Summary: Great
Review: As you read the book, you realize (again!)how simple you can turn truly important things when you master something, as the authors do in this easy reading book. A lot of people will be shocked by the facts that appear in the book.....a lot of mediocre people. This is a "level 5 must read" masterpiece for everyone who wants to try his best, in any discipline (I'm an Orthopaedic Surgeon myself).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Top of the field
Review: The Quickbook is the only book on emotional intelligence that is compelling. I found the book easy to read and understand and had success introducing it in my company. I'm looking forward to obtaining the new edition in a few months when it is published by Simon and Schuster.

Summary: Hits the nail on the head
Review: This book hits the nail on the head when it talks about the practical, how-to, ways of imparting the emotional "will" to follow and increasing your own emotional intelligence. I recommend this book!

Summary: Great! Lori Rodriguez, SVP of Operations, ImageWare Systems
Review: What a great read. The Emotional Intelligence Quickbook puts the possibilities for success in such simple terms. This book is exactly what people need in order to better themselves at work and at home. I, like most people, encounter frustrating situations all the time in the fast-paced environment we live in today. As I read this book, I developed new insight into how I can improve my relationship skills and reach my goals in life. I urge you to do the same if you want to increase your personal and professional success.

Summary: Do you have 45 minutes?
Review: Because that is how long it will take to read this extended pamphlet on EQ. The book reminds of a term paper that did not have enough text so the author worked the margins and the text size so they could squeeze out a producible book.

Good points about this book is that the basic bare bones theory of EQ, that we need to be aware of it, that this self-awareness of EQ will make us more effective, that EQ will help us in relationships, etc.

So, the concept is great. The book is light - and it will take probably 45 minutes to read, or roughly the time from when you sit down on a plane, take off, and the seat belt light turns off. You will be all done with this book. Grade 'C' Joseph Dworak

Summary: commercial brochure
Review: I bought this book based on the very positive reviews here but I'm very disappointed. I was looking for a condensed overview of the topic of emotional intelligence.

The gist of the book is:
1. EQ is important. They cite a few research findings without going into them. I was already convinced of this.
2. You should measure EQ if you want to improve it. This is a commercial service the writers provide. The book comes with a code that you can use to measure your EQ online.
3. Some ad hoc obvious things you could do that might be EQ in some situations. For instance on the subject of improving EQ in leading teams they say you should regularly have a personal lunch with each of your team members. Just that, no elaboration. This is a good idea in a lot of situations. But it is not a very impressive insight. And there's no explanation of the goals this might serve, the pitfalls, the way to approach this, the EQ mechanics of these kind of lunches or anything else that might be _interesting_ or intelligent.

It's my impression that this book is used by the authors to sell their EQ consultancy to companies and that they consequently don't want to give anything away on EQ in this book.
Buy this book if you want to measure your EQ online. Otherwise buy another book that contains actual knowledge.
I did find this book a total waste of my money.

Emotional Intelligence is the basis of success, it allows you to cope constructively with no matter what ever life hands you. The online test also gives the reader greater insight into how their skills can be developed.

Summary: Emotional Intelligence is Real
Review: I'm into Asian philosophy and this book offers me a quick and easy read on this new topic of emotional intelligence. The concept relates to some of the philosophy I'm into, but much more easy to grasp. Emotional Intelligence is a big word and complex idea, but the book lays it out in plain English--something I appreciate as a start. The book is backed with real research, different from other philosophyies. A tangible idea makes this concept real. I highly recommend the book. The free online assessment allowed me to get my "EQ" scores, something I'm too embarrassed to share. I'll meditate on it.

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: I purchased this book because it was recommended on another title and I'm grateful that it was because I had never heard of the Quickbook before. It's a page-turning summary of a really amazing way to look at life.
