Rating: Summary: Great Bread Review: I was diagnosed more than a year ago with terminal heart disease. They had me in the transplant line. After a year on this cookbook's meal planning guide and after eating no bread except what I made from this book and the author's baking book...I'm so much better that I'm off the list. I can't thank this publisher and author enough. The breads are stupendous...really, all of them. And the meals, the snacks, everything is top drawer. Only a dummy could mess up these recipes -- and when it comes making my own meals...I'm a dummy. Highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Doctor Recommended It Review: I wasn't doing well with my low salt diet so my doctor sent me to megaheart.com where I found this book. The website was full of info and I clicked through to here. I bought the book six months ago and it's been a wonderful experience. It's great reading but critically helpful. Following the dietary plan in this book has caused me to improve impressively. Great book. Great Website.
Rating: Summary: Thank God for Don Gazzaniga Review: I'm 27 years old. When doctors diagnosed me with viral dilated cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure in August, I had no hope. While Don's recipes are at least part of the reason I'm recovering now, his inspiration is just as important. While his low-sodium, no-salt recipes have been an absolute necessity, knowing that this disease is conquerable is just as crucial. Buy this book -- it saved my life.
Rating: Summary: Oh, My! A low-sodium cookbook with recipes that taste good! Review: I'm astounded! Quite frankly, I never thought I'd be able to really enjoy the meals I made from my numerous low-sodium or otherwise "healthy" cookbooks. They were either tasteless or had plenty of (awful) flavor. No More!Don Gazzaniga, a heart patient himself, has saved me the frustration I've experienced trying to remake good recipes into healthful ones for my husband with congestive heart failure. I have spent countless hours in the kitchen only to find that my attempt to prepare good food that's good for my husband has failed miserably. Chef Don to the rescue! While my favorite is the Paella, there are a multitude of good-for-you recipes, gourmet and standard fare, from bread (even with bread machine recipes!) to dessert. Well-categorized and indexed, this has beome my favorite cookbook (and I have quite a few) in a very short time. I only wish there were photos, but that's the only thing I'd change. Each recipe includes the sodium counts for both the whole recipe and also Don's suggested serving sizes. He's also included, of course, other nutritional information per serving as well. If you are looking for recipes to help protect your heart health, buy this book. If you already have a form of heart disease, buy this book RIGHT NOW. As for author Don Gazzaniga, I can't thank you enough, and I hope you're writing the next cookbook. You're a Godsend!

Rating: Summary: This is an amazing cookbook! Review: Mr. Gazzaniga has put together an amazing cookbook. Very impressive. If you (friend or family member) has heart problems then I would recommend this book. There's nothing else like it anywhere and the recipes are yummy. It's hard to believe that food this good has no salt.
Rating: Summary: Saved my Life Review: No doubt about it. This book saved my life. Absolutely no doubt about it. I stuck to the plan, somewhat rigidly according to my wife and here I am, back at work. I was headed for a transplant but no more. My hospital recommended this book as the best of the lot. I agree.
Rating: Summary: A Valuable No-Salt Diet Cookbook Review: One of the most difficult diet obstacles is cooking no-salt or low-salt meals. But it can be done, and the dishes can be tasty and delicious. For author Donald A. Gazzaniga, a no-salt diet was literally a matter of life or death. Faced with a heart problem that could necessitate a heart transplant, he was told by his doctors that he had to drastically control the salt in his diet. He did just that and not only has his heart condition improved dramatically to the point he will not need a transplant, he has put his tasty recipes into a book that should be in the library of every cook who is interested in a healthy diet. The hundreds of recipes range from crock-pot stew to ratatouille, from scampi in wine to eggplant relish -- all delicious and with little or no salt. Gazzaniga includes a 28-day menu planning guide which lists each day's salt intake which proves invaluable in keeping a close and accurate eye on salt intake. A definite must-have cookbook.
Rating: Summary: Great Cookbook for Anyone Review: The "No Salt Lowest Sodium" cookbook is full of great recipes that I have been using for my family dinners. We don't suffer from the same aiments Mr. Gazzaniga does, but we try to lead a healthy lifestyle and have read that salt (sodium in particular), can be rather harmful to one's health. Upon coming across Gazzaniga's book, I was intrigued by the information and background provided on the impact of salt and sodium to the body. I have become a believer that even seemingly healthy people need to watch their salt and sodium intake. Since then, Gazzaniga's book has provided numerous tasty recipes. The book is well organized, easy to read and follow, and has a lot of good tasting dishes. Thank you Don Gazzaniga for a great cookbook!
