Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Yes, another weight loss cookbook....a GOOD one! Review: Kathleen, you rock. Every recipe we have tried is a winner. I particularly like your veggie ones. The ingredient list is usually short and prep time is reasonable. I wish the book had more pictures. Drop the guy-meter thing as it is annoying to male readers, at least to this male reader.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fantastic Vegetable Recipes--and More Review: I knew if only I could eat more vegetables I'd be healthier--probably thinner, too. But what do you do to make green beans interesting? What on earth do you do with fennel? This book has the best vegetable recipes I've ever tasted: green beans with lemon and parmesan; broiled fennel; baked asparagus; napa cabbage slaw; roasted beets with balsamic vinegar, to name a few. If you come home from the farmer's market or grocery store with a bag full of "interesting" produce and no clear idea how you will cook it, this book is for you. Every recipe I've tried is smashing (homemade granola, apple streusel muffins, herbed ricotta cheese spread), high on flavor, quick, and good for you. Yes, you do have to practice moderation with some of the recipes (like polenta with blue cheese...) but that's what most of us who need to loose weight need to work on anyway!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Overpromises and underdelivers Review: This should have been called Living Thin if You've Got Good Eyes. The book is half about her story and philosophy and only half recipes. Reading the white-on-orange text of the various hints and comments is extremely difficult. MANY of the recipes have comments like "Not something you'd want to eat much of" or "You can take just a sliver." Why put in recipes that are fattening when this is a weight loss book? The numerous tips on how to make something a bit fancier ("if the Queen is coming to visit" is cute, but quickly gets tiresome) are useful but printed in a way that makes them difficult to read. The design sucks; the recipes aren't particularly great and the ratio of recipes to lifestory is very low. I applaud her success, but next time she should sell her story as a story, not as a recipe book. You might want to buy this book, just don't expect much.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Watch the show... don't buy the book Review: I bought the book because I thought it would be like her show as she guides, coaches, teaches people how to lower fat in their cooking. The book does NOT do this. There are several pages in the beginning that are confusing in their tone and advise. She adds to the stereotype that women can't "get" math. I also bought the book to hear from her -- NOT from her mother! Who is her mother anyway? Why does every cookbook have a recipie for stock? Who has time to make stock -- THOSE PEOPLE WHO ALREADY KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT! Disappointing and I wish I could return it...
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: No Nutritional Information! Review: The text is witty, the recipes look wonderful, but there is absolutely NO nutritional information in the book! There is a full-fat cheesecake recipe in this book. Kathleen's recommendation? Make in a small pan and eat a small slice. For most of us interested in nutrition, this is just not enough. I will have to use software to calulate every recipe in this book before I cook it to see if it will fit in my plan. Really bad decision...I have to give this a NO recommendation.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Chef Kathleen Rocks! Review: I first encountered Chef Kathleen's delicious culinary abilities in Shape magazine, and rushed to buy her book. I love the healthy recipes, most of which emphasize a fresh, simple approach to cooking wonderfully tasty food. I was slightly bummed that there weren't pictures (I'm a visual person), but if it meant more room for recipes, I adjusted. For those who can't eat a meal unless they know how many calories it contains--you will probably complain that this book doesn't contain caloric information, so go ahead and go back to your prepackaged 101.5-calorie Weight Watchers meals or whatever. Those of us who innately know good healthy cooking will be eating well with Chef Kathleen!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This Book is Brilliant Regaurdless of Other Reviews Review: Kathleen Daelemans has done a wonderful job wriiting this book that has a wealth of information. I have made a few recipes and they were mouthwatering and low cal. There isn't a nutritional breakdown, but it's alright because everything you take in is healthy. It gives you serving sizes, and they are very good portions. We all know that the key to weight lose is portion control. All the information is great and you can feel Kathleen's upbeat personality. I have read the reviews and comments and I believe that they are unjust, and obviously from someone who has zero knowledge of food. Anyhow this book was great for me, the tastes are awsome. All and all this book was a excellent buy.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A great find!! Review: The recipes in this book are excellent, easy to prepare, not to mention nutritious...this could just as easily been a book about "cooking dinner in 20 minutes", or "cooking for dummies" as it is a wonderful spa cuisine resource.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Also disappointed Review: I really enjoy watching her show on the Food Network, but like the first reviewer stated, I was disappointed in the lack of nutritional information. And so many of her recipes, while delicious, are not all that healthy and low-calorie! This would be a great book for someone who is new to dieting, because it's certainly healthier than most of us eat. But other than "cutting back" and "deciding to do it" there isn't much information about how the author lost her weight or information about how her recipes will help the reader lose weight.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Simply The Best !!! Review: I Love this cookbook!!! Despite the fact that there are no pictures,or nutritional information.......This cookbook stands apart from the rest!!
