Summary: God WINKS in Mysterious Ways!
Review: ... Some people claim that God talks to them. This is true of spiritual believers from various faiths. Many Christians often speak of the fact that the Lord spoke to them in one way or another. In "the olden days," it seemed that God spoke in very dramatic and profound ways - like through a burning bush! Nowadays, it seems like we have to be ready and open to pick up on these little "winks." Whatever.

... Anyone who has read the book of SYNCHRONICITY by Carl Jung is aware of the profound impact that "coincidences" and "non-causal, time-related-activities" have on the human psyche. They are like emotional billboards screaming: "LOOK AT THIS!!!" ... These winks are no ordinary bats of the eyelids. They are often deep and life-changing experiences. The author expounds on them very eloquently. His life was changed by "god winks."

... If you, too, have ever had the unsettling experience that you were being given a message from God through some sort of "funny coincidence" of some kind or another and you would like to learn more about these kind of occurrences, then read this book. Squire Rushnell does a fine job at explaining it all in simple language without a lot of the new age mumbo jumbo that seems to haunt books about topics such as this one. It's an easy and inspiring read - and it just might make you feel better about that last deja-vu you had while you were going about your daily routine! ... YOWZA! - The Aeolian Kid

Summary: God winked me at me when I got this book!
Review: A friend gave me this book to borrow but after the first chapter I went out and bought my own copy so I could keep it! I found his writing engaging and enlightening and although as some have reviewed that he did not discuss spiritual depth as to why coincidences occur, I still found each story a "spiritual" message in their own right. I will buy this book for gifts for friends who need encouragement and delight in their lives. I loved this book. I found my own spiritual message here... that God winked at me by my friend giving me this book in the first place...

Summary: The Ultimate Beach Book
Review: Anyone who has ever wondered if there was something more to coincidence than meets the eye, MUST READ THIS BOOK! Story after compelling story proves that there is something bigger than all of us guiding our paths. Squire Rushnell engagingly makes the case, in simple yet powerful terms, that you have messages of reassurance and hope being sent to you...and you alone...every day. When God Winks is just as the lady in the book store said, "A ground breaking book."

Summary: If you want to delve deeper
Review: I liked this book simply because it reaffirmed the faith I already have in the power of coincidence and because I've seen it work in my life as well as in other people's lives. If you enjoyed this, but wanted to delve further, I would recommend reading The Celestine Prophecy books. These books, through fictional tales, show you the importance of paying attention to coincidence. More often than not if you feel a connection to something or someone there will or is a reason for it. Just be courageous enough to explore it and keep yourself open to looking for the lessons new introductions and situations can teach you.

Summary: A nod toward greatness
Review: I love it when God winks at me and changes my life with something AMAZINGLY
POSITIVE -- Like this book! It opened my eyes to how frequently this can happen in
everyday life.

For example, I was riding in a taxi in NYC and found a CD in the back of the cab --
it was a disc of singing lessons called "Voice Lessons To Go",
and I started using it. Before you know it I entered a
karaoke contest and won $500!

Another fun story is the lessons I learned on the dvd "New Sex Now"
-- who would expect to ever learn something NEW about sex
when you're already a medical doctor?! Turns out there
WAS something I didn't know, and did it ever make a HUGE
difference in my life. A year and a half after watching that
disc for the first time, I got married to the woman of my dreams!

And the third and final example is the book The Artist's Way, which
led me to start writing a journal. While rambling down some everyday
thoughts I came up for a breakthrough cure for a rare disease I've
been researching for years -- all because I read a book on how to
inspire my inner ARTIST!

When God winks at you it is a blessing -- but even more than that
you need to have your eyes open and be willing to see him wink --
or at least to FEEL it!

Sincerely,
Doug Jonstone

Summary: great summer reading
Review: I read this book over the course of a few days and then I went back and reread parts of it again. It gave me a lot to think about, just what do coincidences in our lives mean. It really made me think about my past and track all the coincidences so I could see how they've been influencing me all these years and encouraging me to go on. Now I keep a "wink" diary so I can use the coincidences and put myself in a position to get more of them showing me where I'm going or if where I'm going is right for me. The idea really reinforced that I did the right thing resigning my job last year, even though things have been ok on my own I still wondered...I don't wonder any more. I know I did the right thing. Really helpful, loved the stories and the section at the end of the chapters highlighted what the author was saying. Great book, I'm loving re-reading it again and again.

Summary: Not all coincidences are a wink from God
Review: I thought that this would be a Godly book. Wrong! It is full of lots of New Age Spirituality and that is the problem. God does not wink at us so we will get a divorce. Satan has the power to wink at us too. I have seen many great opportunities come that made people lots of money but destroyed their families, their health and their lives in the end. We have the opportunity at these times to make the Godly choice or the secular choice. Many of the stories presented here are about times like this in life.

My concern is that people that are not strong spiritually will not pray about coincidences that happen to them. They will just take the information from this book and run with it. Suddenly little coincidences will mean it is time for a change, divorce, leave the family, change jobs, without considering the consequences. You can read other reviewers stating that they are basing important life decisions on coincidence now instead of prayer, knowledge and discernment. Yes, God does wink at us at times, but we must weigh these coincidences to ensure their outcomes are pointing us in a Godly direction.

People should look up the words bless, blessing and blessed in their bibles. There are many great stories there about "God winks" but there is also instruction in discernment, prayer and listening. Not all coincidences are a wink from God.

Other things I did not care for:

A large part of the book is based on the author dropping names as if he is at a Hollywood dinner party.

Part of it is written like a motivational speaker's book, lots of fluff but no substance.

The author has us looking inward instead of Godward.

God is used just enough in the writings to be used as part of the title.

Many of the stories used are ones many of us have heard through motivational speakers, during seminars or as inspirational e-mail attachments.
