Summary: It's the "I can't believe this is a diet cookbook!" cookbook
Review: This cookbook has everything to get you through the challenges of adapting a low carb lifestyle. Especially wonderful are the vegetable and side dishes ideas. I never knew there were so many ways to fix eggplant and asparagus. Try the cauliflower trick for potatoes. Some things are a bit complicated to prepare and it takes some effort to get the ingredients together, but once you do it will be worth it.

Summary: I would give this book 10 stars!!! I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Review: The section on items to buy/resources for the low-carb diet are great and have really enhanced my low carb diet and made it easier to stick to. Every recipe I tried so far is great. I serve them for company and am always asked for the recipes! Try the Nut Crusted Swordfish, Fried Chicken, Ricotta Puffs, etc. The couple of negative reviews I read prior to me buying this book now really surprised me because I am thrilled with this book and have given copies to some of my "convert" friends and they also love it. It makes the diet so much easier to stay on with the recipes and helpful tips. If I had to buy jsut one book for a low carb lifestyle this would be the one I would choose. I wonder how I stayed on this diet for months without this cookbook! I am anxiously awaiting another low carb cookbook from Fran McCullough!!!! I would highly recommend this book!

Summary: Low carb dieters, rejoice!
Review: At last. A cookbook which makes low-carb dieters a part of the human race. Fran McCullough has compiled absolutely delicious dishes with wry comments that make you laugh out loud. Great ideas for crispy snacks. My family loved her Mexican chicken soup - and they aren't dieters!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent for those on a high protein, low carb diet.
Review: I found this book to have many good recipes to help those on a high protein/low carbohydrate diet. There are relatively few cook books on this subject which may account for my higher than average rating. Still, Ms. McCullough has been very creative and has included everything from breakfast waffles to elegant desserts. This book will also greatly aid you in creating your own recipes. I highly recommend this book to anyone embarking on this type of diet.

Summary: I have used this cookbook as much as any on my shelf.
Review: This is a fantastic book for anyone just starting down the low-carb path. I found the recipes, for the most part, to be varied and tasty. Some recquired time and effort but the result was great. I also found the author's tips and general information to be extremely valuable. Her discussion of the "vegetable heros" inspired me to try several new spins on old standbys (yes you can have some vegetables on a low-carb regime). In short I found this book to be a gem and have shared it with several friends. The cream of tomato soup is tres fantasique!

Summary: Great Food Ideas for Low Carb Eaters (not Dieters!)
Review: I was leary of some of the previous reviews when I ordered this book - talk about the 'hard to find' ingredients, etc. but after reading each recipe unless you leave in a jungle somewhere, these recipes are easy to follow, contain foods you make everyday for home, etc. but now have been modified for low carb eaters. Try the Rubbed Ribs - my husband hasn't enjoyed many of the low carb creations I have come up with but he loved this one! I can't wait to try some of the soups this winter! A must for any low-carb eater!

Summary: One of only two cookbooks I use! I swear by this book.
Review: Until this book, I was intimidated to make low-carb dishes that called for more than one ingredient. Dr. Atkin's cookbook was not realistic for my budget, tastebuds, or prep time. Fran's book is a blessing. I especially love to make the smothered pork chops in my Pampered Chef mini roaster. The beef stroganoff on cauliflower is most tasty as well. This diet is critical to my health and weight goals; this book is critical to my diet.

Summary: on a budget you can't
Review: The book was not good for us either you can not use this book on a real budget. It has things like deviled eggs with red caviar. I had hoped for a more real people with real children and teens. The book does have a lot of good information on things like cherry tomatoes are one carb each. I found more realistic recipes on the web for free. Sorry I do not usualy give bad reviews but if I went by the things in this book this would be a real diet for our family we could eat only one meal a week.

Summary: A gourmet book for healthy eaters!
Review: I loved this book! Not only are McCullough's recipes delicous -- they are also healthy. I got so many new ideas from each section. (The "fried" chicken recipe is a big hit with family and friends -- I don't tell them its from a "healthy eating" recipe book.) As a fairly good cook (and as someone who has problems with simple carbs), I very much appreciated learning how to cook healthy (healthily?), without giving up taste. McCullough is a real pro, I really enjoyed learning from her expertise. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to eat, and eat well. I cannot praise it enough.

Summary: Questionable Health Advice
Review: Gives a good review of the low-carb, high-protein gurus. However, eating all the protein and fat you want and forcing the body into ketosis is questionable health advice. McCullough leans more toward a Dr. Atkins philosophy, than a Barry Sears (The Zone) balanced protein/carb low, but "good fat" approach. She clearly loves her fat and sweet, calling for "heavy cream" and "aspartame" (Nutrasweet) in many recipes. Nevermind that saturated fat has been shown to raise cholesterol levels (linked to America's #1 killer, heart disease) and Aspartame has been shown to cause cancer in rats (and feed melanoma tumors), you can now use them freely in your cooking if you take the author's advice. Weight-watchers are better off sticking to fruits and vegetables, eating low fat, eliminating sweets, and limiting portions of complex carbs. Perscription for Dietary Wellness by Balch, is a better read.
