Rating: Summary: Great food! Review: This book is fantastic. The book took the top 1000 or so recipes from the past 10 years of the magazine and every recipe I've tried is delicious! There are tons of pictures, so for an inexperienced chef like myself, the recipes are made even easier. The ingredients are simple, but the flavors complex. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Beautiful!! Review: This book is very well put together, with great recipes and beautiful pictures. I even wrote to Cooking Light to congratulate them on the book. A very comprehensive book with everything from beverages to condiments and everything in between. Highly recommend the banana pudding.
Rating: Summary: Simple, Delicious Recipes and Great Illustrations Review: This cookbook has become my standby. The recipes are surprisingly tasty, given the low fat content in most of them. With the exception of the roasted garlic potatoes, which do not cook in the time specified in the recipe and in fact did not turn out well at all, all the recipes I have tried from this book have turned out to be both scrumptious and impressively presented. I have particularly enjoyed the broiled Australian lobster tails, the Barbecued Oriental Flank Steak, and the Carribbean Style Rice and Beans. I agree that there is a heavy slant toward desserts, with more than half the book being devoted to such recipes; however, the remaining recipes consist of everyday items you could easily whip up for dinner in a very short time. Many of the recipes are accompanied by very helpful step-by-step illustrations. There are also inset boxes that give you tips on what to look for when purchasing a particular item, or how to cut an ingredient a certain way. In that respect, this book is both an instructional manual and a cookbook. I subscribe to the magazine and have found this book to be a nice extension of the magazine and its contents.
Rating: Summary: A+ cookbook... Review: This cookbook is excellent. Actually, I decided to stop my Cooking Light subscription because this was such a good book. Now I just buy this cookbook at the end of every year, and I have a concise collection of the recipes in one resource. Not only does this book contain all of the recipes that occurred in the appropriate calendar year, but it keeps the recipes in the right season which makes it easy to find ingredients.I have purchased this book more than once as gifts for friends and family. Great book, highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Lots of variety and REALLY yummy Review: This cookbook is my favorite. There are lots of recipes that are really easy and really tasty - the pot stickers are awesome. I like that I don't have to skim through the book to find something relatively healthy - they all are, but you would never know it once you tasted the recipes! I highly reccomend for anyone.
Rating: Summary: Lowfat...Maximum Flavor...Tastebud Sensation Review: This cookbook is not just meat and potatoes. It's herbs, spices and vegetables galore. It has incredible appeal for vegetarians and die hard meat eaters. I have never owned a cookbook like this. My husband recently lost 25 lbs. on the Dr. Phil plan. I will not say diet, as we have attained a new lifestyle of eating. I had a hard time converting favorite recipes into lowfat consciencious meals. Magically, I was turned on to this cookbook and I haven't stepped out of the kitchen since. My family looks forward to meals with eager anticipation of my cuilinary triumphs. I, in turn, can't wait to create. I sit with this book in my lap every evening and begin meal planning for the next day. For those of you who love to entertain, your guests will go crazy when you tell them they're eating from Cooking Light. Every morsel from appetizers to dessert will have them salivating. We had company last night that started with Tex-Mex Bean Dip, followed by Multi-Grain Vegetable Burrito with Tomatoe Basil Salad. Dessert topped it off with Maple Carmel Flan. My girlfriend went home and ordered this cookbook. I have been a gourmet cook for years, and I can't sing praises loud enough. This book will teach you about portion sizes, calorie intake, as well as the breakdown of fiber, sugar, and carbohydrates. Cut out the old supersizing and bring in the flavor.

Rating: Summary: My favorite cookbook of cookbooks Review: This is a great resource for the health conscious cook who doesn't want to sacrifice flavor and style. I use this cookbook more than any other in my collection of over 100 books so that must mean something. I love this cookbook.
Rating: Summary: Must Have! Review: This is my favorite cookbook. When my sister told me she wanted a cookbook for Christmas, I knew I had to get her a copy.
Rating: Summary: I'd Rate this a strong 4 and 1/2 Star Cookbook Review: This is not quite the best all-around one-volume cookbook that I have in my collection. For that honor, I don't think you can beat the New Basics Cookbook. However, this one is very good at what it does: gives basics of techniques and all with the view of healthy, low-fat cooking with a sophisticated, rich gourmet type result. Others have more variety and even categories, but this one has lots of creative, well-done dishes which one would do well to pursue before moving on to other specialty cookbooks, and there are some in here that are rare, wonderful finds, e.g. Curried Lamb and Lentil Stew, Chicken Enchilada Casserole, Eggs Sardou,Orzo and Portobello Casserole, and my favorite: Brown Sugar Bread Pudding with Creme Anglaise. This is well worth the money and time cooking from.
