Summary: I feel like I have found a best friend - my only one ever.
Review: After flailing about in a sea of self-destruction, dissociation and broken promises, I finally understand why. 'When Rabbit Howls' is a magnificent account of the most nerve-racking condition in the world, and the most ingenious - multiple personality. For the woman known as Truddi Chase to survive the horrific abuse of her childhood, and for her to have given us this account, is nothing short of a blessing from God. We understood every word of this book and will cherish it forever. We finally feel as though we belong in the world. The Troops have transformed our lives with their compassion, friendship, understanding and resourcefulness. We HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who has endured abuse at the hands of those with greater power - for whatever reason. After reading this book, you will understand that "multiple personality" is not a disorder - it is the best we can do!

Summary: You want an insight into Hell? How about 92+ of them?
Review: My mother gave me this book to read when it first was published in 1987 when I was 11 years old. It was incredibly hard for me to fathom, but I read it time and time again because I could feel the intensity of the story beyond the words I could not yet comprehend. Now at 22 years old, I have read this book at least 10+ times...and now that I understand it it never fails to make me angry.

This woman suffered more hell than anyone in this lifetime ever should have to...except for perhaps the man that created that hell. As a survivor...(though not to nearly her degree), I could not help but feel murderous rage towards this hellspawn of a man that created her worlds with his wicked hands. It's a graphic story, not forthe faint hearted or the weak spirited...it will put you in perspective in all ways, from the naivete of the child to the awful mature memories ...you will see it through her eyes; you will be there with her as she relives it.

I thank my mother for giving me this book to read; it was of more help than a thousand therapy sessions. It's a harrowing, shattered, painful story of triumph over what seems to be insurmountable odds; this woman has been an idol of mine for years, her and the Troops, and one day it would be a great pleasure to make her aquaintance just to smile at her and say, "You won."

Summary: heartbreaking yet truthful......
Review: I know and I believe her story because I know her pain as well, as far as the abuse goes. For some reason though I didn't "split up" the way she did. It's so hard to understand. I sometimes wonder if that was a blessing or a hinderance on my part. I admire the woman, her strength and her courage. God Bless her over and over again and especially the "child" who sleeps. May she never have to awaken and face the horror. God Bless The Troops for being there.

Summary: Eye-opening account of MPD--let's me uderstand the voices.
Review: The voices are real; Truddi Chase is real; other MPD's are real. Perhaps through this telling they may be believed.

Summary: excellent
Review: I found the case of Trudi Chase to be one of the most paniful, yet interesting cases of MP that ever came to be known. Her generation of "the troops" was something that many of us feel all the time, only amplified millions of over. Not for the faint of heart though, it's very intense

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Personally, the most moving book I have ever read on MPD.
Review: I saw Truddi on The Oprah Winfrey Show some years ago and was truly moved by her courage to confront the demons. I bought and read her book a short time later and was shocked at the horrific abuse this little girl suffered. Her father was a really sick man. (I wonder if he ever was punished or at least, if he ever sought treatment.) As I hear about stories of sexual and physical abuse of young children in our society, I can't help but wonder how many psychologically impaired and maimed children will grow up to be abusers as well. I wish Truddi good luck in her continued efforts.

Summary: Very Good
Review: When Rabbit Howls is a very good book.. Truddi Chase did an excellent job showing the reader what it is like to have multiple personalities. Her story was believable and allowed the reader to feel like they were really in the book.. It was the best book about MP I have read so far.

Summary: Disturbing and powerful journey through incest recovery.
Review:

This incredibly moving book brings tears to my eyes and rage into my heart every time I read it. Not for the faint- hearted, this is a journey through the therapy and discovery of "Truddi Chase's" past.

At the age of two, Truddi Chase's original psyche "died" as the result of a brutal, incestuous incident. The abuse continued for years. As the abuse continued, the Troops grew, and took shape, each one only marginally aware, if at all, of the others. The incredible internal dialogue which ensues and the rage which cannot and will not be denied remind me on every page that this is more than an autobiography; it's a catharsis.

Summary: When Rabbit Howls
Review: Dearest Truddi.......You and your "Troops" are in the minds of everyone who has ever heard your story, or has read your book. We all feel your pain through the words written by the "Troops". To anyone who has not read this book yet, When Rabbit Howls is an amazine trip into the world of mulitplicity and how a person deals with pain and suffering during the most imortant times in ones life. After being a victim of abuse from the ages of 2-16, Truddi deals with this torture by going into a sort of coma and the real Truddi goes into a "sleep" mode for the duration of her adult life. This is where the "Troops" take over. Her mind, unknown to her, splits into 92 very different personalities and end up controlling her every move. The book takes you into the mind of the "Troops" and opens the reader up to the pain and suffering endured by Truddi. If you are ever curious about what Truddi is really like, she was on Oprah a few years ago and her story is amazing. This book is Highly recommended.
