review: This is just not a diet book - it calls for changes in what you buy at the grocery store and how you prepare the food. It requires change in basic patterns of living. Diet books come and go. They are often among the Amazon.com top 100 list of best selling books. Having said that I think that in this particular case any reasonable person would want to own this book. We can all use some more help in planning our diets, especially from a person such as Dr. Ornish. I think of this book more as having Dr. Onish as a personal consultant.

I bought his other book "Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease" when it first came out about 14 years ago. After reading his first book I never smoked again and have improved my diet and reduced the stress in my life, all part of his plan. I thought it was an important and convincing book even if it might not be 100% accurate. His ideas can only help so I am a strong advocate of his books.

Needless to say we consume a variety of food ranging from healthy or just simply bad. Many people have altered their diets and have changed the way in which they buy and prepare food adding more fresh fruit and vegetables to the their diet. Anything from Ornish deserves a serious look.

The recipes are a bit different and you will have to change the way you buy food but that is part of the idea behind the book. He has a nice broad selection of over 100 healthy dishes and it is also a source of ideas to make other dishes.

No brainer and good value. Recommend Buy. Five Stars.

Summary: Quick and Easy
Review: True to the title, this book is full of everyday recipes. I'm not as strict a vegetarian as the book advocates, but I do like to eat light and still enjoy food. Many of the recipes in this book are so easy and speedy, I keep coming back to them for quick weeknight dinners. We like the Haystacks and the no-fat hummus, both a 15-minute deal. I also liked his suggestions for roasting vegetables for sauces instead of sauteing. It adds a nice depth of flavor without fat. This is not a complicated cookbook, but it is very tasty. It definitely fits into a busy person's long-range plan for eating healthfully.

Summary: GOOD VALUE FOR YOUR DOLLAR
Review: Who ever thought food could taste so good and be healthy! There are not a lot of recipes in this book in comparison to many other cookbooks but the variety is endless and there is something for everyone. The critical factor is that the recipes provided here are low in fat and cholesterol, not to mention very tasty. What will make these recipes so appealing, apart rom the health issue, is the simplicity of the recipes. The reader will find everything from Arkansas chili (great for serving to company) to scrumptous carrot cake with tempting creamy cheese frosting - so delicious! With this book, the reader will find value for their dollar and some healthy, nutritious meals for you, your family and friends. Why waste your time and money on junk food when you can eat healthy and enjoy every bite?
