Rating: Summary: The Best CookBook I every bought Review: I've gotten more use out of this cookbook than any other. Every recipe has been a hit with my family (no misses), and we are all eating much healthier. This book makes it so much easier to follow the WW program because now I look forward to dinner time and cooking. While most cookbooks are loaded with dishes that are too extravagant for everyday, this book is full of "normal" meals that I never new how to make - or how to make well.
Rating: Summary: Good ideas, but a few shortcomings. Review: As a "Weight Watcher" myself, I was particularly interested in this cookbook. Indeed, it does have Weight Watchers' unique POINTS values for each entry. And there are dozens of great ideas to choose from. Unfortunately, there are three shortcomings. First, as another review here pointed out, while the cookbook identifies number of servings, it fails to provide the size of a serving. If I'm cutting-up a baked good, that's one thing. But for a whole pot-full of soup, it means measuring out the whole batch to determine the size of a serving -- very tedious. Secondly, the recipes are composed of less-common ingredient choices, most of which are based on partial portions. A half-can of this, a sprig of that, when it's unlikely you'd use the rest of the can or bunch in something else. This leads to a great deal of ingredient waste. Why not stick to common items that could be leveraged better in routine, daily cooking, or in other recipes? And finally, there's still too much fat in many of these recipes. Some would be better off with zero added fat, while others don't need anywhere near the amount they suggest to turn-out perfectly well. Why add needless additional calories, raising the POINTS value? Why add two tablespoons of margarine when one teaspoon (or none at all) is adequate? This seems odd. But as a basis to stimulate ideas, this cookbook does work -- more or less.
Rating: Summary: This is a good one Review: I am a foodie, or an foodie wannabee who has some pounds to lose. Not surprisingly, since there's been a major trend in healthy eating over time, now some even so-called "gourmet" cookbooks are trying to incorporate low-fat things like egg substitutes and evaporated milk into their recipes to make them healthier, or to have less fat. Luckily, Weight Watchers and the people who publish "Cooking Light" (both owned by same company I think)create truly wonderful recipes which will enable you to stay on a diet and eat well at the same time. The food brains behind these recipes create big flavors from spices, herbs, condiments and pungent additions like exotic mushrooms, chilies, anchovies, capers, olives, etc. instead of from fat. There is something for everyone in this book. Sometimes you'll make something and go "something's missing" (yeah! the fat!) still there are plenty of keepers here like Roast Zucchini Provencal and the most incredible roast whole chicken w/gravy I've ever had in my life. I have several weight watchers books and don't doubt for a minute that these people are absolute culinary pros who know exactly what they're doing. You won't find classical french cuisine here, but if you need to cut down and eat healthier, this is a great place to start.
Rating: Summary: Need to specify a serving size Review: WW has great recipes but they've done my pet peeve again! It is so annoying to look at, for instance, the soup you just made and be forced to either guess at 1/8 or measure the whole batch of soup and then extract an 1/8. Why not: Serving size 1 1/2 cup?
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Cookbook Review: This book is the one I use over and over again, I've made so many recipes from it. These recipes do not taste like "diet" food. Although they are low in fat, calories, and food points, they really taste good too. Some favorites I make regularly from this book are the Parmesan-Turkey Meatloaf, Shrimp Creole, Tuna-Noodle Casserole, Chicken Avgolemono Soup, Indian Carrot Soup, Hummus, and our absolute favorite - the Chicken Quesadillas with Corn-Tomato Salad. I brought the Rolled Orange Sponge Cake to a family gathering and everyone devoured it - no one would have guessed it only had 2 grams of fat per serving.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a great all-around sourcebook for all kinds of healthy low-fat recipes that taste great and fit into a Weight Watchers plan or even anyone who is just looking for good, nutritious meals. The book is well laid out and has an excellent variety of reliable recipes. It's easy to read and browse through, has an adequate amount of photos, and contains all the nutrition information and points for each recipe.

I already started applying these principles with my own well-being by giving up my coffee habit. I realized having that wired up feeling all day clouded my concentration. Did you you know one cup of joe raises your blood pressure by 14%! Fortunately for me I was able to find a wonderful tasting replacement made from soybeans. You brew like coffee and it even helps lower my cholesterol. I found it online at www. So ycoffee.c o m. Gaining this understanding will effect every move you make from this point on and will bring with it the necessity to share it... THIS BOOK I RECOMENDED!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Cookbook, Nice Variety, Easy, Great Info & Photos Review: I was very pleased with this book, lots of recipies, TONS of different ideas. I compared their recipies to others in different cookbooks and the fat and calories were significantly pared down. I real good book that gives you different options to stay on track with Weight Watchers! If you are not following Weight Watchers this is still a good book if you are looking for great recipies that are filling and low in fat.
