Rating: Summary: Insperational Truth! Review: I happen to stumble across this book at the bookstore and was drawn to it by its beautiful cover. Then I flipped to the chapter called Closure and it was like my heart was in my hands, I knew I had to buy it. This book has helped me to expand my spirituality. I'm buying another book for my mother!
Rating: Summary: Magnificent! Well thought and prepared!! Review: I am a 24 year-old Afican-American woman and I first learned of Mrs. Vanzant after seeing her on the Oprah Winfrey show. I was amazed to see an African-American woman providing information to women on relationships, both intrapersonal and interpersonal, to women of all colors. After hearing what she had to say, I rushed out and bought the book. I consider it one of the smartest investments I've made. I look forward to reading "In the Meantime." I highly recommend my family, friends, or anyone who appreciate good books to read any of her works. Keep up the good work!!!Tanisha

Rating: Summary: theory of "the prophet" put into practical usable solutions. Review: I'm a firm believer in God-- The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran has been my strength when I had to look up to see down--Iyanla Vanzant's book One Day My Soul Just Opened Up just gave me the practical tools my soul I needed to realign my life and the means to apply the knowledged I aleady have. Parts of my life and family are scattered though-out this gem--how to apply knowledge is the hard part--I've needed this sensible advise for years and years. "leave your cloak-but not in another path" = you can do anything you want as long as you dont walk on someone else to do it. This book is a working tool to make anyone's life better.
Rating: Summary: It is just refreshing and breath-taking. It helps me breath Review: I kept throwing the book down because it made me grow, live, and expand. It made me move beyond my boundaries that I had placed on myself and run free. At times, it may scare you because she seems as if she lives in your house and sees your flaws, but then she goes on and helps you correct them and become a magnificent human being! The book did it for me!
Rating: Summary: To Read and Re-read Review: I've yet to get to the journaling aspect of this book because I am "called" daily to read, contemplate and reflect on the authors profound ability to see inside my soul. I have purchased 5 of these book to give to those I love.
Rating: Summary: Spiritually enlightening & soul stirring Review: Once again Sister Vanzant feeds the soul of African American women. This book is yet another in her series of books dedicated to the empowerment of women. The daily format is helpful if you are trying to gain a sense of balance and structure in your spiritual development.
Rating: Summary: Beware! Review: All I can say is "avoid this mess alone." That's all this author's publications are -- spiritual mess. A bit of new age here, occult there, and a healthy dose of self-centeredness and walla! Vanzant created her own patchwork quilt of a religion! Someone recommended this book, like it was a great masterpiece. I could not get through the first few pages. Vanzant's writing style is superficial and amatuerish. Worse, is that she flies in the face of those who profess Christianity. I got this book out of my face and house in the same manner as a voodoo doll. Despite the user-friendly marketing approach of Ms. Vanzant, this book can easily be seen as not very deep, even by lukewarm religious people. God warns us in the OT and NT of the Bible of the days when women try to create religion and usurp authority (in this case, profit$$) from men. This book is written in the spirit of Jezebel. Repent, Ms. Vanzant, repent!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: 5 PLUS STARS!! Review: I will be the first to admit, I took a lot longer than 40 days to read this book. Mainly because, my soul was so closed, that I had to read certain chapters twice! But this book is so refreshing!! I have totally changed my point of view on life's crisis that once had me bogged down, and my soul closed. Thank you Iyanla! I love you for helping me "Open up my soul".
