Rating: Summary: Great Cookbook Review: I have subscribed to Cooking Light since 1992, but my collection of magazines was overwhelming me. I could no longer locate my favorite recipies without an extensive search. I received this book as a gift and have loved using it. It contains almost all my favorite recipies and many more that I overlooked. I often use this book for company dinners and no one suspects that the recipies are "light" unless I tell them. The book is well organized and easy to use. I cook frequently and this is now my favorite cookbook.
Rating: Summary: Just got the book Review: I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but I've looked through the book and they all sound good and easy to make. However, for a book that costs 35 bucks, I was a little disappointed to find that there were very few pictures of the recipes. Not that it takes away recipe quality, but I'm one of those cooks that likes to see what I'm about to create.
I expected more pictures for a book that costs as much as it does.
Rating: Summary: Absolute Necessity! Review: I love this cookbook! Everything I have made has been wonderful! I was even able to feed my picky 9-yr-old nephew Chicken Florentine Lasagna (spinach!). I love that I can make a recipe out of this book, that I have never tried before, for company, with confidence it will be great. A definite must-have!!
Rating: Summary: Not as good as I hoped Review: I read a few of the reviews, and people claimed the photo's were great! Well, there weren't that many - so I don't see why they'd even mention the photo's. I'm the type of person who looks for cookbooks full of photo's, to see how the food should look by the end. Not only that, I just prefer to search for a recipe by the photo, rather the read each recipe. Anyway, the recipe's looked ok, but if you're like me, and like a cook book chock full of photo's and wonderful recipes, then this isn't the book for you.
Rating: Summary: The best cook book ever printed Review: I received this as a christmas gift. And let me tell you, not one recipie has failed me yet, from desserts to meats... it's just great. The only alterations I make are in the desert sections, most recipies only call for white flour- I often find myself substituting with half whole wheat flour. And the recipies still rock. I have gotten many great responses to almost all I have made.
It's very difficult to find good low fat recipies, and often I used to find myself experimenting with on-line recipies, and most of the time what turned out was barely edible, not the case here...
go get this book. If you like to cook lite, and eat right... this is the one for you...
Rating: Summary: The Best Cookbook in my Kitchen Review: I'm a college student who bought this book eight months ago when I decided to lay off the fast food and get healthy. I've done a lot of cooking for special occasions and such but had never cooked on a daily basis. The recipes in this book are very easy to follow with step-by-step illustrations for the harder stuff. The book includes all of the nutrition facts you could want for every recipe from saturated fat to the amount of fiber in each serving. There are also estimated prep times and cook times which are wonderful when you are flipping through to find a quick recipe on those busy days. There is also a very helpful substitution list in the back of the book. I can't count how many recipes I've tried, but every one of them has been delicious...even my boyfriend loves them. Since January I have learned to cook all kinds of wonderful, low calorie foods and have lost 20 pounds in the process. This is one cookbook I will always hang on to.
Rating: Summary: Great healthy recipes that don't taste like "diet food" Review: If you think eating healthy means no flavor, check out this book. The recipes I have tried have been excellent, with lots of whole food ingredients (unlike a lot of low-cal cookbooks that use a lot of prepackaged low-fat chemical-laden yuck). They show that you can eat fresh and healthy and still taste fabulous. There is a wonderful range of recipes from salads to meats to soups and desserts. Just a great cookbook, whether or not you want to lose weight.

This new cookbook really should have a picture up, the cake on the cover and the lavender color in the background will invite you to open this book. Rating: Summary: A must have cookbook Review: Of all the cookbooks I own, this is the one that I would recommend to someone looking for a new cookbook. This book has many photos (at least one every other page) and every recipe has prep time, total time and the nutritional analysis. Throughout the book there are step-by-step how to techniques with pictures. The book starts with a daily nutrition guide and kitchen basics including essential kitchen tools, pantry items and herbs (with pictures). At the end of the book there is a glossary of terms followed by metric equivalents and a substitution list. Buy this one. You'll be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK -- TOO MANY DESSERTS Review: This book has some really wonderful recipes for those looking to maintain a low fat yet satisfying diet... my only gripe is that there are way too many dessert recipes... I know this may not sound like it should be a big deal... but I'd rather have more meals and less desserts...
