This memoir is a fantastical thrill Review: Seductive Poison is the real thing: of demons, brews, alchemy and a true life young person conquering evil. Children need to read about real heros and heroines. I had goosebumps straight through.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A gripping tale of a tragedy we have sadly misunderstood Review: Having just finised Seductive Poison, M-i-r-a-c-u-l-o-u-s! comes to mind. This is a you-are-there epic that portrays the horror and heroism of someone who believed in a utopia, fought for her leader, then saw her mother and friends perish in the outback jungles of Guyana South America. That Layton survived is the stuff of great novels. However, this is a true life thriller that'll keep you up late at night with it's thunderous drama and snippets of sweet innocent delight. Hopefully, one day Seducitve Poison will be required reading for theolgians, politicians and therapists. No one will ever understand until they have experienced this intensely honest and personal account.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: BRAVO! A Powerful story of resilience and strength Review: Deborah Layton's haunting memoir paints a poignant picture of her youth and seven years in the Peoples Temple. This poignant and heart-rendering testament to resiliency and determination is populated with wonderful and memorable characters. I fell in love with the savvy black grandmother, Mary who took Deborah and her mother under her protective wing; Lee, the Jonestown workcamp leader who lent humanity to a horrendous situation; and with Deborah, the lost and misguided innocent who finally gets-it and escapes to warn the world of Jim Jones evil intentions. I gasped, laughed, cried and wiped sweat from my brow as I read on through the night, unable to put this remarkbale book down. BRAVO!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is History made thrilling. A must-read for our kids! Review: This is a book absolutely everyone should read. It is a book about idealism, hope and trust twisted by the evil likes of a madman, the Rev. James Jones of Jonestown. The prose is eloquent, the topic's messmerizing and the outcome will absolutely rip your heart out. I could not put it down.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Superb Review: This memoir is a deftly composed drama exploring the true life experiences of a teenager who found herself caught in a cult and seven years later managed to escape. Seductive Poison is a deep and insightful historical document loaded with fascinating and pertinent information on cults. More like a novel than an autobiography I found it to be a mystery, thriller and spiritual journey. It is an all night reader, almost impossible to put down.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Took my breath away Review: Such a story I have not read in a decade. It is an absolutely breathtaking story. This author wrote from her heart. I feel honored to have been given a peek into that other world.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Amazing Story of Courage and Fear Review: I was late for church just listening to Ms Layton interviewed this morning on the radio with Susie Marsh. I respectfully apologize for believing all them folks were nuts. The eloquent discussion, her reading and explaination of how so many people got involved has given me a new perspective. I've ordered the book--now I hope I'm not too afraid to read it. Just listening to the author gave me goosebumps.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Filled with answers Review: Seductive Poison took me into another world where I was enraptured, pertified and finally understood why so many people believed. This book is a work of love, art and it's filled with answers to mistaken perceptions. I could not put it down.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Powerful Review: A powerful, vivid and explosive story. Why didn't the government listen to Deborah when she escaped from Jonestown and begged the US State Department for help? Is this another example of the ineptitude of our government? The Message here is teach our children to always respect themselves first and then question authority. A CNBC television interview during the Ugandan incident with Deborah Layton was spell-binding.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Powerful Portrait Of Seduction, Betrayal and the 60's Review: One easily forgets that this work is non-fiction and not a novel. Seductive Poison is a fascinating portrayal of the Vietnam War besieged 60's, the lost and searching 70's and a family afloat on those turbulent tides. When Deborah Layton meets Jim Jones she is in the throws of her rebellion against her parents and the system. All too human, all too familiar. I remember the struggle well. Eloquent and honest.
