Summary: The Best Books in Helping Control IBS
Review: I just want to thank Heather so much, the vast amount of information she has provided through her website and books have been greatly appreciated in helping me control my IBS. If only my doctor was just as knowledgeable as Heather. I highly recommend anyone suffering from IBS read her books.

Summary: Invaluable Resource for IBS sufferers
Review: I was diagnosed with IBS back in July 2002 by my doctor. He prescribed a common anti-spasmotic drug and sent me home with no hope of ever recuperating from this disorder. He never suggested changing my eating habits he just told me that I should "try and reduce the stress in my life." I have 4 children. Please!

Fortunately for me, I discovered Heather Van Vorous' book. After 4 weeks of following her many years of experience and advice I am truly on my way to recovering from this disorder and am living a normal healthy life again. The book is full of wonderful recipes but of far more importance in my opinion, is the author's directions for stabalizing your GI tract. This is the key to resuming a fully functioning lifestyle. And best of all, without sacrificing flavor or favorite dishes! She has obviously spent countless hours in the kitchen exploring alternative methods for cooking some common as well as ethnic dishes that would normally trigger an IBS attack. I can enjoy food again and not fear having an attack. Thank you a million times over Heather for your work!
Incidentally, I recently returned to my doctor for a check-up and he was surprised to hear of my success. I told him about my new diet and he couldn't believe it. I intend on sending him some information on this book.

Summary: Life changing!
Review: I ran across this book in 2000. I was suffering greatly with IBS symptoms. I knew that it was Irritable Bowel Syndrome and that's about it.

After reading this information I did myself what would turn out to be the 3 biggest favours of my life. I cut out red meat, carbonated beverages and greatly reduced my intake of whole wheat products.

I am delighted to be able to tell you that I have been relatively symptom free for the last 10 months!! My doctor is amazed.

I went to Ireland last month for 3 weeks and did not once have to excuse myself in mid-meal, try to find a secluded washroom or fake a headache to avoid going out for an evening because the real problem was one I was not willing to discuss. It has been a true life changer for me! Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who suffers from the agony of IBS. Just a few small changes and I have my life back!

Review: This book was a life saver for me at a time when the Dr.'s were at a loss. The recipes are clear to follow and the ingredients are easy to get. Anyone who's needing to get their stomach back in control would appreciate this book.

Summary: Delightful and Delicious
Review: I was diagnosed with IBS about 2 years ago. I would go months with constant pain. I finally went to a dietician and purchased Heather's Book. The recipies are absolutely delightful!! I have not found one recipe I didn't love!! I bought all the subsitute products, recommended by the dietician, and found them totally disgusting when I ate them alone. But after I found Heather's book, and put the ingredients in the recipes they were transformed into gourmet foods. I was really having a problem sticking to the diet until I found Heather's Book. And, sticking to the IBS diet can make or break how you feel. I'm always sharing the foods with my neighbors and they can't believe they are low fat and really GOOD for you.

This book has helped me so much!! I am so very grateful I happened to find Heather's book. To me it means I can eat tasty foods again and feel better. Before I would fudge on my diet because the foods I could eat were horrible, and pay with so much pain. I recommend this book to anyone suffering with IBS, and to anyone who just wants some GREAT HEALHTY meals!!

Summary: Eating for IBS by Heather Van Vorous
Review: I love to cook, but really had to stop making many recipes from the cookbooks I had. The recipes in Eating For IBS are interesting, varied and pretty easy to make. I have used and enjoyed this book and referred friends to it. I found out about this book on my own, but I wish more MD's referred their patient's to this book. Thanks to Heather's' advice I feel better, and can make better eating choices. I am even off of medication for my IBS symptoms now.

Summary: Not IBS
Review: I don't have IBS but bought the book because I do have a fuzzy tummy. If I eat " crappy" food I will get gas, bloating and discomfort. While looking through a friend's copy of the book I noticed that the quick breads were not unlike the low fat ones I already bake. Always on the look out for good bread that can be baked at home I decided to get a copy of the book. So far I have only made the bread on page 110 ( chocolate apple sauce).
Want to know how it turned out? Well, I hide the bread in the vegetable bin under the kale so my husband won't find it.

Summary: A lifesaving Book
Review: Dear Heather,

I wanted to write and tell you what a wonderful effect your books and advice have had on my life.

As a sufferer of IBS with severe gas, bloating, constipation and nausea I was in the depths of despair when I stumbled onto your website. My life had gone from being an absolute joy with a husband and baby I adored to an absolute misery of an existence filled with pain and depression. I was unable to eat out, holiday, work, take care of my family or visit my friends.

I had been to countless Doctors and Specialists who performed many tests and found "nothing". The nothing was IBS and it certainly didn't feel like nothing to me.

When I first started reading the information on your website it really made sense although I was so depressed I didn't believe it would work as I had tried so many things. Still I started following your dietary advice, exercised each day and began taking Yoga lessons. At first I didn't notice a huge difference but gradually I realised that things were improving day by day.

You can imagine my joy with this discovery. So far nothing had helped and finally I had found something that did and also a sympathetic ear from someone who really understood my pain.

I couldn't believe it when I emailed you and heard back virtually straight away. Your advice was so helpful and it made me feel fantastic to talk to someone who really understood. As supportive as my family and friends are it is still nice to talk to someone who had experienced the same pain and despair as you.

Thanks to you and your wonderful books those days of despair are very rare now and I have a much better life now. My family is also enjoying your recipes so much!
