Rating: Summary: This book holds your attention right from the first page! Review: Cameron West has a wonderful gift for using words that capture your attention and draw you into his world. I can't remember when I have enjoyed a book this much! The detailed accounts of all the alters and their personalities is superb! I can hardly wait for his next book!
Rating: Summary: Emotional, fascinating story of survival Review: I recently saw the author on many different talk shows and bought the book to check it out. I am very interested in mental illness and the ways in which people deal with them. I found this book to be a frank, honest portrayal of a very frightening illness.
Rating: Summary: Captivating to say the least!! Truly an emotional ride! Review: Cameron West & his Alters are remarkable! His wife Rikki is an Angel among us. I throughly enjoyed this book & could not put it down! I highly recommend this read to any & everyone. I am impressed with the strength of the marriage these two people share & the love they hold. I wish Dr. West & his family the very best and can't wait to read the next TRUE adventure of "Cam & his Guys."
Rating: Summary: captivating Review: Being a friend of the author I was looking forward to a unique experience, to say I was rivited is an understatement! Cameron takes you on a journey that will make you stop and take a deep breath, and question anybody who ever doubted the existence of DID. I've enjoyed this book twice, and can't wait to see his next effort.
Rating: Summary: Who's Zooming Who? Review: Anyone who has read or has any experience with incest knows that this type of behavior repeats itself from one generation to the next. Dr. West points out early in his book that this was what in fact happened to him, i.e., grandmother, mother, him. And according to this book his wife has 14+ years working with sexually-abused children. So what I can't figure out is why these two adults find no problem with the fact that after mommy goes to work, daddy jumps in his son's bed for a half hour to read(?) And when daddy's taking a bath in Mr. Bubble or (probably a much more expensive bath additive that mommy has bought in order to coddle one of daddy's child alters) mommy has no problem plunking the kid in there with him. And yet-------she won't let daddy play Monopoly with their son because she's afraid one of daddy's child alters will come out to play mid-game. This just doesn't make any sense to me. Am I the only reader who was troubled by this dangerous inconsistency?
Rating: Summary: Incredible and Sad Review: I had just finished reading Dr. West's book, and I found it fascinating. The diversed personalities that are embedded in his body bring to light the possibility that we may have secret "guys" in us. His writing is simple yet poignant. Cam's reiteration of the conversations among the 25 is truly incredible. I wish him, his family, and his "guys" the best. May the comfort room be there for all of them.
Rating: Summary: Kudos to Cameron, et all !! Review: I throughly enjoyed this book. It was gripping. I couldn't put it down. I think it took courage, unbelivable strength and perseverance to complete such a novel. Cameron et all, thank you for allowing us, the readers, such an in depth look at and through your world. I have read several books about MPD and I will definately add this one to my list of favorites.
Rating: Summary: Mind boggling Review: First Person Plural is a wonderful book. I cried I laughed and I was awed. The book left my mind open and wanting to read more on this subject. I will get more out of life now that I have read this book.
Rating: Summary: I loved it!! Review: I've read it twice...and both times I read it in a single night. I couldn't put it down! It was interesting, and I can't wait to read it again!
Rating: Summary: Amazing insight into the multiple's mind. Review: Cameron West does an amazing job of putting the reader inside his mind. He tells his story in such a way that the reader never loses sight of that fact that he is a person with DID that is both a father and husband and desperately wants to get back to his family. He does a wonderful job of describing his alters and their personalities. The reader comes to care about Cam, his wife, his son and the alters. We the reader want all of them to get better. I loved this book.
