Summary: A must for Christian newlyweds
Review: This book was reccomended to me by a friend and I read it. I then had my fiance (now husband) read it. I've passed it on to an engaged friend and she is now passing it on to others.

More than just a how-to book. It answers questions you're afraid to ask but need to know.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very Straight Forward.
Review: This book was recommended in a pre-marital class I was taking. I was a little disappointed because I thought it was going to be this 'idea'and 'advice' packed read. I would only recommend this book for the "inexperienced".

Summary: An excellent book overall, but a couple of problems...
Review: This important book has plenty of great information for newlywed couples, and I am grateful that it is available as an alternative to the non-Christian and sometimes amoral resources that seem to dominate this topic. But I cannot give it five stars, because some of the information is not adequate. The Birth Control Pill is promoted, although I understand it is sometimes abortifacient. Also, the information regarding Natural Family Planning (this book uses the outdated term "Rhythym") is about 35 years past its time!! I would strongly recommed any reader to do their own research on the above two topics. I would also suggest that Catholic readers investigate Catholic teaching on the morality of birth control on their own, since this book takes a strong "pro" stance which is very different than the Catholic one. I also personally thought that certain historical comments in the book had a rather definite anti-Catholic tone. I am not accusing the LeHayes of being prejudiced against Catholics, but they do seem to have an unjustified antipathy towards the Catholic Church of history- probably because of a strong Protestant bias. The above points having been made, I would still recommend this book for married couples wanting to improve their physical relationship, and for engaged couples as they prepare for this special aspect of their married lives.

Summary: A fine book, however....
Review: This is a fine reference book for married couples when it comes to the sexual intimacy that is appropriate for marriage. Both of the Lahaye's do a great job of outlining a Christian view on sex, with an emphasis that a healthy sex life in marriage is a thing to enjoy, rather than to avoid.

I will say, as an aside, that for couples that may be somewhat circumspect in their sex life, this may not be the book for them. The book is very staightforward, which may be alarming to some individuals. However, I believe that any Christian individual who has a healthy outlook on sex will be very impressed with this book.

Summary: Great source of christian information regarding intimacy.
Review: This is one of the books my husband and I read before our wedding. I was raised in a christian home and had no knowledge in this area. It was a topic that just wasn't discussed even in the church. I didn't want to be afraid of intimacy, due to the lack of knowledge but rather in peace knowing that the act of marriage is sacred and to be enjoyed in the union of marriage. My husband and I were able to get informed with a christian perspective and we were able to take from it what we needed. This is a book that I often give to friends whom are getting married. It is a great book to read as a starter in getting to know more about intimacy in a marriage.

Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: We were recommended this book by our pastor as a part of our reading for premarital counseling. While it does contain good information on the basics of male & female anatomy, the helpful part stops there. The LaHayes perpetuate all sorts of gender stereotypes, one-sided arguments, and just plain odd understandings of Scripture. My husband and I were both offended by the way that this book characterizes women as "delicate creatures" who need to know nothing about sex save for the needs of their husbands. We were angered by the LaHayes argument -- supposedly based on scripture -- that all couples should want and attempt to have children. While children are indeed a blessing to many couples, it seems simplistic and unrealistic to assume that all couples should have upwards of five children. While we've both slogged through this book in hopes of learning as much as we can, it's been a disappointing process. While this book may be an interesting look at the conservative church's views on sex as of 1955, I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a helpful, encouraging introduction to married sex.
