Summary: A simple, practical and powerful call to prayer
Review: Many books call us to prayer, but this book calls us to pray and gives us a real life example of what prayer did in a church. The church is the Brooklyn Tabernacle and it started out as a falling apart church with a congregation less than 50, but through prayer and obedience to God, Pastor Jim Cymbala has been used by God to bring the church to a very large and effective church in probably one of the toughest mission fields in America, New York. This book will challenge you, encourage you and show you how God will be faithful if you obey His command to "Seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness."ΓΏ

Summary: A great book with an even greater message!
Review: Several people in my church, including my Sunday School teachers and my Mom encouraged me to read this book. It's exactly what its title says, "fresh." Pastor Cymbala is right on target with his comments regarding churches and prayer. No matter what condition you're in spiritually this book will be a wake-up call and will encourage you to place your relationship with God priority number one! The sequel "Fresh Faith" is even better!

Summary: A Fresh perspective on *doing* church
Review: Jim Cymbala, pastor of Brooklyn Tabernacle writes a very challanging and engaging book about the place of God in a Christian's life with a special focus on prayer.

In an age where Church Growth experts are constantly focusing on statistical models, programs, and being purpose driven, it is refreshing to read a book that takes a step back and reflects on the larger issue of God's place in the Church and in people's lives.

This book is full of personal illustrations and helpful advice. It challanged me and I have recommended it to my congregation.

Summary: Gives a ray of hope for a culture which is decadent.
Review: This is one of the most uplifting books I have read in many years. I did not believe that anywhere there were people who were zealous to find Jesus Christ. The congregation and their pastor point to a way out of the lack of spiritual power. Everywhere, but especially on the West Coast, churches have little to say that is relevant to the problems of ordinary people. But this church is alive and powerful, not because of superior preaching or even a wonderful choir. It is because they depend on Jesus Christ instead of the gimmickry that is so prevelant throughout this country which is supposed to make churches grow. It is a back-to-basics book for churches regardless of denomination. It is also an inspiring story of what happens when a man in humble submission to God, obeys his voice. Sprinkled throughout the book are stories like that of David, a vagrant who would be despised in most churches, but who found tremendous love and encouragement through Pastor Cymbala and those in his congregation. I would pray this kind of spirituality would spread to many churches. I also would pray that many of us who call ourselves Christians would spend large amounts of time in prayer not in some prefunctory manner but really getting serious about an intimite relationship with the living Christ. If this truly happens perhaps there is still some hope for this nation.

Summary: Moved me to tears and excited me to action
Review: Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire is the story of the Brooklyn Tabernacle and its pastor Jim Cymbala. The book is filled with testimonies of God's work in the lives of people. Cymbala's message focuses on prayer, compassion and the life changing power of God. Fresh Wind, Fresh Fires impassions you with a desire to call out to God to do great things through your life. It let's you see what God can do through broken, humble and desperate people. The stories moved me to tears and excited me to action.

Summary: This book shows the power of prayer today
Review: In this book the author does not give a bunch of how to's that only apply to one church in particular. He tells the story of how a burden for prayer changed his church around and gives examples of the miracles he's witnessed as a result. I cried and laughed, but most importantly I was convicted by the Holy Spirit. I couldn't put the book down and for me, a non-reader, that's a big deal.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: Fresh wind Fresh fire is wonderful. It has given me a lot of insights and many things that will be helpful in my personal life I plan on buying at least two copies of the book and give them to family and friends. Books that add something to ones life are really hard to find.

Summary: The Most Inspiring Book I've Read In Years!
Review: This book should have been subtitled "The Power Of Intercessory Prayer"! This is a book that demonstrates how ready ,willing, and able the Lord is to move in the earth today when we put away our adgenda, admit our inadequacy, and take up the imperative of Jesus " Pray YE therefore that the Lord of the harvest will and will and will...". I only wish I could put this book into the hands of every Christian that is earnestly believing God for a fresh move of His Spirit in their church and community. I'm confident that this book will encourage everyone who reads it.

Summary: Except for the Bible most life changing I've ever read!
Review: This was one book I could not put down til it was finished. Most books like this put me to sleep. How God worked in this church and through it's ministers is only more evidence of how He can still work in people's lives today, if they will only allow God to be present in thier lives! It is a must read for every Christian!
