Rating: Summary: Denial, Acceptance, then Understanding Review: My wife told me for years that I had problems. It wasn't until I read Chuck's book that I realized how right she was. It is only after we have accepted the fact of PTSD in our lives that we can begin to deal with it. Without this little book I would probably still be in denial. Every vet needs to read this book. I have given a number away and everyone who has read it has benefited greatly. Give a copy to a friend, but get one and read it for yourself first. It will help anyone who reads it, especially family members who have been mystified by the change that took place in their vet.

Rating: Summary: Welcome Home Review: Our Vietnam Vets' experiences are atrocious. The sacrifices they made for us cannot be described and we have not shown are appreciation. We and our government allowed them to return with no preparation, debriefing, or assistance. Our Vets remained in battle, but now with themselves. Chuck fought both wars and shows that there is light at the end of this long tunnel. There is a proven means of overcoming the PTSD - without the use of alcohol and drugs - Jesus Christ! Chuck was there and he has made it back! This is a must read for veterans and their families.

Rating: Summary: helps identify hidden triggers to trauma burried from war Review: This book reveals why vets from war react as they do to life. Their survival tactics that got them home alive from war are now the cause of their problems. Long ago burried scenes are replayed by certain sounds, sights, smells, dates or something else that makes the war a daily reminder to them. Many live the war but don't know why. This excellent book helps the vet identify their partcular triggers and helps them to accept and deal with it without self medication. Modern help has overlooked the spiritual side of man that can give him a new identity. I recommend this book to any person who has a traumatic experience that has changed them.
Rating: Summary: This book showed me & other vets where to get healing Review: This was the first book I found that really confronted the issue of PTSD (Post Tramatic Stress) in the Vietnam vet and his family. It dealt with every aspect of the symptoms of PTSD and the 'whys' of them. "Nam Vet" challenged me to find that healing of my past that I was looking for...I did, and I want to thank God for his grace in helping me find it through this book. Thank you Chuck Dean, I'm glad God still uses people like you.
Rating: Summary: A literal "life saver" for thousands of veterans. Review: When I first picked up "Nam Vet" I could not put it down. The text in the book was a mirrored image of my own struggles with "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder" (PTSD). It revealed very clearly that I was not standing alone with my pain related to my combat experiences in Vietnam. Chuck Dean has been able to offer some basic guidelines for recognizing and dealing with PTSD. He will be the first to admit that the concepts he portrays are not based upon medical expertise, but upon Godly principles. If a veteran or family member remains open to the rationale put forth in the "Nam Vet" book, then I'm certain that they will receive something of value from its content. The book is laid out in a simple manner which is easy to understand. Anyone who suffers from any kind of PTSD, whether war related or not, should read "Nam Vet". I have spent several years laboring with Chuck Dean in ministry to veterans. I am convinced that a day does not pass where someone somewhere is assisted by the "Nam Vet" book. I would encourage you to take this vital step towards recovery from PTSD. You will never regret it.
