Rating: Summary: Finally there is understanding! Review: As a Vietnam Vet I have had a lot of the same feelings as described in Chuck Deans book. But had thought that it was just how I turned out. But after reading Chuck's book, It opened my eyes as to what was going on. Not only did I read this book, but my Wife and Kids read it as well. So if you are a Vet and think that you may suffer from PTSD, or want to find out more about PTSD, I strongly suggest you read this book or get a hold of Chuck and Athena's tapes. It will be worth your while.
Rating: Summary: The only book that tells it like it is Review: Chuck Dean accurately reports what goes on inside the head of a Viet Nam vet. If you want to know what troubles these people read NAM VET. He identifies the cause of the trouble and, best yet, offers a guaranteed solution.

Rating: Summary: Still kickin' , after all these years Review: I first met Chuck in Escanaba, Michigan in (1989?)when he was there giving a lecture at a church. I was very impressed with what he said, and the fact that he was very open and honest. I purchased his book at that time and took it home and read it in one sitting. I then returned to listen to him speak the next night and told him afterwards (jokingly) that I was going to sue him for plagiarism, since he had told my story. I felt that I could relate to most of what he had said. I felt that he was talking for me (about me). To make a long story short, I was strongly considering suicide at the time and had been for many years, but felt that I could not at that time because of other commitments. As soon as these commitments had been fulfilled, I was going to do "IT", no doubt about it. The reason that I didn't , , , Chuck Dean and his book "Nam Vet" which gave me a new relationship with Jesus, NO DOUBT IN MY MIND. That is why I am "Still kickin' , after all these years." Yours in Christ, Barney.
Rating: Summary: Nam Vet showed me the way to overcome my PTSD from Vietnam!! Review: I was so glad to realize that I wasn't a bad person, but I had PTSD from my experiences in Vietnam. Chuck Dean has showed in this book the way for all veterans to deal with and overcome PTSD. Having served with the 101st Abn. Div. as an infantry squad leader, I came home thinking all I had to do was go back to life as it was before I went to Nam. It didn't work that way. Within the first few months back home I almost killed my neighbor who was threatening me. Boy! was that a wakeup call for me. From then on I was real careful of my anger. But not until I was exposed to the information contained in Nam Vet, did I really get the help I needed to overcome my PTSD. Thanks for the book Chuck!
Rating: Summary: Every Vet and his/her family NEED to read this book. Review: I wish I could hand one out to every Vet. I buy 25 or so at a time and hand them out free to anyone who is a Vet, looks like a Vet, smells like a Vet, wishes they'd been a Vet, family member of a Vet, knows a Vet or his/her family,....... I've seen a lot of changed lives because of this book. Only ONE BOOK is more anoited...need I say more?
Rating: Summary: "It's NOT too late!" Review: If you are reading this review, I'll bet you are in your 50's or you have a loved one who is, and you are trying to find some peace from scars that were dug in over 30 years ago. As Vietnam veterans age, and as our secondary casualties (called wives and children) become searching adults, Nam Vet is a MUST READ! Chuck Dean has taken his painful search for peace and shared with the rest of us a mirror into our own troubles. I have carried the burden of being a scary husband and father, and at last I can see I am not alone! I can see the roots of my distrust for "the system," my resistance to authority figures, my hair trigger temper, and rages over stupid things like computer freezes goes back to Vietnam. Nam Vet has helped reinforce for me that only through accepting forgiveness and God's grace can we put down the ruck sack our minds have been trying to carry all these years. It is NOT too late to read this book and start or continue your healing! WELCOME HOME!

Rating: Summary: It change the direction of my life Review: In college and on my own I have read many, many books, but this book unlike all the others since I read it six years ago has truly influenced the direction of my life. What started off as a casual purchase, has opened my eyes and changed my attitudes. My family has certainly benefitted when I began to understand that my feelings and behavior had it roots in a war 25 years earlier. Now I could put Chuck Deans experience and advice to work in my own life. I am not one of those who goes looking for answers on a store's book shelf, there are lots of self help stuff out there, but this book did make a difference. This book is down to earth and easy to identify with, it reaches out to the reader and touches those very deep places with hope.
Rating: Summary: The reason I wrote the book Review: Literally thousands of Vietnam veterans came home from war and it never ended for them. They continue to struggle wth the mysteries surrounding post-traumatic stress. Nam Vet helps readers understand (from another soldiers point of view) what vets deal with on a daily basis...and why. This is a book of my own struggles after serving with the 173d Airborne Brigade from 1965 to 1966 in S.E. Asia. It is designed to give veterans and their families ways to not only cope, but to also arrive at a place of both spiritual and emotional healing...healing they never thought possible. This book was a labor of love, and I am humbled to know that it has helped change so many lives over the years. All the way, Chuck Dea
