Summary: I found the book informative and easy to read.
Review: AS a newcomer to the world of low-carb eating, I found that this book was packed full of nutritional information that I needed in order to begin a new way of eating. The recipes are straight forward and easy to follow. I have tried many of them and found that not only do they fit my eating lifestyle, but also the rest of my family who normally groan at my weight losing plans. It is a great primer for the novice and a good reference book for the long-time low carb diet.

Summary: A Low Carbohydrate Diet Saver!
Review: I have been an Atkins dieter for over two years and have always been frustrated over the lack of resources available for low carbohydrate dieters. Ms. McCullough has taken the boredom and limited variety out of low-carb cooking and made it exciting and great tasting. Her book is just as much a guidebook as it is a cookbook. You will feel as though she is a personal tutor in the study of low-carb cooking. The recipes are fabulous. The cheesecake recipe is delicious and successfully fooled my high-carb eating family. Her recipes are masterful. She has brought a much needed fresh approach to low carb dieting!

Summary: The "Joy of Cooking" for low carb dieters
Review: I love this cookbook! Most of the recipes are easy to prepare and truly delicious. In addition, Ms. McCullough offers a great deal of helpful information to assist readers with making the change to the low carb dieting. Even experienced cooks will benefit from her helpful suggestions with regard to stocking the pantry, low carb cooking techniques, menu suggestions, and sources for purchasing hard-to-find, low carb staples. Thanks to this book, I have finally learned to make the perfect omelette which my choosey husband rated a perfect 10.

The recipes themselves are consistently good. Ms. McCullough, through her extensive knowledge of food and cooking, has even managed to dig up some old favorite recipes that had all but been forgotten in our collective zeal for low fat eating. Thanks to Ms. McCullough, we can once again enjoy these old favorites along with her numerous other creative and delicious recipes. I hope to see a sequel to this book. In the meantime, I will continue to use this one for happily cooking and eating.

Summary: A great cookbook for carbohydrate counting!
Review: I actually have a question about the version being sold here at Amazon.com. The cover says over 100 recipes and this edition is from 5/97. I currently have the book checked out from the library which is also from 5/97, but this cover says over 250 recipes. Other than that they appear identical with the same number of pages. Why the difference?

Summary: This is a "must-have" book for the low-carb dieter!
Review: Frances McCullough not only writes cookbooks but is a low-carb dieter herself. She has done her homework! Not only are the recipes easy and delicious, Ms. McCullough provides pages of information on low-carb eating and the benefits of this healthy lifestyle.

Summary: Wow! We need more lowcarb cookbooks like this one!
Review: I borrowed this book from a family member when starting out on the Atkins diet. What a godsend! It's not meant to be a daily cookbook, but it certainly fills in the gap when you just don't know what to cook and are tired of the same old protein and lowcarb meals. We've used the appetizer recipes for taking to parties. The shrimp with monterey jack cheese and bacon was a hit! The fried cheese also makes a great snack. Can't wait to try the desserts! Thanks Frances!

Summary: What an excellent cookbook!
Review: My husband and I love this cookbook. We have made several of the recipes and enjoyed every one. Our particular favorites are the Fried Chicken, Beef burgoyne and the Italian Meat Loaf. Also, the Chocolate Mousse is outstanding. I think the recipes are laid out well and easy to follow. I would recommend this book to anyone on the Protein Power plan or other low-carbohydrate lifestyle.

Summary: Plea for regional dishes
Review: This book contains many good tips and suggestions, but I am hoping that Ms. McCullough will write another, focusing on southwestern, specifically Tex-Mex, cooking. We don't have access to much fresh seafood here at a reasonable price. Give us some everyday recipes--I'll save this book for special occasions when I want to make a big impression.

Summary: This cookbook isn't bad, I just think buyer's should beware!
Review: I purchased the cookbook along with the Protein Power Plan book. However, I was very dissappointed with the cookbook because to me and my husband the foods were a little unrealistic for a normal, middle-class family of two. Some of the recipes were things like: Israeli Guacamole; Middle Eastern Lamb Salad; Roasted Swordfish with Herbs; Smoked Trout on Watercress, just to name a few. On a limited budget and in an area where fresh seafood is almost impossible to find the cookbook was not very useful. On a positive note however, I must say that you can get some creative ideas from the book!!
