Summary: A Great Companion to Her TV Show on the Food Network!
Review: This is a must have book for all of us wanting to eat right and feel fit.

I began watching Kathleen on the Food Network several months ago, and am hooked! Not only are her recipes quick, easy, and usually with very few ingredients...the best thing of all....they taste GREAT!

In June, I decided it was time to say goodbye to my weight gain over the years, and do something healthy and good for myself. I saw Kathleen's show "Cooking Thin" and learned so much from her. Her "tips" were wonderful...and made great sense. And the recipes she demonstrated on the show were as easy to make in my own kitchen.

The cookbook is a wonderful companion to the Show. And not only is it just as valuable as my "powerwalking Reeboks" on my quest for a new lifestyle change and a new me...it is also just as valuable if you don't have to loose weight. The recipes are nutritious, and complete.

The only drawback, and hopefully this will be corrected when she comes out with her next cookbook...photos of the completed dishes would be a wonderful addition. But the book itself is chocked full of good advice.

So go out and get it for yourself, and do something positive for your life! You'll feel better for it!

Enjoy!

Summary: I love Chef Kathleen!
Review: I bought this cookbook in May after having read a review in a magazine. Since my husband and I are restaurant owners, the fact that Kathleen is really a chef was appealing (Unfortunately, nearly every "secret" she reveals about restaurant kitchens is absolutely true.).
After seemingly no effort - just using this book - we both dropped pounds immediately, and we are both approaching our weight loss goals - a combined 70 pounds. The added bonus is that our kids find the meals tasty, too, and as a result their diet and intake of more nutritional food has improved. I can't say enough good about Chef Kathleen and "Cooking Thin!"

Summary: Love it
Review: I've had this book for about 2 weeks and so far my fiance and I have loved every recipe we have tried. I especially love the sauses and have already started canning things.

Summary: The recipes are wonderful but.......................
Review: I love Kathleen. She offers a satisfying approach to changing a life-style. I was looking forward to her book and the few recipes I tried were wonderful. But I must admit, I felt at a disadvantage by the lack of nutritional information for the recipes. As Kathleen emphasizes, weight loss can happen when you become aware of what you are eating and making healthy choices. But not knowing about even the overall calorie and fat gram counts of recipes made me uneasy. Maybe her next book will provide us with the extra tools that make weight loss possible.

Summary: Where are the pictures??
Review: Great recipes, yum yum, but photographs of the completed dishes would have been a huge added bonus.

Summary: The Smart Approach!
Review: I first saw Kathleen on her television show. I really liked her approach and the advice she gave the individuals she was working with. I decided to check out Amazon and see if she had a cookbook out. She did and I added it to my collection.

The difference is ... I have actually cooked out of Kathleen's book. The recipes are easy and taste fabulous! I love the short cut tips, the morphs and her mom's tips. Each recipe has really valuable comments on the page.

Not only is this a great book of healthy recipes, but Kathleen provides some very motivating and realistic perspective in the first couple sections. At times I even laughed out loud picturing her and her mom together!

I highly recommend this book!

Summary: Good Recipes + Tips to Motivate You to Lose Weight
Review: I first saw Kathleen on one of the morning talk shows and I was inspired by her story. She loved food and not only cooked it professionally but, was almost obsessed with it. She was substantially overweight as a result. When she was hired as spa chef at a posh Hawaiian resort, she rose to the challenge of coming up with delicious, satisfying and healthful food. She ended up losing 80 lbs. and developing a new cuisine which she shares with us in her book.

One of the things I especially like about these recipes is that they consider texture to be as key an element as taste, aroma and calories. A lot of the diets forget that. I think that's why liquid diets don't work. Chewing is one of the most satisfying aspects of eating.

The baked asparagus has become one of my all-time favorites. I make it often and have passed on the recipe to many different folks.

I hope that KD includes nutritional information in her next book so that all those whiners would shut up.

Summary: Marvelous Cookbook!
Review: This cookbook is fast becoming one of the staples in my kitchen! I own over 100 cookbooks, and this one is great. I like the way Kathleen presents each recipe, with ideas to 'Morph' or make ahead. Her time saving tips are terrific, especially for those who think that cooking and planning are just too much work. With these recipes, you can still enjoy delicious meals and NOT stuff your body with unnecessary calories. Watching her show on weekends (Food TV) is a great addition to this book, so anyone who is serious about what goes into their bodies will benefit from her cookbook.

Summary: Easy and delicious
Review: I'd recommend this book on the basis of the asparagus recipe alone - it's fast, easy and fabulous. I've tried 12 of the veggie and entree recipes so far, and every one is a keeper.

I could do without the pep-talk in the first third of the book, but I understand that's part of the author's persona. I pretty much ignored the comments from her mom and dad or whoever throughout, although I thought the "Queen's coming to Dinner" suggestions for making the recipes more elegant for company were helpful. To be honest, the only time the portion/nutrition info even occured to me was when I made the granola and wondered what an "individual portion" was. How wrong can I go with asparagus and a tablespoon of olive oil, or carmelized onions in a (small) sweet potato instead of loads of butter? I wanted some new and yummy ways to prepare healthy meals for my family and for that purpose this book delivered.

Summary: Throw out the rest of your "diet" cookbooks!
Review: We have been cooking out of this book for about a week now. My wife has discarded all the other diet cookbooks we have. This is not a nutrition textbook. The recipies are created so that you can enjoy them. The dishes rival restaurant meals!

Remember, weight control is a lifestyle. When you load yourself down with all the trivia of calories and structure, all the enjoyment goes out of cooking and eating. Starting out with the attitude that this is a diet will more than likely result in something less than your goal to enjoy a healthy weight.

Congratulations to Kathy for a fine work.
