Summary: Best "diet" food I've ever tasted!!
Review: I thought that the Weight Watchers website had incredible recipes until I got this cookbook. I have marked over 1/2 of the recipes as something I would like to try. In the past 3 weeks since I received this cookbook, I've tried over 10 recipes and have loved them all. The best thing is that the cookbook has "real food" that the whole family can enjoy. Bonus - the recipes are easy to prepare. I recommend this book for anybody who either wants to lose weight or eat more healthy!

Summary: It's Foodelicious!
Review: This is another great cookbook from Weight Watchers. One measure of its success is that non-dieting friends for whom I've prepared some of the dishes always ask me for the recipes. The Roast Pork Puertoricano (pork tenderloin marinated in orange, garlic, cumin, and jalepeno then roasted to perfection) and Dolmades (vegetarian, but easily convertable to carnivore) alone are worth the price of admission. As with other WW cookbooks, the lack of portion size is inconvenient. But the pros far overshadow the cons: tasty, easy, and fast recipes the whole family will enjoy; WW 1-2-3 Points and nutritional information; good mix of vegetarian and nonvegetarian recipes; ingredients call for realistic and easily purchased food; complete instructions so novice cooks aren't scared off. The recipes in this book take some of the sting out of watching one's weight. For that, it's a bargain at twice the price.

Summary: EXCELLENT COLLECTION OF TASTY DO-ABLE MEALS
Review: I love this cookbook. I have lots of them, and this is one of my very favorites. I made the WW Stuffed Turkey breast for Thanksgiving this past year...everyone loved it. And my family usually turns their noses up at anything lowfat or good for you. But that is what is so great about this book...you would never know some of these recipes are diet..no sacrificing taste here.

Summary: EASY AS 1.2.3 AND A GOURMET'S DELIGHT!
Review: Weight watcher or no weight watcher, I love this marvellous cookbook simply for the absolutely, positively scrumptous recipes. Many are unique, simple and easy, yet your family or guests will think you spent hours upon hours in the kitchen. What attracted me to the book was the simple fact our family likes to eat healthy, low fat meals - not to lose weight but to prevent weight gain, and to maintain optimum health while still getting our required daily nutrition. This fantastic book fit the bill and my entire family enjoys the recipes and most are are a cinch to prepare. The thorough nutritional breakdown was a real plus and not always found in other cookbooks.

Summary: Excellent Cookbook, Nice Variety, Easy, Great Info & Photos
Review: I got this as a gift since I am in WW and have been very impressed. There is a wide variety of different foods, in different catefories for easy finding. The ingredients are common so you either have them or can get them no problem. The recipes are excellent regardless of whether you are dieting. The photos are very nice and make it easy to want to try things. The nutritional information is elaborate, with carbs, fat, protien, etc... and the points. There are different pointers on how to do things like roasting.... The book is a 3-ring binder, so that you can take out the pages and then put them back, and so that the book can be placed on the counter flat. Simply excellent if you like to cook at all this is the one for WW people. Also, someone gave me a book called Effortless Wellbeing by Evan Finer and I can't believe how helpful it has been to me. For dieting but in so many ways, this book has helped me stay centered and focused on what is important to me. Get this book and get it for your other WW friends as a gift. It's a life-changer! High praise and strong recommendations...

Summary: Not what I was hoping for.
Review: No what I thought. I was hoping for more pictures and lower point recipes. Most meals called for several ingredients. Working full time and lack of cooking experience made this book difficult to fit into my schedule. Hoped more recipes would have me grilling in pam to cut out the unnecessary points in butter and oil.

Summary: Great foundation for recipes, just add spice
Review: I am now a Lifetime Member of Weight Watchers having lost more than 40 pounds and I can say that these recipes definitely help to lose weight. I own this cookbook as well as 3 of the slim WW cookbooks, and they provide the basis for many of the meals I prepare.

There is a great deal of variety in the recipes, but often times they don't add enough seasonings. This is not a big deal if you know what types of spices to add, because those are usually are 0-points so you get the basis for how to do a low-fat, low-cal dish and you just flavor it the way you want.

My favorite recipe out of all of the WW cookbooks is found here: the linguine alfredo. I love alfredo sauces but rarely eat them because of the fat but this recipe is only 5 points (a cup of pasta plain is 4 points) and tastes delicious (and I have my 2 roommates who are not on WW to attest to this). I lost this recipe for awhile, however, because the index needs improvement. It's not listed under alfredo, and since I had mistakenly been thinking it was fettucine alfredo I had a hard time finding it. But I finally found it, and it tastes great. The tandoori haddock is excellent, and the black bean soup recipe is very innovative (it just calls for too much water, put 1/2 to 3/4 less water than it says).

The dessert section has some interesting recipes, but many of them are fruit based. There are only about 2 or 3 that have chocolate in them.

Overall this cookbook is a good buy. It has tons of recipes and helps spark your own creativity to develop dishes more suited to your palate.

Summary: Tasty and delightful
Review: I found the recipes easy to follow. They make use of herbs and spices that add flavor and interest to the meals. However, one point I would like to bring up is the lack of serving sizes in the recipes. For instance the Beef Barley Soup states that it makes 4 servings and each serving counts for four points; it fails to mention the size of the serving. I had to measure out the entire pot of soup to find how many cups I had and then divide it by four. This is time consuming. I have seen throughout the entire book that there are no serving sizes for most of the recipes. Unlike your other cookbook "Simple Goodness" and your Weight Watchers Magazine.

Summary: Great, with a few problems
Review: Like any cookbook, you're not going to love everything. There are some hits and misses here. Fortunately, so far, I've experienced far more of the good than bad. For instance, I can't say enough about how great the Chicken Quesadillas, Tomato Basil Pizza, Beef Chili and Balsamic Veal Chops are. I will avoid like the plague the Chicken Hash and the Roast Beef and Arugula.

What is really lacking from this cookbook, however, is the absence of portion sizes. Like other reviewers have pointed out, this is not a big deal if you are serving up a baked item. But for something like the Beef Chili, you are forced to divide up the meal upon completion just to see what one serving out of four looks like. This is extremely annoying.

Aside from that, the recipes are very easy to make. (Note: when making a dish, trust your instincts. If it seems like too much spinach is being used, like in the Spinach Fettuccine, it probably is. Cut back.)

What I appreciate is the variety, which means you won't get bored and look to that bag of Fritos for comfort.
Despite some shortcomings, I'm still giving this four stars because when this book is on, it's on.

Summary: Easy to Follow, Excellent Variety in the Recipes
Review: The WEIGHT WATCHERS NEW COMPLETE COOKBOOK (Spiral Edition 1998) is the first diet cookbook that I ever felt compelled to buy. I must say that, although I am not a Weight Watchers member, they sure do put out a very good cookbook; one that is easy to follow and even fun to use! I love the spiral binder design and tab sections, as it makes it really easy to thumb through to find the kind of recipe you're looking for. Whether it be appetizers, soups, salads, entrees or desserts, you are sure to find a wide variety of healthy alternatives. Not only that, but they actually taste good, and are even fun to make! What other diet book can you say that about?

I credit this cookbook for two major things: helping to me to stem my earlier weight gain in 2002, and helping me to lose 40 pounds in 2003. Of course, exercise also helped a great deal. I definitely recommend this cookbook to anybody who wants to follow a healthier lifestyle (I won't even call it a "diet"), but who---like me---doesn't see the sense in spending $70+ per week on half-hour group support meetings. As far as I'm concerned, the food's the thing, and this cookbook will help you make better choices without feeling deprived.
