Summary: Astounding and absolutely necessary!
Review: This book was so necessary in this series! We have about 2,000,000 people imprisoned in the U.S. Many of them suffer from lack of empathy with their victims. And a lot of them have been reading the other books in the Chicken Soup series and have gotten a lot of new insight and understanding of others and of other people's feelings and concerns. This book can inspire them to take charge of their own lives and find the strength to reform themselves.
In the Jewish faith, there's a phrase, "tikkun olam", which means "the repair of the world". This book is certainly part of that. Well done! More power to the author, Tom Lagana.

Summary: Our Prisoner's Souls Now Has Chicken Soup!
Review: Unfortunately, we have a large number of individuals in our society who believe prisoners are not worthy of being treated as fellow human beings. "Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul" proves them wrong. It shows a compassionate and tender side-something completely opposite of how prisoners are sometimes portrayed. I'm thankful for "Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul." I started volunteering at the Missouri State Penitentiary, thinking I had something to offer the offenders. What I soon found out was that they had much more to offer me. I have been blessed beyond words. Now, I volunteer in two prisons in the State of Missouri with Toastmasters. One club is in the Missouri State Penitentiary (The Walls), which is a maximum security prison for males in Jefferson City and the other is a women's prison in Vandalia, MO. This book is sooooo good for the soul! I laughed, I cried, and I could relate to so many of the stories.

Summary: Soup That Shines Like A Beacon
Review: Until now, my soul was stuffed in the trunk, hammering and clawing on the inside of the lid, shrieking to get out and do a little good in this world. Chicken soup? He was lucky, that soul, to get a bag of Funyuns, an Olde English, and a Marlboro. All that's changed now. After reading this book, I swore that when I got out of Attica State Correctional Facility I'd make amends to society. Of course I hadn't "meant" to go along with the others using substandard materials in constructing that overpass. Of course I had the best of intentions. Somehow I'd always managed to explain it away. I had thirty days to think about what I'd done though, and the sting of a seven-figure fine. Plus the guy in the next cell insisted on a carton a day to read the Chicken Soup thing to me (I'm visually impaired...one of the things that Chicken Soup, etc., taught me to "see" was that my rage over my impairment had led me to large-scale graft and civic malfeasance). I guess he knew he had me: the sentencing judge had insisted that I select a redemptive work of philosophy to read while in stir. He suggested St. Augustine but I soon found out that since Augustine is a "brother" a man of my tone is discouraged from studying him. So I picked the next best thing: Jack Canfield. I asked "Wish Bone" to read it to me and the rest is history.

Summary: Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul
Review: We highly recommend this book for anyone who is incarcerated, has a family member or friend in jail or for anyone who has compassion for their fellow man. We conduct a support group at the local county jail based on this incredible book, "Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul". In our group, inmates take turns reading the stories out loud and many times we have to pass the tissues around. These true life stories open all of our hearts as they help us to realize our connection with one another. One man read a story about a Dad and his son and when he was finished he began to cry openly. He shared that he knew he needed to talk to his Dad and that he was so ashamed. Another woman cried as she read the words of a poem, "I'm scared, alone and stuck in this place." These are stories that touch the Souls of those incarcerated since they are so very real and personal. The inmates cherish these books and treat their copies like a treasure. Our second recommendation for everyone is to not only read this book but to buy another copy and ask that it be sent to your local prison library! Thank you Tom Lagana, for authoring this much needed book!

Summary: A Must Read for All
Review: Wow! The stories in this book opened my eyes and heart to a new understanding of those in prison and their families. If all of our society would take time to read these stories, I believe there could be a huge healing for millions of hearts. Another masterpiece for these authors. Keep them coming!
