Summary: Another winner from Sharron Long!!
Review: A great everyday, family-friendly cookbook for the healthy low-carb way of life!! This will be your most-used cookbook, I guarantee!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wow!
Review: A must have cookbook for anyone who has switched to a low carb way of life. The recipes are easy to understand and prepare yet are delicious. I made Sharron's Carne recipe with the pork variation and the taste was incredible. Not to mention the heavenly smell in the house while it slowly cooked for 4 hours. Using pork shoulder cut the cost to less than 50 cents a serving.
I won't even start raving about her dessert creations. I wouldn't be able to stop. Buy this book and you will not be sorry.

Summary: Excellent cookbook
Review: All the recipes in this book are under 10 net carbs per serving, which is helpful for those following this way of eating for weight loss. None of the recipes looks like a loser, and the several I've made so far have been terrific. Best of all, they appeal to non-carb watchers as well, so you can serve everyone the same meal without feeling like you're depriving the non-dieters. My only caveat is that some ingredients may not be available at your corner market, although if you're serious about this lifestyle you'll probably end up developing your own local and mail order sources for stuff like low-carb tortillas and soy protein anyway.

Summary: Very Disappointing--too many short cuts
Review: Although there is a wide range of recipes in the book, I feel it falls short in a couple of areas.
(1) Glaringly--overuse of soy and soy products in order to cut carbs. The result--physically harmful levels of soy in some of these recipes! Surely anyone with a thyroid condition or anyone male should stay as far from most of these recipes as possible. (That much soy won't do anyone any good, but those two groups in particular would do wise to steer clear of the estrogenic content of these recipes).
(2) The author does not have a description of ingredients (and there are some weird ones) in one location like an appendix. Instead there are occasional page notes throughout and one has to fish to find information.
(3) The author does not list alternatives or substitutes for some of the more bizarre ingredients for the benefit of those people might wish to avoid for a host of reasons...like stevia (many can't handle the taste) or soy (which causes gas but can thoroughly disrupt te endocrine system).

My overall take on the recipes in this book is that they are very suited to someone who is simply into counting carbs for the sake of weight loss, but not for the sake of improving overall health through eating whole, nonprocessed foods.

Summary: I reach for this cookbook first!
Review: Down to earth everyday cooking. Ingredients you may not have used before can be found in grocery store, health-food store, or over the internet. Nothing mysterious. All recipes are categorized and listed in the first 5 pages so you can quickly find what you are looking for. Surprise was finding nutritional information per serving and also, if appropriate, the reduced-fat variation. The tips throughout are just an added bonus.

Summary: Wonderful Cookbook!
Review: I began low carbing 6 months ago and I have to say that Sharon's book has made me forget I was "dieting." Wonderful tasting, easy to make recipes that are sure to satisfy even the non-low carber. I never feel like I am missing out on any food, because this book has it all. A wonderful book, fit even for this cooking challenged reader. A++

Summary: Good for the whole family!
Review: I cook for a large family and also entertain quite often. I try to look for recipes that will please everyone, including people who are not on a low carb diet. In this book there are recipes to please all types of eaters, even the pickiest! (and I've never found anyone pickier than my youngest daughter).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Just one of the best books for low-carbers.
Review: I found Sharron's book to be very well written. All the recipes were easy to follow and those used tasted very good. The range of foods give the reader many ideas to create a great from "soup to nuts" for most occasions. The ingredients were not the odd off the wall finds in the most exotic store, but they are found in many grocery stores and health food stores. It is a definite keeper in my collection of Low-Carb cookbooks.

Summary: And I've not even cooked anything in it yet!!!
Review: I give this cookbook 5 stars for a variety of reasons and I've not even cooked one thing in it. I love the variety of recipes in it! I've got a lot of weight to lose and am following the Atkins plan. I was spending a fortune buying "Atkins" products because all of the Atkins recipes called for their products. I understand why, but I didn't want to be stuck with that my whole life! I want to be able to eat 'normal' foods. Especially since I'm trying to get my kids and husband to grasp this lifestyle with me. So, I went out looking for a cookbook and came upon this one. I glanced through it at the store and decided I'd bring it home and check it out. I was AMAZED at how easy so many of the recipes seem and how the ingredients are so readily available at either my grocer or local health food store. I love that there are so many recipes in there for children (which has been my biggest challenge at home - coming up with things that my kids will actually eat)! All of the recipes, every single one, looks fantastic! (Yes, I looked at every single recipe!) So many great ideas like the almond milk for use in a bunch of the recipes. I've never even heard of such a thing! I also like how she has the 'low fat option' at the end of most of the recipes, too. The book is very easy to understand, there are many tips throughout the book, and I can not wait to try the recipes!

Summary: I can't believe I can have this!
Review: I have always loved sweets. It is what usually sabotaged my dieting attempts and my attempts to live a more healthly life. I made the Holiday Carmels from this book and I knew I was hooked. I have used both books by this author and found the information to be very helpful in watching my carbohydrate intake. I feel as if I can throw out all my other cook books with this one and her first one on my shelf!
