Summary: Spiritually breathtaking.
Review: When I first started to read the book I had to condition myself to read it every day to do the process properly. Once the proper adjustments were made, I couldn't put it down---that was the problem initially.

By far, one of the most insightful books I have ever read.

Summary: Forty Days to a Better Prepared Soul
Review: This time, I really ran across a wonderful book! Yes, it's written by Iyanla Vanzant. I couldn't hardly help seeing it's bright cover sticking out of the books layed out before me in the bookstore.

This book is truely written from the heart. It is deep, real, stunningly personal, practical, joyous, and a downright excellent spiritual read.

I love the personal touches she uses...everyday plain talk, comments we can all associate with, the ups and downs in our feelings about what we are experiencing, the attitudes we all have to endure about how we feel when things happen to us!

This is the kind of book I wished more authors would write when it comes to "how to." You know what I mean by the usually dull, textbookish, 1,2,3 approach to how to it. But not this book!

I not only give 5 stars to Iyanla Vanzant for this precious gift, I give her five big kisses.

This book is a wonderful tool, practical, heartfilled, warmed my cockles and said something practical that spoke plainly and simply to my soul. It spoke of us all who struggle through these trying times of ever increasing unsureness, giving us tools to practice and use to get back to hope, beauty, love and charity of heart.

If I were commissioned to write a book to direct the mind to spiritual upliftment, I would seek out Iyanla for the keys to success. She has provided us all with a workbook worthy of ourselves and of God.

As she says, I should not be afraid to dare to be wrong, to be criticized, to take a chance and say what I think, and I am doing so right here. If you want a way out of this mess we call planet Earth in the computer age of ill reason, get right with yourself...cuddle up for 40 days and nights on this Noah's Ark of delight...

Thank YOU Iyanla for telling it just like it is! We need more of this stuff, and soon! When can you have the next 40 lessons ready?

Summary: This book showed me my true relationship with GOD
Review: This is the third book Ive read by Ms. Vanzant. I was surprised to find out upon purchasing it that it was not only to be read but a daily journal. It helped me to find what was missing in my life which was my understanding of my connection with GOD. I now look at everything in a different perspective and enjoy my relationships with everyone that I come across in this lifetime.

Summary: A lifejacket when you realize you're drowning...
Review: Once again, Ms. Vanzant has used her down to earth approach, her parables, her own experiences, her spiritual training and her love of people to get to the heart of the matter and the reader. I felt as if this book were written exclusively for me as I have with every book read by this author. " When the pupil is ready the teacher will come," as the adage goes and what a teacher. There are places to do work to put one's life in order, five different places to remember and to project and to let one's feelings out. Words of logical wisdom, ways to cope and prayers to give one the confidence and support to face/deal with the challenges of life are all present. There are no simple answers but there are definitely answers, all we as readers have to do is listen to the questions and your feelings, they are not wrong. This book was the equivalency of laying on the therapist's couch, a counseling session you can conduct on your own and at your own pace, a way out of no way. I highly recommend this book for people seeking answers to questions of how to... Not how to do a feat but how to live optimally within oneself. I find Ms. Vanzant's oracle abilities comfortable as well as thought provoking.

Summary: Wisdom told briefly and clearly
Review: I confess I didn't expect much from this book when I first heard about it. After seeing the author on OPRAH, I figured the content would be mostly recycled inspiration geared to hopelessly neurotic and overly hormonal female members of this planet. But since I happen to be going through a period of my life where I am experiencing a lot of spiritual upheaval, trying to make a huge quantum leap of my own, I found myself drawn to the idea of buying a copy. After searching high and low, I finally managed to obtain the book (should have ordered from Amazon in the first place) and read it over New Year's weekend (not 40 days). In the end, I was so glad I did buy it, because it turns out that Iyanla Vanzant has a gift for speaking directly and truthfully. She doesn't hide a thing from the reader, and that makes it less likely a reader who is ready to receive some guidance won't be able to hide from him/herself. I found the book encouraging, too, because it confirmed that I'm taking the right steps to improve my life and get a good handle on the future. No doubt anyone who is ready for this book will be impressed at how much Iyanla is in touch with the Life Force and feel their own life force strengthened after reading it.
