Rating: Summary: An absolutly great book Review: First Person Plural is a great book for anyone who is interested in Dissociative Identity Disorder(DID). Once you begin to read this book you will find it hard to put it down. This book gives insight to DID and how it can change your whole life. First Person Plural is filled with heart-warming content, suspense, and humor.
Rating: Summary: Gives great insight! Review: I am in college and my degree is Psychology, I saw the interview with Cam and Rikki on the Oprah show and knew this book would be worth reading. It was even better than I expected. I felt like I was actually involved in what was going on in his life. The writing was a bit choppy, but I think it added to the effect. It's definitely a must read for anyone interested in DID.
Rating: Summary: An incredible account of a terrible series of experiences! Review: I have never read a book that shook me up more than this one. I read it in 24 hours. I could not put it down! I can't imagine the anguish this man went through. The power of the human mind and its ability to split for the spirit to survive is beyond explanation. I am disgusted that the things that happened to him as a boy exist in our society. My heart goes out to all children who suffer from this evil. I applaud Cameron West for exposing this filth as painful as it probably was, as it probably has opened alot of door for others in silence.
Rating: Summary: Amazing book Review: I just finished the book and only want to say, that's just not to imagine what Cameron was(is) going through.
Rating: Summary: Good, easy read, went very quickly Review: I found that just about *anyone* could read this book--very informative, and excellent descriptions and associations so everyone can understand. I felt the time span ran very quickly, like the day-to-day stuff was kind of skipped. But all in all, I would highly recommend it to all I know. I wanted to know a little bit more about his past and his further associations (if any) with his mother, his thoughts on the whole trauma, rather than his thoughts for his wife. How has his family coped? Has he any communications with any of them, especially his brother? A little bit of a follow up would have been nice.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: This is an outstanding book, once you start you got to finish it. the author was capable of giving us a clear, honest idea about being multiple. 3 days after finishing the book, I felt like re-reading it again. I just loved it !
Rating: Summary: Not a Must-Read Review: I found this book a difficult read. The writing was very choppy, which caused me to wonder if perhaps if the various personalities were constantly interrupting each other as the paragraphs were written. I'm sure in other hands, this book would make an excellent story.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful title and writing to go with a wonderful book! Review: As a teenager and aspiring psycologist, I found this book amazing. It was by far my favorite book ever, not to mention a perfect read for anyone who is curious about DID (MPD). Not only did it draw me in w/ it's great writing and haertfelt story, but the information given was specific enough to give insight into the psycological point of things. Well, I hope you all love it as much as I did, thank you for reading!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Read! Review: Could not put it down. It was unbeliveable what that man went through and how he was able to survive in the end. Recommend this book to anyone to read espcially if in medical or psych field of work.
Rating: Summary: The book gave me a sense of warmth all over... Review: When I first saw Cameron and his wife, Rikki, on the Oprah show, I knew I had to get the book. I had to wait for it's release and when I finally got it, I couldn't put it down. I read the entire book in one day. The strength of this man and his family truly shows what families should be made of. I have so much admiration and respect for them that I cannot express it. To know that there are people out there who can and will be by your side through thick and thin, better or worse, and in sickness and in health. Thank you Cameron, for the inspiration that you have given us all that have read your book.
