Summary: Something for everyone
Review: This is one comprehensive cookbook. Featured are 1,000 recipes within chapters such as appetizers/beverages, breads, desserts, fish/shellfish, grains/pastas, meatless main dishes, meats, poultry, salads/dressings, sandwiches, sauces/condiments, soups/salads and veg. side dishes.

In true "Cooking Light" fashion, there are complete nutritional breakdowns, serving size recommendations and prep times for each recipe. The additional handy chapters, which describe essential kitchen tools, pantry must-haves, and food substitutes help arm you with the knowledge you need to make healthy eating a lifestyle.

But best of all, there are many full-color photos throughtout the book which give inspiration to those of us who are visually-oriented. Most ingredients can be found in any supermarket and most recipes can be completed within 30-45 minutes (according to the prep and cooking times given).

The only qualm I have is that some of the recipes are repeats from previous Cooking Light cookbooks, and the number of desserts featured. There are too many for my taste, but for those of you who do make desserts often, you'll have plenty to choose from!

All in all, a worthy addition to your cooking library.

Summary: A Necessity for Every Kitchen
Review: This is one of my absolute favorite cookbooks. The recipes are interesting but not overly complicated. Most of them do not require hard-to-find ingredients, yet they truly maximize flavor. There is also a great deal of variety, from the appetizers to the desserts, so that you will find the perfect foods to prepare, no matter the occasion. Note to vegetarians: The book also contains many creative and flavorful meatless dishes.

Despite all of these other attributes, however, TASTE is the #1 reason to buy this cookbook. Everything I have tried has been delicious. The fact that all of the recipes are healthy is just the low-fat icing on the cake, so to speak. In addition, it contains attractive photographs of many of the recipes (a "must" for me in any cookbook) and also includes many helpful procedural tips and photographs for those of us who aren't experts.

For those who assume that lower in fat always means lower in taste, this is the cookbook that will finally convince you otherwise. And for those who consistently try to eat healthy, this cookbook will make it a pleasure to do so.

By the way, if anyone is debating between this book and Cooking Light Five Star Recipes, I would definitely recommend this one. The other book is also good, but this one simply has many more recipes and, hence, more variety. Buy this book -- it will NOT end up collecting dust on your bookshelf like so many others!

Summary: The Best Cookbook
Review: This is the best cookbook that I have found. I've recently graduated college and have just started branching out from grilled cheese and tuna melts. I have found this cookbook to be extremely helpful in finding meals that will not only taste good but are light as well. There are receipes for special occasions as well as weekday nights. This is definitely my most used cookbook.

Summary: GREAT RECIPES ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIKE DESSERTS!
Review: What I like about this cookbook is the variety of recipes. With over 1000 recipes in total there is something here to please almost everyone. The recipes do not take a great deal of time to prepare and the ingredients are easily found at your local supermarket. The highlight of the recipes is the low fat content. My personal favourite is the broiled Australian lobster tails.

What did not appeal to me about the book is the fact almost half the recipes seemed to be desserts and personally, I am not a dessert eater in the first place. If you have a sweet tooth, you might buy the book for the dessert recipes alone; however, I would have preferred to see more entrees and fewer desserts.

Overall, the recipes I tried turned out well and the directions are easy to follow. This book is great for those who do not have the time to slave away in the kitchen for hours on end; some of the recipes are quite unique.
