Summary: I use this cookbook all the time & I have lots of cookbooks
Review: I have at least 12 low carb cookbooks and have checked many out of the local library. I have three favorites I use all the time and this is one of them. I love that the recipes are all under 10 carbs. (I've actually gone through some of my cookbooks with highlighters so I can find a particularly low carb recipe fast; green for 0-3 carbs, yellow for over 3-7 carbs, pink for over 7 carbs). I didn't cooked before going low carb and every recipe I've tried from this book has turned out great. Some I use regularly because they are so simple and delicious - like fake fudge and shake and bake chicken legs. If you only want to buy a few low carb cookbooks make sure this is one of them. CC

Summary: Doesn't get any easier than this!
Review: I have to say that I use Sharron's 'lo-carb' cuisine book almost every day. I've had parties, holidays, you name it and have used this book to everyone's delight! Really, I haven't found one recipe we haven't loved yet.

When I started eating low carb I quickly became bored with what I thought my options were. I felt discouraged because I couldn't imagine eating another cheeseburger, but I liked the health benefits this new way of eating was giving me. I picked up this cookbook, and all of that changed. There were so many tasty options available now- I couldn't wait to start trying recipies. The Fake Fudge and Silky Choco-Peanut Butter Pie are lifesavers!!!

The funny thing is, before I found this book I hated cooking. In fact, I just about knew how to boil water, literally, and that was it. My whole family is amazed how I've become "domesticated" now that I cook/bake all the time, but the truth is I have so much fun using Sharron's recipies and loving what turns out!!! You will too- I highly recommend this book!

Summary: This Cookbook is a Winner
Review: I have to say that this cookbook is the one low carb cookbook I keep coming back to again and again. I have never read one that has clearer directions, and is more enjoyable or well laid out.

I am also baffled by the comments of the reviewers that say the book relies too heavily on soy - there are very few recipes with soy in them, or if they do call for soy, a substitute is always suggested for those avoiding soy. Did those reviewers actually read this book?

The only thing missing from the book is some color photos of prepared dishes, but as the directions are so crystal clear, this is really not a problem.

Summary: Extreme Lo-Carb Cuisine: 250 Recipies With Virtually No Carb
Review: I have tried many of Sharron's recipes, and they are tried and true. They are so delicious, you wouldn't know you are eating an alternative way. I never feel deprived when using the recipes from her books. I feel like I could have company over all the time and feed them like kings and queens. I recommend her books to anyone and everyone!!!!

Summary: Good recipes, but some strange and hard to find ingredients
Review: I just began a low carb diet and I purchased both "15 Minute Low-Carb Recipes" and this book, both books have some great recipes, but I'll have to say that I prefer the 15 minute low carb recipe cookbook a bit better because the ingredients in that book are much easier to find. In Extreme Lo-Carb Cuisine, a lot of recipes called for soy protein and milk and egg protein, since I live in a small town and couldn't find these products, I had to purchase them over the internet and they cost me over $25 to buy. But I still find this cookbook to be worth while...just know that if you are new to low carb eating you will have to purchase some additional products to stock your pantry with.

Summary: Great Cookbook!
Review: I just received the cookbook, "Extreme Lo-Carb Cuisine" by Sharron Long. I haven't actually tried the recipes yet, but I read through it last night and I would definitely recommend it.

There are 250 recipes in it from appetizers to desserts and it also includes some kid-friendly recipes. There are recipes for salami, beef jerkey, crackers, sausage gravy, egg rolls, crepes, pancakes, muffins, soups, stews, fish, chicken, beef, pork, an egg and veggie lasagna, a high-protein wrap, veggie recipes, sauces, syrups, salad dressings, homemade yogurt, and low-carb dessert recipes. I like that it has a little description before each recipe. And there are tips throughout the book on the bottom of most pages.

All of the recipes contain 10 grams of carbs or less per serving.
This would be a good low-carb cookbook to add to your collection.

Summary: Excellent cookbook for carb controlled diets
Review: I purchased two of these cookbooks, one for myself, low carber since 10/03 and one for a gift for my mother who has been enjoying the benefits of low carb eating for almost a year. The recipes are easy to follow and can be made with the basic staples of a low carb pantry. Sharron understands low carb and the need for easy to make entrees, side dishes and desserts. Be sure to try the Carmel Apple Cheesecake first! Yum!

Summary: Glad I didn't pay for this
Review: I received this book the other day as a Christmas gift. Boy am I glad I didn't waste my own hard earned money. I am quite disappointed with the recipes. Granted, I am a picky eater but I cannot find one thing in this book that I might even attempt to make. I don't even know if I can doctor one or two recipes so that it sounds somewhat appetizing. I noticed she uses some less-common ingredients and some, of which, I had never heard. I don't mind if an author suggests an "odd" ingredient, but at least tell me where I might find it. If you are strictly adhering to the Atkins guidelines and phases, most of these recipes are suitable for the lifetime maintenance phase and not much else. Just truly a disappointment.

Summary: Recipies with no carbohydrates
Review: If you can get all the contents then the recipies are very good and pretty easy to make. I tried a number of them for which I was able to get the contents and they turned out to be real good. Another plus point of this book is the inclusion of carbohydrate count which is really important for the carbohydrate watchers.

Since I started this diet, all the cravings for junk food have gone. I used to crave coffee in the morning as well but realized I didn't want that wired up feeling & acid stomach. I switched over to a caffeine-free coffee substitute made from soyabeans I found on the net at www.
S o y c o f f e e.c om. It so easy for someone to tell you to eat less, but if you are craving bad foods, eventually you will fail. In the first five days I was on this diet all the craving ceased and I was already 8 lbs down. If you were like me and cannot wait for your next slice of cake and at the same time really want to change your lifestyle, Try this.
