Summary: A tremendous feat accomplished
Review: Can anyone explain what happened back then? Will it make sense? Is there any potential of our learning something from it? The answer is: READ THIS BOOK. Hurrah for Deborah Layton for making an effort and succeeding with technicolor images and prose.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Provides a stirring and powerful message
Review: I was reading Seductive Poison when I heard the author interviewed on BBC World News about the Ugandan suicides. It was surreal to hear her voice while reading about her near-death escape from Jonestown. And I thought I had a tough life.

Summary: Unbelievably Moving. I could not put it down!
Review: Family secrets can be deadly as Layton's book attests. More importantly however, is Deborah's determination to BREAK THE SILENCE for the sake of her infant girl. Seductive Poison is a gripping, honest and exceptionally moving book of the life and times of the Layton family. It also graphically shows how the secrets of their Jewish mother set two of the youngest children up to join the black and white world of Jim Jones and his horrific deceit.

Summary: Absorbing
Review: One of the extraordinary aspects of Seductive Poison is its ability to transport you to another time and place. Deborah Layton's fresh and powerful voice is a treat in the often self serving world of memoir. Hers is a moving and transforming tale of life and death in People's Temple and her own rebirth after the Jonestown debacle. Layton's ability to allow us far more than a peek into the dark world of cults is nothing less than a work of genius.

Summary: A Story of Good and Evil Changing Places
Review: Deborah Layton is a real heroine in this painfully honest, superbly written and heartwrenching memoir of loyalty, devotion and the forsaking of a loved one. Seductive Poison is a testament to hopes and dreams gone tragic. I can see it happenening here with our own confusion over what's right and wrong with Elian GOnzalez, his father and the concerned relatives in Miami willing to die for all the wrong reasons.

Summary: An incredible story of the exploitation of innocence
Review: Fascinating. Truly an unforgetable story that needs to be heard, seen and read by the masses. Besides being well written it can be used as an important educational tool to help our children protect themsleves from similar groups.

Summary: The Real Holy Smoke
Review: Forget the recently released movie, "holy smoke' although Kate Winslet is sexy she is no Deborah Layton. Seducitve Poison is the REAL THING. A book you will lose yourself in for hours. I found myself panting thru every page for the very reasons your imagining now.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The webs we weave
Review: Oh my God, those poor people. It is an unbelievable story but I know it to be true. I cried for Debrah and her mother and brother. All those people thought their minister was an honorable man, but Men cannot take the place of God in our lives, therein was their first mistake. I thank God Debrah got out and could write such an important book, heartbreaking though it is.

Summary: Yahoo & Hang On With All Your Might!
Review: Reads like a bat's acrobatic flight out of hell 'cept it's a fallen angel's terrifying journey towards the light. It's one of the best books I have ever read and the first I devoured my fingernails while experiencing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Pump up the volume
Review: WOW! What a story! This book contains information everyone should know. It would make a fantastically powerful audio book and hearing the author read it would make it that much more arresting.
