Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I purchased this cookbook a little over a year ago, and just recently started using it. Much to my disappointment, the dozen or so recipes I've tried so far have had little to no flavor (with the exception of a Pumpkin Cheesecake..which tasted nothing like cheesecake but hit the spot). Even more poor husband has asked that I stop making recipes from the book. The other down side is that a lot of the recipes require special trips to the grocery store, and requires planning ahead. I'm sure there are some great WW recipes out there, but I'm afraid to try them. I'll be sticking with non-WW healthy eating cook books that let me calculate the points based on their nutritional info.
Rating: Summary: Tasty and healthy, go together. Review: As child,I so hated being told "You are eating a healthy meal tonight." Into my mind would pop memories and awful tasting or bland foods. Thankfully I now only have those memories. Healthy and tasty now go together so well. I have yet to make any of the recipes in the book, I only recieved 1 day ago, but having flipped through, which is why I give it 3 stars. I think my daughter will even happily eat what I put on her plate. I do not follow the Weight Watchers plan, I am only looking for different ways to prepare the the things I love.
Rating: Summary: Losin' Weight and Lovin' It Review: I've only had this cookbook for two weeks, but it has already totally re-shaped the way I cook. I don't have time to go to meetings and don't have the money to join Weight Watchers, but I DO count my points. Before this cookbook came along, I was hard-pressed to stay under 30 points per day, and my food was sooooo boring! I can easily stay under 22 points per day with this cookbook, and there's sooo much variety! I just sit down on Saturday and plan out my next week's menus, then pick everything up at the grocery store on Sunday morning. For a busy person like me, that works best, but if you're not quite as busy, you can probably plan your meals on a day-to-day basis. What's even better is that my fiance likes the meals, too...and he's not even trying to lose weight. About 3 1/2 pounds have come off in less than two weeks and my favorite pair of pants is so loose that I was stepping on my own pantlegs the other day. Great cookbook for those wanting to lose weight. Only one word of warning: If you don't like to cook, or if you're wanting "simple" recipes, this is not the cookbook for you. I personally think the recipes are relatively simple, but I love to cook and have a ton of kitchen tools to make the dicing, slicing, chopping, and mincing a lot easier. I can see how someone who's not familiar with a kitchen would just throw this book on the pile with their other unused cookbooks; there's a lot of kitchen and food prep work in the recipes I've tried so far, so kitchen-phobes should stay away.
Rating: Summary: nice......... Review: great book, good instructions and good ideas how sabstitute stuff to maintain low-calory diet, Diet but TASTY
Rating: Summary: Yum Yum! Review: I bought this book when I started WW. It is so easy to follow and the pictures of the foods make my mouth water. The book is in categories such as: Pork, Fish, Pasta, Meat, Vegetarian, and Poultry. This makes it a snap to plan a menu for the week. For example, I say that I want a chicken dish and then go through the pages in that category. The only problem is that I want to make all the recipes. The recipes all come out well. My family loves them including, my 5 1/2 yr. old son and my 3 yr. old daughter who are very picky eaters. The ingredients are easy to find and many of them are in the house already. I found it interesting to find many recipes that were vegetarian and were not just beans or tofu. It makes yummy meals that are nutritious, colorful, tasty, filling, enjoyable for the whole family, and includes serving sizes, and nutritional content. I recommend this book for WW members who are looking for new recipes that do not taste like cardboard or lack color. I have read different recipe books for dieters and yuck. Half the recipes were so time consuming and required exotic ingredients that I had to order them. My family did not like any of the recipes. However, the WW books are the exact opposite! I use the cookbook nearly everyday. It is great to use for party ideas, buffets, breakfast, lunch, and dinners. I have entertained with some of these dishes. My guests thought they were made with the high fat and calories that I substituted low fat and low calories. This means that it truly is great! Go get this book today. Even if you are not a WW member it really helps to keep you eating smart and losing wt.
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: I have really enjoyed this book. There is a lot of variety and it's nice to feel like your eating something that is good for you and tastes good too. The nutritional information for each recipe is also very helpful if your counting calories.
Rating: Summary: Yummy recipes make you forget you're on a diet. Review: This book is one of the greatest cook books. First, it offers a comprehensive overview of the Weight Watchers philosophy outlining the POINTS system and the basics of nutrition. After the intro, you get a whole lot of good recipes ranging from those suitable for a single person to eating for a while family. It is organized by meat type (no fears, it does have a vegetarian section) and has a handy index of recipes. Each recipe is broken down to show you how many points are contained in the servings. For all recipes, each takes up at most one page, so you don't have to flip through pages mid-cooking. The book is spiral bound (comb bound for the cheaper version), which makes it very easy to use in the kitchen.
One of the nice things about this book is that it stresses the importance of using herbs and spices in your food, making the food pretty interesting and appetizing. Most recipes are concocted from easily found items that are not usually expensive, thus allowing you to lose weight (or just watch it) while saving money and becoming healthier.
Highly recommended for the good amount of recipes, ease of use, and financial consideration for the chef.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful cookbook for any collection Review: My husband and I have really enjoy everything we have tried for this cookbook. The recipes are flavorful and easy to prepare. Our Favorite is the Chicken and Asparagus Stir-fry on page 106. We have it at least once a week. I love the Asparagus and he likes the chicken so I make more asparagus than the recipe calls for and the same amount of chicken. I eat most of the asparagus and he eats most of the chicken that way we are both happy. Having lived in Japan for a few years I fell in love with Corn Chowder and have been searching for a good recipe. This book has one that tastes just like the cans from the vending machines in Japan. It is easy to prepare it only takes about 30 minutes and it calls for only a few non-staples. Great book I recomend it to all cooks. Weither you cook often or not a lot.
Rating: Summary: The best WW cookbook I have! Review: This is a great cookbook! The recipes are easy, and delicious! I am not a gourmet cook. What I am is a working Mom who wants recipes without exotic ingredients, that my 10 year old will eat, and that won't use my entire allotment of points for the day! This book provides those recipes for me. I have used this one over and over while my other WW cookbooks sit on my shelf.
Rating: Summary: Excellent cookbook Review: I am not a cook at all and seldom make anything from a cookbook. But, I have to say I love this cookbook. I rejoined WW last week and made 2 recipes the first weekend. The receipes called for ingredients I had in my house. The serving was enough and it was delicous
