Rating: Summary: In the Meantime Review: This book by Vanzant has been very helpfulto me regarding relationships. Hopefully it is helping in all my relationships. One mistake that I have made in the past is to let jealousy play a big part and another mistake that I have made often in the past is to focus on the other person instead of focusing on myself. To make myself happy I need to focus on myself and think positive about myself. Ignore that little voice that keeps putting me down. Tell myself I am a good person and I can not expect another person to fill all my needs.
Rating: Summary: It Stunk Review: This silly, shallow, stupid book was given to me by my lunatic ex- girlfriend and it stunk... hokey, feel good garbage with no depth or real meaning.
Rating: Summary: 40DAYS AND 40 NIGHT Review: THIS IS A GREAT BOOK. I WISH I HAD ANOTHER ONE OF MY OWN
Rating: Summary: One Day My Soul Just Opened Up Review: This is an excellent book for anyone willing to break old destructive patterns and habits. I am doing the commentaries a second time, and it is better than the first time. I find that I am able to retain the lessons better this time, and even remember the meditations. Thank you Ms. Vanzant for listening to the Divine and giving people such beautiful lessons to help us evolve into their divine spirit.
Rating: Summary: One Star for Great Fiction Review: Ms. Vanzant's "Truth Postulates" are quite lovely, and may even seem liberating; in fact, they may appeal to many who consider themselves Christians. However they directly oppose the truth postulates found in the Bible, which has proven to be the best-selling book of all time. Ms. Vanzant has gleaned ideas from many different religions which worship what the Bible refers to as "fasle gods" (this includes the worship of "self"), combining all the concepts she likes, and discarding the rest. How convenient. It's too bad that doesn't work in REAL life. You, the reader, must decide for yourself what is Truth. Whether you know it or not, your very life depends on it. If you do not compare what Ms. Vanzant says with what the Bible says, you will be omitting the Source of truth which is being read all over the world by people who are excited to discover a loving God, the Creator of the universe, Who is described in detail in its pages. Don't buy Ms. Vanzant's philosophy hook, line and sinker. Rather, do your own research to discover which is the counterfeit. In the meantime, beware of opening yourself up wide to any and every "new" philosophy that SOUNDS good. Lots of things which are really bad for us sound very, very good.
Rating: Summary: Listen To Your Heart Review: One day in the summer, I saw a lady with this book and I was "UNWILLING"to ask her who wrote it, so needless to say I did not.I remembered the title because it was beautiful.I forgot about the book for awhile due to the many changes that were going on in my life, until one day I prayed for some guidence while soul searching and the name of the book just came into my mind.(My Divine Spirit was leading me and I didn't even know it)Anyway, I was determined to find this book and I did not know what it was about, but as I picked it up and glanced at day one "Truth"I knew it was an important tool for me during this journey. After a couple of days, I began to see and feel changes in my heart and soul. I also became aware of my Divine Spirit and in making a connection with God. I can proudly say that I am intune with myself and am growing stronger by the day. Some people drift through life not finding themselves, let alone true happiness, but for me I am forever grateful to be on this journey called soul searching and I know now that I do not walk it alone. THANK YOU IYANLA VANZANT, I LISTENED TO MY HEART,FOR ONE DAY MY SOUL JUST OPENED UP AS WELL!
Rating: Summary: Iam able to do in 18 days what I couldn't do in 47 years! Review: I am only at day 18, and already I am experiencing the changes. Along with this book I read my Acts of Faith each day; also doing the meditation before getting out of bed in the morning has helped me to deal with "all" and "any" that comes along. I am thankful that the Higher Power is using Ms. Iyanla to pass the word along to us "correctly" who have been obviously, not doing so good in our lives. Remember Plan Purposefully, Prepare Prayerfully, Proceed Positively and Pursue Persistently. Thanks sister in Christ.
Rating: Summary: Practical principles to ponder and act on. Inspirational. Review: I read it daily and continue to read it frequently. Insightful and thought provoking. It has healed many areas in my life.
Rating: Summary: 40 Days and 40 Nights are Forever! Review: I started this book in July of 1998. I completed it the first time around and realized this work was the shovel to dig into my deeper self. I have since started the book twice again, because each time I am able to record yet a deeper level of growth. Iyanla is by far the greatest leader in spiritual nurturing.
Rating: Summary: Insightful, empowering and responsible Review: Anyone on the path of personal growth needs to read Vanzandt's work, especially this journal. It isn't overwhelming or condescending like many other (I even hate to use the phrase, but..) "self help" books. It's empowering and enlightening. She gives a fresh, clear, responsible perspective on life. I recommend this book to everyone, men and women.. old and young. It's a life changer.
